I have a new Hero... I will have had my car 5 years in July and have only 35000 on it but a whole lot of them were well over the legal limit..... I had no idea you were into Texas Music, Biily Joe Shaver grew up about 45 miles from here and now lives in Waco.

HA There just ain't no fool like an old fool and only one Billy Joe Shaver. Taint real unless it's irreverent.

Problem is finding good music when you can't ride on over to catch it local - and forget the airwaves homoganized pasteurized sterility.

Some of the guys that were in the forefront of the progressive country, long haired redneck, cosmic cowboy genre of music were from the same part of Dallas where I grew up.... Michael Martin Murphy played in a 3 piece band in high school with My first girlfriends older brother, and Chuck (B.W,) Stevenson lived directly across the street from her. Ray Wylie Hubbard and as well as the others all attended W.H. Adamson high school which had less students than some of the graduating classes of other schools in the district.... One of the most talented singer songwriters from the heyday of that era is Steven Fromholz who wrote a beautifully descriptive song about 1950's small town and rural Texas.. It is just amazing to hear him sing it live at a small venue while drinking Tequila shots and listening to his wild storys... He was the lead guitarist and vocalist for the Stephen Stills band "Manassas" until the excesses of being a rock star nearly got him killed and his friend John Vandeventer was killed in his home outside of Houston over a deal gone bad involving the same excesses.. He is a close friend of Billy Joe's and all of the others I mentioned. You need to check him out.
