I guess I was lucky as the previous owner had apparently fiddled with the passenger door previously as I didn't have an issue removing those screws. He (or a shop) had obviously removed them before. Anyhow I was sure to use a #3 bit with T-handle. My biggest issue was I found the black plastic clip which supposedly locks the actuator arm onto the door handle in the bottom of the door. After messing with it I could see why, no way did it want to fit over the end of the rod so I also left it off. But, like I said it's all working well now, except for the manual lock which isn't connected to anything.
Did you by chance see that remote mod? I love not having to use the key in the door locks, saves wear and tear on them. And funny you mention it, I definitely noticed my steel wheels are rusting a bit too, has been on my bucket list. Do you still run your hubcaps? I will keep mine, I'm just not a fan of the bare steel wheels but I want to paint mine black as you did with yours.
Thanks for the advice on brake shoes too, I will look for them when I get to replacing ... curious if they are ceramic, I will look them up later, (EBC).
Yeah, having to install a resistor is why I didn't swap out the blinker lights with LED's. For the headlights I simply pulled the DRL fuse - I like it better that way anyhow, when my switch says "OFF" my headlights are actually off! Luckily my upholstery (fabric) is still manageable, hope you can get yours upgraded to a satisfactory level.
Oh, and finally I did put a piece of black tape on my dash to cover the dreaded tpms warning light, ugh!
This guy sells a sweet kit to help with the hyperflash. All plug in play too, and you only need to plug into the rear. Other than the headlight bulbs and fog lights, I have switched all my bulbs to LED.

I had to have a new key made, worn out. I ordered a blank off eBay, had to have the dealer cut it. Key shops can't do them.
My original wheel covers were pretty bad looking, so I got a set of these, way cheaper than OEMs

Rear brake shoes kit and wheel cylinders I got from RockAuto, Power Stop brand shoes.
The EBC Green disc pads are available here

BTW, did you find out how much the resistor kits are?And you need 1 for the front and another for the rear?

The kit is 80, and you only need the one for the rear.

gkitf16, not to beat a dead horse but I just wanted to be sure you know the (US) 09 fits have all the hardware for remote entry, you just need to program the key for that - very easy, instructions are in that prior thread. I assume you already know that but I just wanted to double check as I was almost jumping up and down with joy when I found that out And yes, I had also heard a dealer or special equipment is required to cut a new key for the ignition.
Anyhow, thank you for the links, I was very pleasantly surprised to see how inexpensive the wheel caps were. I had looked at a site who's costs were literally 4 times that. It's nice to know that I can get a new look for MUCH cheaper should I choose, thanks!

Posted this in the wrong thread

Had lent the Fit to my sister after I got a truck to use for work back in 2017. Sister recently bought her own car and now the Fit is back in my hands! Needs some TLC but so far in great condition being 15 years old.

Got it checked up and everything’s in order mechanically at 133k miles. Swapped out the battery and got new tpms sensors and love seeing not a single warning light on the dash. I’m in search of a passenger side skirt and I’m swapping out the top strut mounts this weekend since there’s some play(assuming the rubber mounts and bearings have deteriorated).

Swapped out the strut mounts this morning! You can see in the photos how much wear and tear took place in a span of about 6 years. The center metal on the top mount was concave and the bottom mount had cracks and worn out rubber. Bear in mind I’m on coilovers so I’m sure it’s not typical for stock suspension. Drives like a dream again with no suspension knocking!

Had to pop off the bumper because my usual alignment shop was closed and I had to go to another local shop that wasn’t lowered car friendly, haha. Removed it pretty quick like I used to back in the day.

@Burzpaw welcome back. I just did my top mounts, too. What a difference!

@Chad T that's the best looking wheel wrap I've seen. Is it a kit?

Thanks!

Yes it’s a kit from stitchingcover.com

44 bucks for synthetic leather. I went with the synthetic because I thought it would be thinner/easier to install. Feels really nice. Lots of different colors and materials to choose from. Little bit of a tedious job but comes out nice if you can keep the thread tight.

Thanks @GrE8_Fit! It’s night and day for sure; driving a week with the knocking got me anxious the strut post would snap or the body mount would get damaged haha.

Found a wreck yard in LA that had an SSM Fit Sport with the passenger side skirt— all is right aesthetically again

Cool! I was just looking at those on Tire Rack.

Come springtime, I am going to need new tires to replace the various mismatched tires on my car. (although currently I am using Blizzaks because it's February, but we've had barely a dusting of snow!)LOL

Odyssey battery install

While doing B 1 service noticed Champion (pepboys) battery 5 years old. Car starts fine in this mild climate, but load tested it. Only 50% of rated output so time to replace. I have an Odyssey AGM in my airplane and I trust my life to it, so at the Autozone price compared to a 151R, easy choice. New one is one inch shorter than stock, but plastic padding in the box made a perfect spacer to align positive terminal. Note that accessory terminal posts are necessary, as seen in the picture.

Yeah I was stuck between these and the Continental Extreme Contact DWS 06

I bought a kit from them and was having problems doing the installation. Any tips?

The silver Fit is my moms car, and the reason I bought mine.

It's not as easy as they make it look. First thing I found out was the seam between different sections won't line up if you just start on the first loop. You need to line up the seams then figure out which loop will work. You can adjust it a little by doing a double pass through one of the loops. This helps when it gets uneven.

Watched a few install vids. There are tons of them. None of them had a very good detail of how to tie the thread off at the begining and end. You want to go through the leather at these points. I just used basic granny knots to tie it off and seemed to work ok. It gets tucked into the plastic covers so hopefully holds ok.

Keeping the thread tight is key. I tried to do it like the girl in this vid. Note how she holds on to the thread while shes doing the next loop. I was able to get this down but it was a much slower version.

I had the steering wheel off the car and removed all the trim but it can be done on the car. Take your time. I re-did a few sections. They give you lots of thread. Really like this cover.
