oops, sorry guys. The prices I quoted were OTD. I am not repulsed by the 17.8K price, but I was hoping for something like 17.5 or even 17.0 for the mt. I'm thinking of just going tomorrow to a few dealerships in the area and letting them know that if they can give me the sport mt with a set of floor mats for 17.5 OTD I'll sign the paperwork on the spot.

The guy that said he would give me the Fit for 17.4 just emailed me back and said I could order the one I want at his dealership with a deposit for this breakdown: $16,170.05 TMV Price + $99 Dealer Processing Fee + Tax 6% + $237 = $17,482.43(OTR)!

That is starting to sound like a good idea but check out the "appearance package" here and tell me which of these do I actually want? Just mud guards and wheel locks? The pinstripes are lame right? And what the heck are the color coded things?

Mud Guards
<img alt="" border="0"> Wheel Locks
<img alt="" border="0"> Color coded door edge guards
<img alt="" border="0">Color coded fender wheel trim
<img alt="" border="0">Pin Stripe

Thanks guys, hope this info helps other peeps out too. Once again this is for the DC/Baltimore metro area.

I'm in Long Island NY, so NY taxes can be a killer. Anyway, I sat down with a dealer tonight and got a price of 16,560 for a sport AT that was on the lot. I didn't like the color- tide water blue. I want storm silver. They said they'd hook me up for one in that color for the same price, arrival approx 5 days. Well, great! The 16,560 of course ballooned to almost 18,900 when factoring in destination, tax, and dmv paperwork- the paperwork being totally fair, not a rip off. Tax in these parts amounts to 1,500 on this sucker.

The guy assured me that at contract, no other fees would factor in. The OTD price would be 18,900- just a bit under in fact. I left without buying because this was over what I was optimally planning for. I REALLY wanted 18,000 OTD, period, as my HIGHEST. That's what I setup my whole financing structure for. After two separate dealer visits and estmiates via emails, I'm convinced I can't really do appreciably much better than this. I'll probably return Monday and buy the car. He didn't pressure me or say the deal would be no good if I walked- the deal stands as is. He assured me no other fees would be involved at contract. Hmmm! He tried for a deposit, but I didn't go for it. I'll pony up 500 bucks in deposit on a CC, with a 'buyers approval' on the car term, or a full refund if the car I want happens to show up NOT the car I want.

These numbers are a wee bit loose because I don't have my notes in front of me-

Sport AT- 16,560- confirmed
OTD- 18,900
C4C 4,500- confirmed
Down Payment- 3,760
Finance the rest at my credit union, for which I am approved @ 4.74 They also make the first month payment- on the house. Nice!

I called Gieco of course, because of that goofy commercial and actually got a great price on full coverage- just under 900 bucks a year. That's VERY good, imo, but why not? I have no tickets, no accidents and a credit rating of 934. Insurance figures in too, when budget planning.

Anyway, that's the skinny for now. I don't think that's far off the 'good' mark here in NY. I'll let you know the end result.

Dan

hello folks, noob here.

I got a quote today for a Fit Sport AT at invoice (17200) + tags + tax. Lowest I've seen.

Anyway, two quick questions:

1) umm the fit comes with floor mats right? in the invoice price?
2) anybody know the dealer price for the armrest? I'm gonna ask them to throw that in.

thanks

Oh. I'm too cheap to get the consumer reports.

Does anyone know roughly the invoice pricing for

1) carpet floor mats or all weather floor mats?
2) the center console accessory.

thanks

I'm looking to pick it up today.

If anyone happened to have bought one in PA (philly area) can you tell me where you got it? And did you pay a doc fee.

I'll post my OTD pricing after I pick up my new car

I paid 16,479 including destination charges.

1 - Floor mats are extra. You can find pretty good prices on them at College Hills Honda (online vendor). I got mine included for nothing extra. I also got locking lug nuts, cargo tray, and rear bumper applique' on mine for nothing additional. I have yet to see anyone who got a better price than me, though - you did better than most buying it at invoice!

2 - I don't know the dealer cost on the armrest/console, but you can buy it for about $180 from College Hills Honda. The factory ones look to be pretty good quality...I wish they would have included it with the base car, personally. I think it's College Hills who also has a really nice install video for the armrest. I was thinking about getting one (before I picked up the car), but truthfully the standard armrest has been working fine for me so far.

Thanks Warner. I actually read your story and you got a great deal, albeit an extraordinary one because of the dealer.

I wish they'd throw in the floor mats but I'm ready to just buy them off the internet for about $100 shipped.

Yeah...I think I did about $500 better becaue of the "confusion" at the dealer..Haha. But check College Hills Honda...they seem to have about the lowest prices on that kind of stuff. One thing that I'm pretty sure I WILL do it put the Honda Accord horn in the Fit. It's only $15 plus shipping and seems to be a super easy install and makes a BIG difference in the sound of the horn. College Hills Honda has the install video on their site for this, too....

Good Luck!

Wow....the no tax part made it about $1,000 cheaper than it would have been here!

I think the base price for the Sport was 17, 200
I used $4,500 for cash for clunkers and $3,000 down.
It came to $11,200

Great Deal

09 Fit Sport with Navigation, 16,000 out the door!

A brief explanation might help someone else get a great deal as well.
I live in Houston and there are alot of Honda dealers in the area so that was a factor.
Goodson Honda is a local dealer here that has 4 or 5 different Honda lots.

I started at North side location and the salesman would go no lower than 17,500. We told him we needed 17,000 or we would walk. Well, we walked.

So we go over to the West side Goodson Honda and the salesman there budged. He gave us a deal for 17,000 OTD but he was giving us problems on my Cash for Clunker paperwork. He said I needed a years worth of receipts proving registration and I would have to go to the DMV to get copies.

You couldn't pay me $500 to sit in a DMV line all day.

So I call the North side guy back and told him the deal I was just offered
and he said he would now do it, but without the hassle of the DMV.
I told my wife to get in the car we were going over to pick up the car.

Now here's where the luck came in.

We got to the dealer and realized I left the title for my clunker with the other dealer. The guy says no problem, take this demo over there, get your title and come back. So I left my wife there to fill out ppwk

When I got to the other dealer to get the title, the sales manager asks me "Why couldn't we make a deal for you today". I flat out lied and said I was offered $16,500. He looked down at his computer and says "how about $16,000 OTD" Um DEAL. Called the wife to give her the news and to give the other dealer one last chance, but he wouldn't go any lower.

Through this negotiation process both dealers started out at $21,000 OTD
and explaining to us how there isn't any mark up on the Fit's. Funny how they were saying this as we were talking them all the way down to $16k.
Don't fall for it. They have atleast $5k markup in these cars. Pit these dealers against each other and stand firm on your offer, you will get a great deal.

Congrats on the new Fit! Was that OTD price including the CFC or not? (If not, that's SUPER hot...) And auto or manual?

Sorry, should've been clear on that. $16k out the door with the CFC. Included: Automatic, floor mats, rear cargo trey, navigation.

If I had to do it all over again, I would have negotiated a rock bottom price without telling them I had a CFC and then drop that bomb on them later.
They imply that you are getting such a good deal because of the CFC, but in reality they lose nothing on it b/c of the gov't reimbursement.

Wow, I can't believe they were quoting $21K OTD including the CFC. That's just criminal!

I got a 2009 Base Automatic Fit for $15,363 (including destination fee) + $159 admin fee, and Missouri tax.
It's blue sensation, they didn't toss in floor mats or anything like that.
I had a cash for clunker ($4500 off that price), and I put $4500 down. My clunker was a 96 Jeep Cherokee.

The price was good enough that I thought further negotiation was unnecessary; I got internet quotes from the local dealers, and took the lowest quote (which is quite a bit under invoice), and brought it to the dealer with the best reputation, and that offers free car washes.

I'm pretty pleased!

Hey all I thought these two sites could help everyone. www.truecar.com will tell you the prices people are paying in your zip code and www.honda-cars-insider-advice.com will tell both Americans and Canadians what the invoice price is and the incentives that can be applied to Honda's. It also has some ways to negotiate to get better prices. Actually a third site is www.gasbuddy.com which lets consumers post the best gas prices for cities in Canada and the States. Hope you find these useful.

Got mine home today! 18,760 OTD for an AT Sport w/o navi. C4C for 4,500. This car wasn't on the lot- took four days to find and get me a silver one. At the moment, here on Long Island NY, this OTD price for an AT sport will be tough beat, if at all. I tried, and this was the best. Good luck New Yorkers!

And of course, I LOVE THIS CAR! Whoo Hoo!

Dan
