What do you mean? I'm just keeping my car clean! Part of "basic" maintenance in my book I wanna run it into the ground...but maybe my kid will end up with it in 3-4 years instead...who knows.

I like your "I intend to keep it 8 more years" comment lol. That's pretty committed isn't it?

Not you haha, some other guys who mentioned making their fits future weekend/project cars, keeping them forever, etc.

I do my best to protect my cars as well

8 years is a result of me being cheap, not necessarily passion

That figure is now in doubt as I've seen how cheap BMW i3 have gotten on the used market, would be a really solid replacement for my Fit.

I installed a Flaming River FR1002 battery disconnect switch because I'm always working with the electrical system these days.

My fog light bulbs went out at the same time...weird. So replaced with some COB/LED types I found on amazon. Its still a yellow light but somehow its a different hue. pretty bright but hard to tell just how bring since you can't just turn off the headlights and have the fog lights on..or if you can do that I have no clue how.

Got my winter wheels on today. I'd never swapped wheels myself, oddly. I don't really have a garage or work space for my car, so I borrowed my friend's garage. Also my first time using an impact gun. My god that makes the job quick. We were done in no time.

My paranoia makes me want to double check everything in a day or two, but I have an extra $40 in my pocket from doing it myself.

Put on a fresh set of 4 General Altimax RT43s. I went with a 185/60 on the std steel rims. 2nd set of Altimax, excellent tire value $270 done. Lots of grip, quiet, no bad habits. I keep them @ 45 psi

Here are some before pics that kinda show what I'm talking about.

Pics at the detail place and then home. My car was the "cheap" car there as there was a ferrari 458, mcclaren and mercedes g-wagon there getting worked on as well lol.

I thought my car looked good when it was clean before....but MAN it looks freaking top notch now!
Damn bro... I need paint correction and wax as well. How much did all of this run you?

Well, it's been awhile since I've actually done anything. Since I don't have a car this first semester it's hard to get anything done lol. I went home for the weekend and FINALLY "rebuilt" my coilovers. When I first installed them two summers ago, I had no clue what I was doing for the most part. Luckily, everything actually turned out okay, except for the nut on top of the upper spring perch. That nut was never fully tightened, so it came loose awhile back. Because of this, the front suspension felt loose and I could hear clunking noises at low speeds. This time around, I used an impact gun to fully tighten/torque this nut down, and reinstalled everything correctly. Let me just say, the difference is night and day. The car actually handles like it should. I also removed the inner fender liners, as I was rubbing frequently. All that's left is to roll the fenders, and my fitment will be set. On the same note, I experimentally added a little bit of negative camber to the front, in order to reduce rubbing and tuck better. I'm surprised at how much of a difference it makes while turning, now it feels like a go kart. I need to get a performance shop to professionally align the front and get the camber just right, but for now all is well, and the car tracks straight, so it's okay since I won't be putting any miles on the car for another month or so.

Changed the oil as well, using Mobil 1 0W-20 Extended Performance, and used a Mobil 1 filter also. On my last oil change, I believe I had too much oil, resulting in a higher-than-recommended oil pressure, which I believe degraded the performance of the engine. I had also used 5W-30 (I didn't spend time researching my oil choice, I hope this didn't cause any damage). This time around, I was sure to put very close to 3.8 US Quarts in, and I feel like this has made a noticeable difference in performance.

Until next time, FitFreak.

Well the detail/wash/clay/wax was a special my detailer was running and cost me about $140.

It got rid of like 99% of the oxidation and the swirls are not visible unless you are looking at a certain angle and within 3ft/1m of the car in direct sunlight lol.

I was afraid of needing to repaint the front bumper since the oxidation on the clear was so bad but they were able to restore it to a nice shine so I am not in any hurry to repaint anymore.

Needless to say the previous owner did a $#!+ job at taking care of this paint. Shows how much a little TLC can make your car look like new/$1 million

Awesome pics and GE Xtina! Always great to add to my GE slideshow background. Not to mention you have convinced me to smoke the clear portion of my taillights! Did you do that? Is that smoke paint? Vinyl?

The curvature of the taillight has me concerned about trying with Vinyl...maybe I just need to take my time with it. I do not want to paint in the event I want to remove it back to clear.

Also that hood bra has some SERIOUS coverage! The OEM one I have is half the size of that!

Lastly, what size tire are those? I know you did a Eibach pro drop with those enkeis which are 15x6.5. Are those stock size tires? Just trying to get an idea of your drop/tire size in comparison to mine as I like the way yours fill the wheel well =)

Put my back seats and spare tire back in before the weather permanently stays cold.

They were easy to take out, but a damn pain to put back in.

Thanks for the compliments. I love your rims. such a nice colour. the tires are stock size. 175 i believe. I will be putting on 185-95 when these run low. the tint is just vinyl. its not too hard. just heat and water and it will go over any contours. make sure to cut it to the shape after it's on and do it while the lights are on the car. so much easier. There's prolly some good youtube vids on how to do it.
