Nice find on the OEM wheels. You staying with the same offset or going wider to make it flush? I just ordered 30mm offset for the rears after confirming that the 20mm doesn't rub. Looks so much better.

 

Not putting spacers on these, simply going back to stock.

No snake oil....rather, Long-Chain Chloroparaffin (LCP)-containing synthetic oil (about 33% LCPs and 65% synthetic motor oil).

Long-chain chloroparrafin chemistry is well-documented in the lubrication and tribology literature. It is not added to commercial oils due to cost and the ever-present whining of the "anti-halogen" mafia (EPA and environmentalists who want any chlorine-containing compound removed from commercial production).

This is the same chemical composition as my Drill & Tap Shield (I bought the Drill & Tap Shield because it is significantly lower-priced than the Engine Shield relabeled product $100.84 shipped for 128 oz. Drill&Tap Shield versus $11.80 for 8 oz. of Engine Shield ($180.80 for 128 oz. via 16 bottles of Engine Shield)).

A forum member over at an oil discussion forum sent a sample of virgin Steel Shield oil in to an oil analysis lab for analysis.

So what is in the Steel Shield product?




Virgin Oil Analysis (VOA) of Engine Shield (i.e. Drill & Tap Shield):

• Long chain Chloroparaffins 27-32%
• Zinc Dialkyldithiophosphate (ZDDP) approx. 1%
• Ca Sufonate 0.5-1%
• Base oil Low or Mid VI 66 to 71.5%

The long chain chloroparaffins are the extreme pressure (EP) agent that makes the product perform so well. ZDDP is a known and commonly used anti-scuffing/lubricity agent used in motor oils. Calcium sulfonate is the ingredient that assists in corrosion inhibition. The base oil is a synthetic base oil utilized as a carrying agent for the other ingredients.

Steel Shield Technologies, Inc.'s own published MSDS data sheets also support that all of their products are the same thing with different labeling (exception: Steel Shield's lithium greases).

installed my OEM Cargo Cover. Super quick 5 minutes!

 

figured out what was wrong with my autofolding for my JDM powerfolding mirrors. Switched the open and close wires and voila, now it folds with alarm lock/unlock.

excellent christmas so far. got a surprise jelly bean update for my droid razr and got my autofolding to work. i got the zeta rear bumper applique which i'll install when all this wet weather is gone.

 

Installed the plastic engine belly pan for a CR-Z onto the Fit. Wasn't a perfect fit like another forum member posted but it was good enough. Zip tied that sucka right on. No more water, mud and snow coming up into the engine bay. Yay.

Got a oem armrest and usaspec Bluetooth for Xmas, easy install for both.

 

Performed a 4 wheel alignment and gave it a wash. Passenger side rear toe is slightly out but is unadjustable and it isn't out enough to worry about it yet.

 

Ordered a set of Swift Sport springs for the Fit. Debating whether I should wait for spring time to put them on or to throw them on and run them in the snow. Thoughts?

Left it at home. -39 this morning. And tomorrow? -2 of course. Hopefully my battery isn't completely dead. Time to go get a battery warmer and maybe order a rear sway bar. I've got the itch to mod again, so maybe I'll buy some parts.

 

Haha. Who cares when springs go on? Take your car to the sun, take it to the north pole, they'll be fine. I guess it's cold so if you wanna wait till it warms up to spend a day in the garage that's understandable. If you don't care then go for it!

Actually I just remembered Swifts don't go very low, put them on whenever. I was thinking of Teins, where the springs have me lower than that FL dude on coilovers and I drive through snow every day blowing it with my bumper >______>
