The Official Blog from GD to GE to GK to GTI to R?
So, what car are you leaning to?
370, power all around, great lines nice rumble.
S2K, high revving light nimble but, you have to keep it in that sweet spot (rpm) and like Gbaby said it's probably going to be in demand later.
STI, slam gear into corners, super launches without attracting to much attention.

guys, thanks for the enthusiasm. i appreciate it.
i did stop by the dealer to pickup my wiper refills for the GE and also spoke to my usual sales guy about the CR. first off, the CR is an 08 and they've had it at their lot for almost 1.5yrs. upon close inspection there are quite a bit of hairline scratches down to the primer, paint is pretty swirled up as expected, and the overall plastics and seals are showing slight fading due to it being outside for such a long time. there's ~80miles on the odo.
i told the guy i'll give him 31K for it due to all the minor damage that i'll need to fix, but he could only come down to 32K. this is after his usual bs game of 'oh, let me ask the manager.. yada yada.' hippidie hop (sp?)
hahaha.
sticker is $38K. if it was in immaculate condition i would've just taken the deal but in my books the car is not new. it's in used condition.
so im down to the STI and the 370Z. i can probably get a 2009 STI for $32K looking at the latest ad from the dealer...and it's in the black color i want.
there's 7miles on the odo..so yes, that would be 'new' in my books and worth spending.

hahaha.
but it'll mean that i'll have to let the FitS go... im not sure if im ready for that.
but this would be the most economical route.this will then allow me to use the remaining funds to save up for my future weekend car... heck even upgrade to the Nismo 370Z when im done with the G.
something to think about i guess...

crap, im still having a hard time thinking about letting my FitS go... considering that the STI comes with summer tires i guess i can get snows for the FitS(going to TR next month anyway) and keep the FitS as my winter dd? man such irony keeping a AWD sleeping in the garage in the winter. LOL
am i making any sense here?
someone over at nasioc commented that they got their new STI for only $31K. holycrap. but the one im looking at has a few options that can be useful for me (dimming mirror with compass and such convenience things).

Just keep them both. Drive the STi to work one day, and the next drive the Fit
In the winter tuck the Fit away and smash the STi in the snow!

yah, I did mention that cause my legacy sucked arse (and dealer as well) cause they completely botched the warranty repairs.
The difference is that the STI is built in Japan and I will be working with another dealer this time around (kind of a haul) but my buddy's friends say they do good work if I do haveany warranty issues. For regular maint ill be doing the work so I probably won't be seeing any of them any time soon...hopefully.
Yah, you guys are probably right. I can't see myself letting go the FitS just yet. Biggest issue is that I just like it so much!
Hahahaha. plus I can keep the FitS under primary and STI under leisure car insurance like my G so the rates would be much cheaper. I just need to keep total milage under 7500/Yr. Which is feasible if I drive it 1/2 and 1/2 with the FitS.

Had some time to sleep on it. I'm going to check out the 370Z today before going back to subaru.
I'm still dissappointed I had to remove the CR from the list. But then again my original plan is to get a mid-way car so even the 370Z is hanging by a string as an exception. It would need to give me a great reason why I should keep that and my G. (Wife said "easy, just drive the G as your dd and FitS as your winter dd."). Yah... No...
hahahaha. We all know if I get the 370Z, my G will still not be driven as dd due to its heavy clutch... And keeping the 3pcs wheels clean is a biotch.
Damn, and its raining today too...
Good day to test drive FR but bad day to check for any imperfections.
From the test drive I hope to make my final decision.

With all that being written, should be a no brainer. STI....... seats the family good in the winter, cheaper insurance and you already got a great nissan powered v6 ride and like you said (never buy the first of the redesigns)
I also found a great little device for your winter tires.
http://www.orange-tpms-usa.com/swf/I...r%20manual.pdf
now you can duplicate your original set and the computer won't even know you changed to the winter set

Lol!
hahaha. I had to take care of a lot of home stuff yesterday so that was one of the reasons I didn't get a chance to post.
The other reason is that I came home with a brand spankin' new 370Z 6MT with SportsPackage.
tanuki is correct. If you summarize it all it does sound like the STI was the way to go...but if you rewind a tad more, the STI was a compromise car since I would (thought I would) need to take the kids to class on saturdays so my motoring days were going to be very limited.
Wife doesn't want me working on my music on Sunday and so took ownership of taking the kids to class, which means I work on my music on Saturday and have Sunday early morning to myself. Plus the 370Z had been my choice from the beginning. This is the no-compromise approach.
.
Another key component to my decision was that I couldn't let the FitS go. Its the lowest-end car from Honda, yet I like it more than the STI for commuting.
STI is a great package...but to me, it is a package for car guys quite a bit younger than me, and can only afford one car.
Now the first year release thing... Well, the price I negotiated for the 370Z 6MT with Sport Package (went from $36.2K to less than what I was quoted on the 08 CR!) it didn't bother me. That was the trade off.
its the time to buy, dealer had 8-9 370Z's still in-stock. Most of them were MT's too and they said they had a hard time selling the MT's. Pretty werd if you asked me.
So thanks to all of you who participated and who read my little quest.
. Hahahaha. Atleast you know how much I value the FitS.
More on the 370Z later.
