No car action today. Was in my music room pretty much all morning messing with my new setup.
Pm pretty much played with the kids, did some house chores. Will be getting some more snow this week but the temps are pretty low so not expecting much accumulation. Should be a quick week.

was a pretty chilly 10F this am when i left for work. no issue with the Fit. i can kinda tell though that the dino oil makes the engine run a tad rougher vs synthetic during cold start. anyway no issue.
still amazes me how we keep running into dumb drivers in the am. thought we would pass this stage by now but they dont learn. like cutting people off unintentionally due to not checking blind spot, forgetting to stop for a schoolbus with its red lights flashing and almost smashing into 3 stopped cars (hello? anyone inside that air cave of a little head you have you f-king dumbarse?)
..or driving zigzag 8mph under speed limit while searching for something inside their car. lol
anyway, still was a pretty enjoyable drive to work while dogging these idiots.
hahaha.

was 12F when i went out to run a quick errand during lunch. my gearbox seems to want to grind due to the cold oil but i can feel it through the shifter when not to push further into the gate.
hahaha. not bad though considering my G would pretty much lock me out of 1st gear in this weather until she's warmed up the FitS enters the gates with only slightly stubborn than usual.

got my Fit some gas last night. i noticed gas prices has gone up a tad... not that it matters much filling up the Fit.
since my car looks so ghetto with the steelies im starting to consider getting some wheel covers from ebay. my neighbors weren't too excited seeing my crappy looking car on the driveway. lol not that i really care, but it does impact the community's appearance since it is parked outside often. hummmm....

i have near zero experience with hubcaps (wheel covers) but from wat i read not all steelies are shaped the same and could potentially lead to too loose/tight of a fit. so decided to check out tirerack's offerings since they've tested fitment with their steelies. (i bought my snow set from them). none of them look that great so decided not to get them.
hahahaha.
i'll just need to keep my eyes closed when i approach my car until Spring.
never know, people might feel sorry and leave donations on my car.
i will then use the cash to buy toys for toys for tots (toy drive).
so tonight into tomorrow we're expecting some snow. sounds good. it was fun driving my FitS in snow.

it didnt' snow as much as i hoped, but had a few turns to do some arse-drag drift this am.
was kinda fun, but it was a lot more fun last weekend with more snow.
so tomorrow it's suppose to snow some more so looking forward to that. people out in my neighborhood is finally beginning to realize my car has snow tires and not wheels with stolen hubcaps.
a guy in a awd A4 was impressed how well i was able to keep up with him in the deeper snow when the light changed.

Saturday went by in a flash. Motored the Fit to run some errands and pretty much spent the rest of the day in my music room.
Suppose to snow all day today and get some nasty cold temps by tomorrow. Im sure my cars wil be fine.

kinda chilly this am at around 12F and windchill -25F or something. anyway, my GD started with no problem. i didnt even warm up the car more than 30sec while i scraped some snow/ice off. drove gently until the water temp icon turned off and then drove 3K RPM+ cruising speed rest of the trip to work.
keeping the rev's high charges the battery, rids moisture from the exhaust system, gets the oil temp to where it evaporates moisture effectively for a healthy engine, and keeps the car warm inside.
i remember years ago my brand new 06 civic would literally not start on cold mornings due to the crap battery honda installed on that car.

was even colder this am 2F or something, no issue starting the GD.
the tranny was kind of stubbon going into 1st the first 3-4min but not too bad. again i motored 3K + RPM to work. hopefully by tomorrow we'll be back in the 20F's...
im okay with 20F but once below 15F it feels kinda cold. 0F and under kind of annyoing cold. -5F and below is very cold for me. but then folks out in northern canada have temps -40F and windchill -80F as a 'kinda chilly' winter day. hahahahaha.
not much car things planned. been looking at some future potential wheel options for my Z. i dont plan on lowering the car so i need to use offsets that are not too aggressive. im happy to see there are more offerings than before.

hey looks like the new VW-R is going to be offered in 4door with MT!
scheduled release late next year. wow, this is perfect timing.
if you read back to one of the first pages of my blog i was originally looking at the R32 but i gave up on it due to the DSG gearbox (i hate auto's) and only comes in a 3-door hatch. i have 2 little kids so it's clumsy only having 2 doors and i still prefer having some cargo space as i carry my music gear at times, tires, wheels, home improvement items, etc. with the money i 'saved..' with the GD, i got the GE for the wife since the legacywgn crapped out on us.
by the time im ready to part with the GD in late 2012 (maybe early 2013), the R would be well into production and worked out the initial bugs.
i would probably sell the aging G35C by then and trade the GD in, keep my Z as my fun car.
The GE will still be around probably for a few more years after that and be traded in for a C-series benz.
starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

another cold morning, no issue with the GD... but i lazyed up too much on scraping the glass and i had to pull off the side of the road when direct sunlight hit the windsheild after i made a turn heading east. my glass went completely white from the reminance of salt/ice crappage and i could not see a thing. hahaha.
next time i need to go buy a bottle of washer fluid with deicing mix.
regular -20F washer fluid just freezes as soon as it wipes.

so if i make it to 12/31 without buying a new car, this will be the first year in over a decade where i did not buy a new car.
im just hoping my GD doesn't suddenly breakdown and forces me to buy something.

sounds like there's yet another recall on the GD's this time for headlight control switch. lol i think they're taking about the stalk wearing our or something, not sure.
ive not yet taken the car in for the other recall about the driver door switch cover fixer upper thingie.
hahaha. i'll take it in maybe 2012 or 2013 to a VW dealership and they can fix it.

man, it's been a short yet long yet short week. need to yank out the xmas tree from the basement over the weekend and dress it up for sure... no more excuses (or time left).
not much action planned for the weekend as far as car things... will motor the GD around to do some errands. will see if i can find a good deal on a autowash too.

was a busy weekend for me so didn't get to post anything over the weekend.
i ran a few errands in my GD on Sat but that was it...was inside all day in my music room pretty much sat and sun so no car things. as far as decorating for xmas we have the smaller ornaments out but no tree yet. i doubt we're doing the tree this year looking at our schedule. it would be a shame if we were Christians but we're not and we're actually only celebrating Santa so i guess we can go without the tree?
*kenchan scratching his head...*
i did take a moment to check up on my G and Z in the garage
(while taking out the trash from the kitchen to the garage). wat i check are battery manager indicators to ensure that the batteries are floating correctly and also pop the hood to check for any mice eating on harnesses. i've never had rats/mice in my house so im not too worried but i just check anyways. those things just start all of a sudden so i never take any chances. trash can is always closed, trash bags wrapped tight, mothballs inside the cans, no recycle bin in the garage, making sure no grains or crums are on the floors, no candy or foods on the workbench, etc.
i just realized i havent bought anything for my cars to give as xmas presents... hummmm...

got some snow over night, no biggie. 3" is like nothing for my Fit's.
so i saw this new Nissan Juke driving around this am. i was pleasantly surprised how it looked werd, yet kinda cool. i actually felt something. 99% of the time when i see a normal priced import i dont feel anything other than convenient, well made, or reliable, or dumb looking, or something more negative, like who the hell buys a green yaris?! your kia looks like a donky mobile, etc, etc.
so tonight im going to fry up a nice ribeye.
wife bought us some nice sized steaks over the weekend.

got a light coat of freezing rain this am.... not too bad, snow tires were gripping very well too.
unlike awd cars on all-season tires, snow tires on our cars do not have that false sense of security so it's good. for instance awd will accelerate pretty well in snow/ice but when it comes to braking they slip like any other car running all-season tires. with snow tires on my GD/GE they bite down when i tell the cars to brake.
so last night i did some quick checks on the nissan juke online. other than the werdness in the cosmetics dept, it's got a 6MT option and can do 0-60 in about 7 sec. that's pretty good for a 4banger turbo xcross over. i felt it was like a miniature Infiniti FX.
might look into it more down the road. price is only like $25K fully equipped. on the contrary, where the hell is honda with their 20K-range performance eco-hatch?

Ran some errands this am. While at the bank we talked to some 30+yr old lady to talk about our account. My kids were also there but the lady basically made zero eye contact with the kids and didn't even say hello to them. We were there for 30min or so, kids were quiet and behaving.
After we left wife commented about the lady how she ignored the kids. Basically I told her some folks don't have kids and don't know how to interact with them. Its a sad sight really cause it shows how the person had not officially grown up even though they might be smart or appear mature physically but not psychologically. You don't need to have your own kids but need to know how to interact with kids if you are human, imho.
it's real easy, ask them wat they got for xmas or wat they like to do in school.. etc.
Anyway, might be pulling out the GD later again to pickup some Chinese.
