you don't necessarily have to. i did mine on the car. just a pain in the ass.
get a sharp razor blade. jack the front end up. take the wheels off. slide
the boot up. use a couple of screw drivers to hold it up. then start cutting
with your razor blade. i did mine like that. cause i wasn't going to take all that apart again.

yes not sure by how much i never measured that.

so are you both riding on bump stops and don't know it?
or are you not sure? how rough is the ride. it shouldn't
be that much rougher than stock. does it bottom out easily?

if you think it rides good then i don't know if it will help.
i know my springs are only 10% stiffer than stock. the ride
feels just like stock but the car handles better in the turns.

do you guys know what the stiffness is suppose to be on yours?

happened to me. see if this helps lol. I couldn't have done it without the guys here it was really frustrating. basically, squeeze the rubber boot at the end (where it pops back into your tranny) gently with your fingers. You should feel a little triangle ball bearing formation. Rotate that a little at a time till it pops back in.

hey, GREAT DIY, but you should put the thing about the axle BEFORE they accidentally let the axle pop out. Any chance you can edit this for the future guys? it's a HUGE pain after you mess up. I know you have the little disclaimer, but it's after you've already said "installation is reverse..." took me 6 hours for the first wheel, and about 45 for the other 3 combined.

Going to tackle this, this evening, any tips for keeping the axle from popping out? Is it just a matter of supporting it, and keeping it straight?

I have done a ton of suspension installs so i am not really worried about it, just a little "nervous" about this axle popping out, after reading this thread, as it seems like it turns a quick install into a nightmare.

Well that was not bad at all. Did it in 2hrs flat. I blew through the fronts very fast.

With the rears, i used an allen bit, and vice grips to get the collars off the strut, in order to access the bump stops.. Something must have happened to the threads, because when putting the nut back on the strut, i had to use an allen bit/ratchet, and an open end wrench, as a regular socket was just spinning the shaft, i don't know why.

I am very happy with how the T1r's ride/feel. Not too harsh at all. It feels great, and the drop is perfect.

great write-up. used this to install my coilovers. here's pics of how i held up the control arm:

I used the jack for the lower control arm and a string or speaker wire in my case to hold up the knuckle.

I did it one side at a time too but I think it would have been better to do two at a time in the front. I ran into problems with the sway bar end links all tensed up when doing the second side. The sway bar end link kicked the strut to the side almost popping out my axle and snapping my abs wire...I caught it before that could happen. Luckily my friend was able to jack up the other side while I held the strut and that eased the tension off the sway bar end link.

Thanks for the awesome write up niko
