Nice service coverage 2015FIT, I'm sure that will guide someone out of a service conundrum somewhere.

Metal ping from rear

Has anyone else been getting a metal ping sound from the rear? I think it only happens on rare occasions when accelerating, but it sounds like taking a finger and flicking a piece of sheet metal, it's not real loud either. I think everything in the spare tire compartment is tightened down.

I get a weird sound that could be similar. It sounds more like a thud to me and It comes from the lower rear. I initially thought it was the suspension. I'm not sure as it happens only once in awhile and sometimes I never hear the sound even on bumps or rough roads. I'll have it checked next time I bring it in for service. It doesn't happen enough to bother me.

I am not sure if it is the same sound, but I do know that in mine, and at least with one other poster, there is a noise that comes from the long trim piece on the hatch door (the one that has the Honda "H" emblem).

Here's how that poster described it (post #508 on this thread):
"I was getting a popping / clicking sound that was very intermittent and found out that it was expansion / contraction of the rear black trim piece that has the Honda emblem on it. Hearing the noise I got out of the vehicle and heard it on the outside of the car, upon closer inspection it was definitely the trim piece expanding in the hot sun. Definitely odd to have a sound coming from plastic trim on a new car but it is probably just getting used to our wild weather changes."

I described it as a dry thud or clicking noise from the rear on the driver's side near the hatch door. It happens in mine when there are temp changes and/or it goes from cloudy to sunny.

In some other post, someone's trim piece broke after he/she had heard the noise for a while. The dealer did replace the piece according to his/her post. Unfortunately, I don't remember in which thread I read that.

I saw an online automotive review lately and the reviewer complained about the sound but said it subsided once the engine was run in. I don't even have 1000 km's on it so it might be true. We shall see.
I have 6000mi on mine, and the DI sounds the same. IMO the engine sound doesn't really change from new. However, the sound smooths out with higher RPM, and the wife's CVT is noticeably quieter inside. My manual is a bit noisier in the cabin. I'm not sure if the CVT gets better/different sound insulation or if the different transmission mediates the sound better.

It's the direct injection that is responsible for the ticking sound. I've read a 2015 Fit review from Car and Driver and the article mentions the ticking sound in the cabin and general engine noise. The ticking comes from the direct injection and won't go away no matter how many miles are on the car. It's my first direct injection car so I had no idea if this sound was normal or not. I was concerned but now that I know, I can live with it.

Rubber squeaking when closing driver rear window..

Has anyone had any problems with the rubber seal around windows? I have a rear driver side window that squeaks when I close it. What to do? Am almost ready for my first oil change - 13,000 km. Needs to go to the dealership for squeaky clutch as well. Still love this car!

Try a little silicone or Teflon spray lubricant. Spray it on a dry cloth and rub it on the rubber seals.

snag list

Hey guys, I am picking up my new metallic grey ex cvt next wed. I live in Canada and my vin number is 107***.
I was wondering if someone who has read all the posts and knows all the issues to look for when accepting a new fit ? Maybe a list of issues would be handy for all and some tips or steps to follow at the dealership BEFORE you leave.

Thanks,
Max

Read through all 29 pages of comments here. Primarily you're looking for fit and finish issues. The rear wheel liners, the corners of the dash, and a wall piece by the back windows are all areas that people have reported to be ill fitting with gaps. I had an issue with the locking mechanism on the "tall mode" for the back seat. Rear view camera and lane watch cameras getting confused on screen. People have had to have their infotainment units replaced over this issue. Check also for paint quality issues--swirls and clear coat problems. Those are all the issues I rememver reading about when I was looking to buy my car (though the LX seems exempt from most of these issues).just remember to test every feature in the car. Look it over closely before you leave. Likely, there will be nothing wrong with it, but this thread should serve as a general guide of what to look out for. Good luck with your car! I hope it's perfect!

Look but don't freak out. The vast majority of these are as close to perfect as possible.

I wasted energy from reading all this and my car has been flawless.

Rear wheel well liners are certainly not "as close to perfect as possible" for many EX owners, and Honda has ignored the problem so far.

Check the fitment of the 4 doors. Open and close them and make sure nothing rubs and that the doors seem perfectly aligned when looking at the car from all front and back angles. Check for front and back bumper alignment as well. So far, I've noticed a few things on mine. The steering wheel is not quite centered when I'm on a perfectly straight road. It's minimal and not something I notice constantly but it's there. Also, I noticed lately that when I turn the steering wheel full circle, it rubs slightly with the solid plastic piece behind it. I wouldn't have noticed that by feel, it's the slight scraping noise that I noticed.

Very important: Check the car carefully for scratches BEFORE leaving the lot and don't accept a less than perfect finish. I didn't check mine carefully enough it seems. I just washed it today for the first time and noticed small irregular shaped fine scratches on the lower front and back bumper. I know for a fact that I didn't do those scratches myself whether by washing or rubbing with something abrasive. They were most probably there when the car was delivered but I never saw them. Scratches and paint finish issues seem to be a common and it's not normal when you pay for something new.

Enjoy your new acquisition.

I understand what you mean but sometimes flaws are exposed months after a purchase. It's not always immediately noticeable.

I would say the vast majority of what might be considered serious issues, existed in the initial batch of Fits that were released. The wheel liner issue might be the exception.

You have a warranty, and you can give the car a once over before taking it home. I would not let this thread prevent you from purchasing what is nothing short of a great car, at a great price. Reading this thread is the equivalent of watching the nightly news everyday, you get a little stressed each day at 6:00p.m.

As an alternative, try reading the threads where people who have no problems post. It is a nice balance, to this thread.

So I picked up my new fit yesterday and was pleasantly surprised aftet my inspection that the body was almost perfect except for Two small shallow scratches that they well fix . The doors and panels as well as the lights and sunroof fit well and have uniformed gaps without any rubbing.

The interior is flawless without any issues. So far so good.
Does anyone use the ECON mode ? Also does cruise control use less fuel ?

You'll find that many people use the ECON button and many people do not, it depends on your preference. For the average person, cruise control will be more efficient, however, if driven properly you will see higher MPGs without cruise.
