2009 Fit Sport Manual

I have been driving this Fit for three weeks and just closed the deal last night. I bought a 2009 Storm Silver Fit Sport M/T and paid $13,238 for it with help from cash for clunkers. I feel that I got a good deal and I really like this car.

Is a Silver AT Honda Fit Sport w/ Navi and everything OTD for $17,000 good deal? My parents are trying to get it for $16,000, but I highly doubt it will work and the $17,000 is from my brother's friend's discount at the Honda Dealership he works at.

One pet peeve of mine when it comes to discussing pricing: With the huge differences in taxes and registration fees from state to state, talking about "out the door" prices isn't helpful unless you happen to be in the same state.

$17k "out the door" sounds like a very good price for a Navi Fit, especially if it includes tax & reg. You must be in a state with no sales tax and low registration fees.

What is the price before taxes & registration?

That's an excellent price if you are able to get it.

Sounds high, but without detailing it all out (like I did in my post), it will be nearly impossible for anyone to tell you if it's a good deal or not. What is the purchase price INCLUDING destination charges....start with that and they we can give you an idea of if it's a good deal or not...

If you're paying $17k OTD including $4500 clunker rebate, you're probably not getting a good deal.

yeah i agree because they expect the $4,500 already a negotiation price taken off, so $17k+$4.5k=21.5k which is almost sticker price, what my parents are trying to do is $17 to $17.5k-$4.5k=$12.5 to $13k that we pay ourselves and the government rebate takes care of the rest.

Just got a 2009 Fit Sport w/ Navi A/T (I'm pretty sure it has all of the options) for invoice ($18,220) plus $670 destination + $500 dealer fees (they wouldn't negotiate on those) + tax. She also got $4500 for her old POS 98 Jeep Wrangler through the CARS program. I think all said and done she only had to finance somewhere in the $17k range.

Oh yeah.....the dealer also threw in floor mats, wheel locks, and a cargo tray. Not big expensive stuff but $72, $75, and $35 totalling another $182 (at College Hills Honda prices, which are low).

My purchase price was $732 UNDER invoice (not even counting the floor mats, cargo tray, or wheel locks) according to Edmunds who lists an invoice price (including destination charges) of $17,211

NOT BAD I think!

Thats my story and I'm sticking to it!

Damn, I thought I did good getting it at invoice. How'd you get it under? They gave me hell about getting it at invoice in the first place.

My story is similar.

$16,710 was the final "out the door" price I got between 3 dealers going at it - 2009 Fit Sport AT, black. No extras, no extended warranty. I used to hate this part, but I finally learned that humor is my best weapon. They know how ridiculous option/feature/extended warranty prices are...have some fun with it, crack some jokes/remarks...they laugh and move on.

Bottom line after clunker deal was $13,796.23.

...doing $593 for 24 months finance/purchase.

My deal certainly isn't the best, but I was outta there in a little over an hour, and I'm very happy with this car that lots a folks said, "dude, don't get that damn thing...at yer age do you wanna roll up next to some chick in a M5 and yer sportin THAT?!?!"

you are so lucky, my parents are trying to get that same deal as you, but the dealers we went to, they want $17,000 out the door with the cash for clunkers already included, im going to a couple more dealerships like 30 minutes away so im hoping i get a better deal than $17,000 out the door with cash for clunkers included.

Don't bother physically going to dealers, and don't use your parents. Use the internet. Build your fit on Honda's site, feed it some nearby zip codes (Aunts/Uncles/Grandparents are good too if they aren't too far away) and tell your dealer you're visiting folks and got this offer and see if they'll match it.

Our dealer not only matched, but beat, the internet offer from a dealer near my folks in Chicago. None of the internet dealers knew we were a CARS buy before they quoted me either.

The 15,6 OTD I posted earlier in ... apparently a different thread, so: Fit Sport AT w/Navi, bumper applique, cargo tray, and cloth mats ... is with a nice low 6.25% tax for the car (and no tax on the CARS money), but also has about 400 of extras I'm not sure I'd do again (cargo tray is flimsier than I was expecting, and the floor mats are kinda questionable with only the drivers locked down AND removable), but you should be able to do much better than 17k, even with unreasonable taxes. 16k or better if you aren't doing any extras.

You have to keep in mind, when looking at other people's prices, that the Fit Sport with navigation is almost $2k more than without! So the invoice price with destination on those is almost $19k, subtract the $4500 from CFC, add in tax and doc and registration fee... and I'd guesstimate you should be shooting for about/under $16k OTD.

If you don't need navigation, you could save almost $2k! And after having a Fit with it for a couple days... it's probably not worth the price if you don't care about VSA. The map graphics are dated and there's no bluetooth .

I'd suggest getting a few internet quotes, and if you have a friend with a Costco membership, give that a try. I got 2 internet quotes and a quote from Costco; one of the internet quotes turned out to be the cheapest, though the Costco quote was pretty good (still under invoice) and the salesperson was a lot less pushy.
