ETC 12 step Adjustable Throttle Controller
#203
Installed and works great...two quesions that I searched and could not find answers to:
1. Is the display ALWAYS on? When I turn the car off, the display is still on.
2. Do I need to hook up the blue (backer) wire? If so, does anyone know which wire leads to the white reverse lights?
Love it already, trying to find my mode...SP7 is a super quick one!
Cheers,
jeremy

SUPER EASY. Directions are translated from another language, so, grammatically it is kind of confusing. But here is what I did:
1. unplug the OEM throttle harness from the throttle pedal
2. connect the ETC cable the OEM harness and to the throttle pedal (obvious when you see the connectors)
3. connect the OBDII connector to the OBDII port.
4. connect the ETC cable to the memory box (i think that is what it is called)
5. hide wires, used double sided tape to secure the memory box, and display unit
6. go through set up (in directions)
DONE!
I didn't hook up the "reverse" circuit yet...this allows the conroller to go to normal when put in reverse. But I've found that I don't need it.
EASIEST INSTALL of any fit item I have installed.
Hope that helps!

I finally added this ETC to my car this weekend. Man this is a fun little toy. It didn't give me the "Oh my God" change in throttle performance that I was kind of expecting, but once I recalibrated my expectations and did some comparison tests between modes I was a very happy driver.
My Vtec has seen more use in the last few days than in the prior 2 months I've had the car haha.

I find that the EC-5 setting is very useful to me in keeping the exhaust noise down and it really does improve fuel mileage... The slow throttle response feels nearly nonexistent at low RPM and encourages one to shift into a lower gear instead of stabbing at the accelerator pedal to maintain speed on hills or heavy traffic... The slower throttle response reduces drive train stress and clutch wear when taking off from a dead stop as well... With the ability to tailor your throttle response from one extreme to the other with 10 settings in between a person can refer to the ETC as both a toy and a tool based on what their needs or desires are at any given time... I often wonder if anyone that has one ever even considers using the normal mode.

Have mine on the car and it works great! The car really runs through the lower rpm range in 1st-2nd and some of 3rd gear when in the sport mode. I need something to give it better upper rpm not sure what I can do to achieve this! I don't want to install a non oem header at the moment, i'm thinking maybe a short ram intake and some lighter wheels.?
