How would you notice the difference between 78% N and 100% N?

What is this freeze thing you speak of?

No freezing in San Antonio.

well i have neo gen tires that are only a inch thick so my ride was bumpy as hell and when i hit a bump it was horrible, but after i got nitrogen feels like you have that floating suspension feelin like crown vic ha, and gas milleage went up 6 more mpg on highway, i feel a better grip when driving and cornering. Plus im not rushing to gas station to fill up on air all the time like i use to, weather temp changes alot where i live hot one day cold the next. I ended up fillin my tires twice a week when i had just air in my tires. I even thought maybe its in my head like when you get a new aftermarket part thats suppose to better the car and really your just thinking its working so i tested it with my girlfriend and my parents and if you knew them they think putting parts on a car is pointless. Both my parents and girlfriend have driven my car when i had regualr air in it and hated driving my car. My parents used my car for 2 days and not even knowing i changed the anything one it asked if I got new shocks or something becuase it drives like a whole differnt car and I told them all i did was put nitrogen in my tires. Now both my parents filled thier tires up with nitrogen and love it, and they wouldnt even put tint on their car ha thats how bad they think aftermarket things are stupid even though i explain all the time it would help. but thats a differnt story, but my point is its noticable to even the most stubborn people with cars.

That really sounds like you had a bad seal or leaky valve stems that eventually got cleared up. There;s no way its just the difference between regular air vs N causing that.

Well, that's why it was used in the pro racing cars. The reason its used in regular cars is that you can turn 20 bucks worth of gas into a few hundred.

i know some places charge $40 for lifetime Nitrogen and i laugh when people pay for it. honestly the only thing i see good from it is if i was rich and had a butt load of cars that sit and that had chrome rims. air won't fluctuate or corrode the chrome. thank god i'm not rich and hate chrome wheels.

LOL. sorry but, your weather doesn't change much. Move a bit further north to see weather that changes. i'm not even up to canada and we have temps that change. We see over 120 degree variations in temperatures here in VT and I know further north sees even greater fluctuations. (It was probably colder here today than you'd see in N.C. In February - scraped the ice off the window this morning) That said, it sounds like you had problem valves, tires, both, etc... i've been using Good Ole' Air and have never had to worry about pressure getting too low. i don't use the Factory tires during the Snowy months but my TPMS light has only ever come on once in the more than 2 years of ownership (and that was during the first winter when I did use the factory tires)

Agreed 100%

Pressure is what will make the difference in economy, not the type of gas you fill it up with.

oh and to stay on topic, I had to get out the Ice Scraper to clean off the windows of the FIT & Ridgeline this morning. winter, she's a Comin!!!!

Tomorrow is Snow tire install day so today's the last day for the OEM Turanza's as the integra wheels with Snows will be swapped on tomorrow. When the Fit Alloys go back on, She'll have new rubber... not sure what but something High performance all season or summers. Might look at Direzzas again... not sure.

~SB Getting those snows just in time - more of that stuff on the way. I hate snow shovels in October.

Life is Great in the Great NE. I'm still sitting in the fence, Conti DWS are looking better all the time. Just don't want another set of four hanging around.

Yeah... CRAP... It's going to be 39 Degrees tomorrow... I hate Changing wheels over at 39 degrees but... If I change them tomorrow, we won't have any more snow until February... If I don't It's Blizzard-November for me.

Looks like around 10-11am tomorow, I get my gloves on and get the Jack out.

~Sigh.

I know, plenty of you guys don't believe in any benefit of Nitrogen... I do (to some extent).

This is what TireRack says near the end of their Nitrogen vs Air page.

So what should drivers do?

Overall, inflating tires with nitrogen won't hurt them and may provide some minimal benefits.

Is it worth it? If you go someplace that provides free nitrogen with new tires, why not? Additionally we’ve seen some service providers offering reasonable prices of about $5 per tire (including periodic adjustments for the life of the tire) to a less reasonable $10 per tire (with additional costs for subsequent pressure adjustments) or more as part of a service contract, which we believe exceeds the value of nitrogen’s benefit.

Rather than pay extra for nitrogen, most drivers would be better off buying an accurate tire pressure gauge and checking and adjusting their tire pressures regularly.
I kinda think even $5 per tire is high... but then again, I'm annoyed that some gas stations charge $1 just to use the air compressor. So... if I find a place that charges $4 total ($1 per tire) for nitrogen... I'm gonna do it. Till then, I guess I'll just stick to the air compressor in my garage. Hey, we have it, might as well use it.

As for CharlotteGE8Alex's claims about the MPG and bumpiness... eh... I'm not so inclined to believe.
