I'm looking into sound deadening the spare wheel well. The bowl like shape just amplifies the sound.

We will see how it turns out.

That'd be a good idea-- since you're fine with how it sounds outside haha.

ok bmw alpina, I got back in town on sunday and picked up my car, your rims/hubs/bilstein (and new rubber) has been installed. They werent able to get the vss out of the old hubs so I still have to deal with that, but I have to say the ride quality is fantastic and far more sophisticated than stock. Also it looks pretty baller. I didn't slam it or anything, the ride hight is pretty conservative and I'll play with that a bit over time. I am going to order a wilwood front kit tomorrow (partly because I am due for a refresh) and just a heads up to people, looks like the price has jacked a bit in the past few week.

Overall, it got rid of a drone noise that I'm pretty sure was a wheel bearing going out. It still has a little bounce to it on certain pavement but it is a shorter travel and better dampered. Overall, the road handling feels like I stepped up to something like a bmw, it is just a world of difference and far beyond the sure footed experience I was anticipating. I don't know why I didn't do this years ago.

So moving forward, the brakes are going to get a big boost this month, and I'm going to make more headway on the sound deadening (although just this change up addressed most of the reasons I was doing it in the first place). Later this year, I'll probably do a katzkin leather conversion and set my eyes on some significant power adders.

Hi Bensevil,

Please post pictures,
I kinda miss the look of the OZ Superturismo GT

By the way,
You think exactly like me
When I first install the Bilstein,
I also feel that the car now ride like a BMW..
and here is my comment about it:
https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/2nd-...ml#post1185733

Also congratulations on the Wilwood Kit,
I am sure you will enjoy the better (Wilwood) braking system than the stock brake!

if in the future you want even less body roll,
you will be able to get it by installing Spoon Front Sway Bar and Rear Progress Sway Bar...

and please don't forget someone here (me ) still trying to sell a used (SPORT) rear axle which also came with factory integrated sway bar inside the rear axle and only have about 33k miles on it

For shits and giggles I took out the spare and put in some old furniture pads into the well. It did a considerable difference. But that's not practical, so hopefully the deadening works as well or better.

Nice haha yea big amount of sound coming from that and the trunk panel too; well I mean basically everywhere but it's especially bad in the back when you change up the exhaust haha.

I decided to insert the silencer back into the exhaust outlet and it made a world of difference. I am going to keep it in for the time being.

I don't get the drone anymore, except when stomping on the gas, and even then its more way less than half.

I know silencers aren't cool, but I like it so much better with it.

Might even decide to go the tanabe touring medallion down the line (I've heard there is no drone).

Hmm.. I think you probably should've held out on the resonator delete first and seen if you liked it already with the axleback alone haha.. I have a feeling you'll still get drone with the tanabe with the res-delete;

In hindsight yes that would have been ideal. But the muffler shop I went to removed the resonator first then installed the muffler.

I don't think I can put the resonator back on

Ah. I actually installed the muffler myself and had them do the res-delete a little while after when I wasn't satisfied with the sound haha. How come you can't put it back on? I still have my resonator somewhere in my house lol it's basically a cut and weld again. My dad had it put back when he didn't like his loss in low-end torque on his civic.

Have a custom B made pipe with an aftermarket resonator? Vibrant makes a huge variety of them, and probably a dozen other companies. A shop would probably stock their preferred brand, and could advise on something that would work for you.

Hi Mr. Hollow,

I still have a Dynomax 24234 resonator, (4in diameter, 2.25in inlet/outlet)
I only use it for like a week and I took it out because I weld it between the second cat and the factory resonator location so it was too low to the ground and I keep on scraping the resonator each time I go through speed bump, so I had to change it with smaller diameter Vibrant resonator.

I personally like the Dynomax 24234 sound better than the Vibrant sound,
but I ran out of place under the car to weld it and still have enough ground clearance so I am stuck with the Vibrant for now...

If you currently don't have any resonator,
then you can put this Dynomax 24234 resonator at the location where the factory resonator is and there are plenty of space to make it have enough ground clearance there.

New is around $46 at Amazon,
if you are interested,
I will sell it to you for just $20 but you have to pick it up at my home in Mission Viejo

You do have to get a muffler shop welded it for you though...
oh and please note that this resonator have larger diameter than stock piping but
I am sure a muffler shop can figure it out.

When I have this resonator combine with the Civic Si resonator and Civic Si muffler,
the sound was very very deep like a BMW 6 cylinder engine...
with the Vibrant that I currently use, the sound is not as deep...
it is funny that the Dynomax appearance looks ugly compare to the Vibrant resonator, but the sound is deeper (and better for me)...

I am currently thinking on how I can make it deep again but with enough ground clearance...

I didn't know you could weld it back on. I didn't tell him that was an option so i don't know if he left any extra piping to weld it back to the stock piping. It might be cut off to the edge. I still have it in a box.

IDK now what to do lol.

1) Keep the megan exhaust and re-weld the resonator.
2) Replace megan exhaust with tanabe exhaust with resonator delete
3) Put on stock muffler with resonator delete and see how that sounds

Either way my wallet is shaking his head

That is an option also, I guess my biggest concern is just hacking up the piping so much by messing around with too many options. I still have the stock resonator for now.

Thanks for the info BMW, I still have my stock resonator, this issue is if there is enough piping left on the resonator to weld back to the stock piping. I am not really sure how that whole welding thing works.

Not sure if the cut was too close to weld back onto the stock piping

Looks like mine haha, I mean it looks like there's enough to weld back on. I'm no expert on this though so don't take my word for it. I never planned to put mine back on anyway lol
