Well the results came in, PAX 36 & my brother 40 out of 96. I thought we were going to PAX better but I guess the fourth run group did really good. <mostly STR / STX cars>

well multiple magazines will be shooting the event, so it is a possibility. I just need to see how my work is going to be. We have 5 Ariel Atom Spec racers coming in in 3 weeks and we will be using them to have a driving school/experience and hopefully there wont be a scheduling conflict.

On a GOOD day, I am on par raw times wise with a mid pack STS car. STR is lite in my region but we have a HEAVY STX contingency including some national competitors. If my PAX time comes remotely close to there's I am STOKED! So far this is my best PAX placement. 15th in a field of 192 entries :

Looks like Mark M., Hal (or Praneil), and the 95 325 driven by one of the Tsang brothers are up at the top of the list. You should come to one of the CCA autocrosses sometime.

Haha, yep you sure know the local hot shoes! I believe that was Mark's co driver in the CM that day, but it was a SMOKING run!

Send me a PM or a link to some of the CCA stuff... My schedule is crazy right now as I'm trying to prep the car for a Pro Solo in July. The "to do" parts pile is getting bigger not smaller!!!

The Golden Gate chapter CCA forum is here: Autocross - GGC BMW CCA

Our next event is Saturday and we have them monthly through October down in Marina (November's top driver shootout event is limited to BMWs or MINIs).

Hmm, I'm already booked Sat BUT I have put 6/15 on the schedule! By then I should have the bucket seat in, the brakes sorted, and hopefully the springs/ride height and alignment straightened out! SFR has an event that got bumped from 6/9 to 6/8 and I thought I wouldn't get any seat time till 6/30. Now I'm excited!!!

Solidly in class X for our club; i.e.: non-BMW. A class B car under our points system would be a mostly stock MINI S or non-M 3 series (E36/E46/E9x) running street tires.

Haha, I only saw the listing of class's C-AAA. I like the sound of "X" class better anyway

And I am running "street tires." On the magical pixie dust 195 Toyo's at the moment, but soon to be on the 205 BFG Rivals

Funnily enough, our shop works on Mini's. If they keep up like series three jags... I will probably end up with one sooner or later that the owner decided to not finish repairing ALMOST got one the other day, '07 non s non sunroof 5 speed (near PERFECT SCCA H stock car.)It had a snapped cam :: Owner bought a used motor though, drat

MINIs kick some serious butt. I thought about buying one when I was considering the Fit, but when your other car is a BMW with a bunch of suspension mods, I needed a car that emphasized practicality over fun.

I am sure you know Erik Lam who has a heavily prepared (AAA for our classification system) and very competitive MINI S. There are several guys with modded MINIs that are very competitive in our A and AA classes. They're too fast for little old me.

What's your 330Ci classed under?

To be honest your clubs classing system and reg system is bewildering to me Haha, might have to get your assistance when the reg opens for the June 15th event

No worries, it's bewildering to everyone. And that's without taking Gonzo class into consideration.

My 330Ci is in A class and I compete mostly with stock E36 and E46 M3s. Generally speaking they win, too. I think my car needs different gearing to be competitive (replace the 2.93 diff with something in the 3.23 to 3.46 range - but if I do that I need to replace my 5-speed with a 6-speed to make highway driving tolerable). A better driver would help too.

That fella that runs the Formula ford runs with the club I belong to. No first place for him at our venue.

Mark runs with most all of the clubs. I think at the end of last season he said he had spent 30+ weekends autocrossing in 2012.

Haha the owner is still learning to drive the thing up to it's limits and has been fighting a ton of "teething" issues.

Mark sure does get around!!! I wish I had that kind of seat time... haha if I stop spending all my budget on new parts for the Fit then MAYBE I would have the $ but not so much the time

OMG I found that out the hard way

Did all 4 corners till clean new blue fluid came out AND the clutch with MAYBE 1/2 a bottle

The San Francisco Region of the SCCA is surprisingly active. Especially considering there are at least 2 more sub chapters in Sacramento and Fresno AND the BMW, Porsche, Datsun and American Muscle clubs that alsot host events in the areas. If you had time, $, the "right" car and inclination, you could get seat time almost every weekend!
