To further add to this and so everyone understands injectors are only there to throw more fuel into an engine. When you pump in more air, you usually need more fuel so that the engine stays happy and you don't lean out.

In this case it seems like the supercard with the stock injectors puts the a/f ratio where it should be under boost (between 11.5:1 and 12:1) that seems to include an exhaust test pipe and header. My guess is you folks without the freeflowing exhausts will have slightly richer mixtures.

You will also find that an engine typically will make more power and feel less "laggy" under boost when you are in the target a/f ratio. If you drop in the low 10's I have found that you can feel less power because it's too rich. Also, over time you will wash out the ringlands.

With this all said the kit seems to be engineered to have a significant amount of safety in it so I would not be afraid of anything wrong happening to your engines.

Only basing this on what Loenine is saying it does seem like the injector upgrade is overkill at this boost level or with the amount of flow his exhaust system is generating.

Oscar, could you guys explain why you felt the need to have an injector upgrade for a header, test pipe and exhaust so we can understand where your research led you to that conclusion?

With our research, we typically saw air/fuel with full exhaust and 5 psi go to 12.7-13.5:1 A/F in boost. This is very bad.

With injector upgrade installed, we had not seen any issues, the ECU trimmed fuel correctly with no hiccups, and the A/F went to a proper level. Apparently once this was released to the public, something changed. Like I have said many many times, with all the different cars we tested this kit on, all testing the injector upgrade, we never had an issue. Chris' car actually ran around with the exact 5 psi with injector upgrade setup for over 6 months, with no hiccups.

Once again, I apologize.

When I come to pick up my kit, and the Hondata reflash package, my setup will be a Megan Header, T1R B-Pipe, and Greddy Ti-C axleback what problems might I run into? the same as Leonine? I don't plan on doing a down pipe/test pipe.. I'm sure my exhaust diameter is 50mm.. and not 60mm... will the Hondata reflash correct these initial problems ppl are experiencing?
I agree, there are too many exhaust configurations to make it perfect for everyone.
The injector issues have been OBDII/CEL related, and not mechanical issues.

With Hondata, you will have no issues... Besides excessive tire spin.

"where's the smiley with his jaw dropped???!?!?"

You just made my day with that reply... especially that last sentence!

I am definitely 150% commited to picking up this kit while I am down there on vacation! I'm going to have the biggest grin on my face driving over 2600miles back to Calgary!!! I'll have my rear view mirror pointed downwards so I can stare at the kit safely riding in my back seat (I might even put the seatbelt around her just in case... )

Thanks OJR.

So I got my Scangauge II in today and I just installed it. Man, I'm out of room! Will need to find a new location later. But the code I get is P0172 which is a rich A/F mix. For some reason it won't clear my code when I ask it to, it just remains on that blank screen. Do I have to wait an extended period of time?

when you say in boost do you mean in open loop or WOT? it seems like the supercard is not adding fuel until either of these conditions. i could be in closed loop and my scangauge is showing MAP above 14.5 and no aditional fuel. Just curious how the supercard adjusts fuel.

Thanks.

leo,

When I said "in boost", I meant 5500-6000RPM WOT at about 5psi. I will try to be more specific next time, but this information is not important to the situation.

WOT is usually open loop, and in open loop the ECU goes to preset mapping. We have discussed the SuperCard operation before and it is available on our website. It adjusts when it sees boost. It is programmed to have a nice gradual increase in fuel, for good fuel economy and proper fuel enrichment. So you must have been in the lower rev range and at minimal boost pressures (1-2psi) to see minimal fuel enrichment.

Also, the ScanGauge is not going to give you all the answers.
