Yes, this amazing little product is capable of mind control as well as throttle control! It can also be used as a safety device for those of us that get stooooopid with the gas pedal every now and then.

On the fastest opening setting on the one I have my tires break loose in 2nd gear and don't hook up until about 40 MPH... That is on a cool day so not so much lately... I use the slowest setting a whole lot. WOT happens fast and when pulling out of a parking lot onto a road it is nice to be able to not under steer across 2 lanes into oncoming.

Yes FitFreaks, the latest ETC version (version 4.0 is what shipped to me) has 9 Sport and 7 Economy steps.

Panson, you should edit the first post to reflect what you're shipping now - and change the subject header to show 16 steps as well - it might draw in a few more customers.

I thought the same way you do about the function of an ETC when people first began getting them a few years back and paying through the nose for them... What Jim2bFit said about the stock drive by wire system being "granny'd up" is very true, you think your throttle body is responding instantly but with one of these little devices installed you will instantly realize how slow the response is. I realize that it doesn't change anything on a dyno readout but a dyno is just a tool that measures power and torque at a given RPM at wide open throttle, the ETC allows you to instantly be at WOT instead of having your pedal all the way down and having to wait for WOT to happen.... It is really a great device.

my fit is extremely throttle responsive, and i dont have this but my fit doesnt have throttle lag and i plan on getting a lightweight flywheel and clutch set up. now i kno it changes the percentages but at 90-100% throttle imput the throttle body is open 100% on my fit and if i feather the gas on-off REALLY fast the car keeps up perfectly. also did this while car was off too so i can watch the throttle move in relation to the pedal and it moves as fast as my foot... idk maybe my fit is broken? it also backfires from factory soooo

Been driving with it in normal mode for the past 3 weeks. Yesterday I put it in sport 6 to get the upper hand on a camaro. Haven't put it back since.

Just ordered mine today Jim, based on your recommendation and that of Coyote. I just can't stand the Factory throttle response Honda programmed into this car, to the point where if I can't change it, I might get rid of the car. I just hate the way it feels, always lagging.

I'm hoping to see a marked improvement in response from this ETC 16.
Thanks.

haha its actually pretty funny, i typically drive it on eco5 and throw it on normal when i want some more power, it actually makes me forget how peppy this car is some times. i put it on sport when i wanna be an ass lmao

Are you guys seeing that drastic a change in the car's "personality" between some of these modes? It seems that way, from what I'm reading. Maybe I'm reading too much into this?

Yes. It mostly depends on your driving style to begin with. For people that drive a Fit exclusively for gas mileage, and feather the gas to squeeze as many MPG as possible per tank, an ETC is probably a waste of time/money since they are already using their own "ECO" mode. For people like myself that drive a Fit for it's versatility and fun (not concerned about MPG), and have modified their Fit with performance/handling in mind, you can have a lot of fun with an ETC. Practically speaking, it's mostly situational - it's not a "power" thing. It's more about tuning the lag and sensitivity in/out of the throttle to suit a given driving style or condition. I could see where the ECO 5 mode or higher would be perfect for winter driving to cut down on wheel spin, just like the Sport 7+ modes are a lot of fun on winding country roads.

I was going to get rid of mine but found I do not like the normal mode anymore. I use eco 4 or 5.

I use the eco 5 a lot also.. I can keep the exhaust noise down some and I don't embarrass myself as often at signal lights by lighting up the front tires when starting off from signal lights like sometimes happens in sp7 mode... I think I will use sp modes more when I get around to getting stiff motor and transaxle mounts along with sticky tires.

Exclamation Calibration Procedure?

Would you guys verify the calibration steps for me please? I installed the unit with no issues, turned the key to the on position, and followed the instructions:

1. Display showed "nor"
2. I pressed & held the mode button and it counted down to 0.
3. I released the mode button and then pushed the set button, with my foot OFF the accelerator.

The display then showed one of the EC or SP modes??? Then it went to "100" and I pushed the accelerator down to the floor and pushed the set button. I never see it display "SET"

It just keeps displaying 100 and never shows any voltages in between 0 - 100% when pushing the throttle. Something is not right for sure. Am I doing something wrong during setup? I'm sure all the connections are solid and wired properly (using harness 7A).

Thanks.

Here's the instructions...i think you may not be holding it down long enough before you set the first time...try it again

NOTE - This next part is VERY important, please complete
this procedure before strarting the car
THROTTLE CONTROLLER INITIAL SETUP:
1. turn the ignition to the on position (position just before cranking)
2. the unit should light up and go through a couple different things then it should stop and display
"nor" on the display
NOTE - if it doesnt say "nor", press the mode button until it does
3. once the display reads "nor", hold down the MODE button
NOTE - the display should start counting down from 7 on down to zero
4. when it hits zero, hold is for one more second and the display should start blinking reading "LO"
"1.3" (the number is volts and may not say exactly 1.3)
5. without press the accelerato pedal press "set"
6. the display should now read "HI" "1.3" (the number is volts and may not say exactly 1.3)
7. press the accelerator pedal all the way to the floor and hold it
8. the display should say "HI" and a volt of 3. something or 4. something
9. press "set"
10. the TC is now set.
11. look at the TC display and press the accelerator pedal all the way to the floor and release a few
times. all the way to the floor and the display should say "100"
12. turn the key off
13. wait 5 seconds
14. start the car
NOTE - The Harness has a blue wire on it that is there by itself. that is for the Reverse
Disable. With that hooked up, what it does is revert the Controller back to normal mode for
reversing situations. That wire does not have to be hooked up. it is truly by preference.
NOTE - the car will go through its normal re-learning phases and wierd runing and etc. it
may even stall and idle way funny and surge a it more than usual.

Java,

Thanks a bunch, that worked. I just wasn't holding it down long enough past zero to reach the blinking display voltage. Followed your instructions and it matched perfectly. Now for a test drive ...

SP5 for MT Fits is the highest I suggest trying. Other wise the start is way to jumpy or you roast the tires. Glad Java was able to help you out.
