Yeah, I know I need to tint the windows, helps so much. As fro the armrest, it wont get in the way of a manual?

 

I have an AT, but the installation instructions reference both MT and AT, so I think the answer is no, not in the rear position. One of the nice features of the Honda armrest is that it slides back and forth (with a secure locking mechanism; it's not going to move accidentally).

 

Finally... the 2010's are available in Canada. The update was posted on the Honda Canada website Dec. 21. The good news is that VSA w/traction control is available or the first time in Canada on the Fit Sport. Honda's slogan "Safety for Everyone" now includes Canadians. I didn't notice any other differences in between the 2009s and 2010s. More good news is that the MSRP dropped $500 to (Can$)18,780 for the Sport manual and 19,980 for the Sport auto.

 

Bought my Fit Sport A/T on 12/16 for @ $19,400 (after all the taxes & 'fees'). Just filled w/ gas for the first time at 364 miles. MPG meter showed average of 34.5, but calculation showed 38.2. (Personally, I'd take either one!) Love everything about it so far.

 

Greetings. After being a longtime Toyota Owner (an MR2 Spyder) and partaking in a forum dedicated to that vehicle, I have made the transition to a 2010 Fit. Thankfully the forum ovwer there (Spyderchat) is the same format as this so the transition is easy, however over there I was known as Greenskulker, hence the avatar for now being green. Once I find a more appropriate one, I'll fully convert.

Paid about $17,900 sticker, but my trade was valued at $8,500 so the difference was not too bad. I have had it now since last saturday, and have only driven it three times. We bought a new Civic, at the same dealer about 2 weeks prior to this, so the choice of driving the new car is difficult. So far all I have done is order a set of wheel locks, just to be safe and am having them shipped to my place of business. Also figured out the door locks, it wasn't too hard, and helps cross train me on the Civic's functions as well.


EDIT: Well the avatar selection wasn't too hard. May be a bit evil looking but I'm just a 46 year old guy with Blue and Skul in his user ID, so it seemed to fit.

 

I'm waiting on a silver 2010 Sport Manual to arrive on Tuesday morning. This will be my first NEW car.

I have wanted a Fit since 2006, tried to talk wife into getting one then, but she ended up in a Matrix instead. Now it's my turn.

Wasn't easy to find a manual trans though. Last week there were 4 in my area, then Saturday they were all gone. I almost talked myself into getting an auto but then one of the 5 dealers I've been talking with agreed to bring one in from another state.

Haven't settled on final price yet, but his initial offers are decent and I think we are within range of each other.

I will have to resist the urge to modify it because I am an eternal tinkerer. I would like to tint the windows, add a stiffer rear sway bar, and more aggressive tires once the originals wear out. Further down the road an exhaust system would be nice (mainly for the sound, not much power really).

This is my first post here. I've been on the miata.net forums for many years. I still have my 92' Miata, which has a lot of power mods (turbo, ECU, exhaust, etc). My 2.5 year old son calls it "papa's race car". He calls my Protege "papa's silver car", which should continue once I get the new silver Fit.

Wow - that's great that they added the VSA for us Canucks, especially since they are reducing its availability in the US (only on auto Sports now).

I did notice that we don't get the option of the BBP colour anymore.

wooo hooo! i've been waiting since August for the 2010's to arrive. i'm just waiting for them to start arriving at the dealership. i'm getting a Tidewater blue LX with the AT.

 

That's what I've been wondering. Some of the online pricing sites are showing that people are paying well OVER MSRP.

A year and a half ago, I looked at a Kia Rio5 when gas was $4/gallon. The dealer had attached his own sticker over the Kia sticker with a $1400 mark-up over MSRP. The salesperson told me that they could do that since they couldn't keep them on the lot. I just laughed and walked away. When I drive by there now, the Kia's don't seem to be going anywhere. So much for the arrogant dealer fee!

One dealer informed me that "there is NO mark-up on the Fit" and then proclaimed, "The Fit is very popular, so there aren't many available".

I replied, "They'll make more!"

 

Got my silver Fit Sport MT today.

It was actually the only positive dealership experience I've ever had. No games, no BS, no deception. Their out the door price quoted to me via email was the lowest in the metro area--$250 lower than the bid I had calculated using the dealer cost minus holdback formula. They also matched college hills honda's prices on all the accessories I wanted (all-weather mats, cargo cover, net, and body side molding). Gave me $1000 for my trade which has a failing water pump and "suspect clutch" but they only noticed the clutch (2000 Protege with 181K miles).

It was so easy, I kept looking for a hidden camera. I figured I must be on candid camera because this was all too good to be true. Complete opposite experience from buying my wife's Matrix at a different dealer 2 years ago. Well worth the 40 minute drive past 3 other Honda dealers.

Here's my 80-mile review:
So far I love the car. The ride is firm and sporty--feels tossable although the electric steering has some numbness. I also notice how the revs don't want to drop when I shift gears--that and the Honda clutch will take some getting used to. I will eventually autocross the car just for fun to see how it fares. I have a turbo Miata for such purposes but I was much more competitive in my old 92' Integra. Too much stiff competition in the Miata classes, especially the modified ones.

The audio isn't as good as the aftermarket system in my Protege, but no new car in this price range has had a comparable audio system to that one (sound-wise). Ergonomically--the car is great, and I can't wait to try the USB audio setup. It needs a window tint as you already know--my neck got a suntan today. The carpet is unbelievably cheap-- and I'd replace it in a heartbeat if I get a good deal on something better. All in all it has all of the Honda-ness I wanted, and is a lot of car for the money. I cannot wait until Tuesday when the car will be complete (IMHO) after I pick up and install the cargo cover and side moldings.

I also plan to protect the A/C condenser soon with a visit to Lowe's.

I got a 2010 Fit, base model, manual, blue sensation. Each dealer tried to tell me there were no manuals available. I wont name dealers, but they didn't even try to trade one in for me. I wanted a crystal black pearl fit, but I needed a car asap, its winter. I had my brother call some honda dealers around and we found a blue sensation fit. Good enough I needed a daily driver. I love it, and I am gonna probably do some mods to it. Mainly looks, but eventually motor work. I have a 2009 Civic Si with a JDM Type R conversion on it. Here is a link to a photo shoot I did in it. I do plan on putting a crystal black pearl tailgate spoiler on my fit, and change out the emblems to the jdm red honda badges, and the jazz badges. I am also gonna throw my Type R badge on my jazz. I bought the badge for my civic and I didnt put it on there because of the color scheme.

Guess I should post in here. I bought a 2010 Fit Sport with Automatic transmission last Sunday. I'm still waiting for the dealer to find one in the color I want - Blackberry Pearl. I'm happy with the price I got, it was much lower than everyone else was quoting me, but I did my research and came in prepared with it all printed out and gave the price I wanted and it didn't take me too long to get the dealership to agree. Which was surprising to me, mostly because this is the first time I ever bought a new car and I expected the negotiation process to be long and harrowing.

Waiting for them to locate a car for me, that's harrowing!!

 

I just became a proud owner of a 2010 Base Fit AT in Sensation Blue Pearl. I got it on 12/30/09 at Dublin Honda, CA.

I want to give a shout out to Blueskulker (Greenskulker). I traded in my 2002 MR2 Spyder as well for the Fit. I was also on Spyderchat for years and my user name there was MR2Union. Anyway, It was kinda nice to meet someone in the cyber space who has very similar tastes in vehicles.

 

You know, The car was supposed to have carpet mats in it. But when it arrived it had the all-season mats instead. I was surprised that they weren't as ugly as I'd expected so I kept the all-weather mats and have been quite happy with them.

I got the stuff to make a grille protector from Lowe's but it's been too cold to install it (8* F right now)...

 

I am curious what is considered a "good" price? Edmunds shows a Fit manual sport invoice to be $16,539, with MRSP being $17,120. Most the dealers in my area are listing it at MRSP, except for one that is about $1,000 over. The guy who is $1,000 over is willing to bring it down to MRSP, and his dealership has free oil changes (and he is 5 minutes from my house). I don't want to get something for nothing, but I also don't want to overpay.

 

They can go much lower than that MSRP and even lower than invoice. I got my 2010 Sport AT for 16,700 plus tax. For a MT you can get much lower than that. $17,120 sounds way high to me. What I did was I did a lot of research about what people were paying, what their invoice was and what their holdback is (which is usually just a couple hundred bucks at Honda). Then I looked up all the quotes I could get on the car; I had the Edmunds' quote, but that seemed high to me, so then I looked into some car buying programs I can take advantage of as a member of different things. I looked into the Costco auto-buying program price, and then I looked into the American Express auto buying program and that gave me the absolute lowest price. So I printed out that quote, brought it in, told the dealer that I was going to buy the car that day but if they could come in under this price, I'd buy it from them instead, and after a little bit of arguing and trying to get me to agree to pay more, they caved and shook on 16,700. Which might not be the best price in the world that anyone has ever gotten, but I was happy with it. It was my first time buying a car so I felt pretty proud of myself for getting the price I wanted.

 

I pay no attention to the list price. I compare totals. What are they charging you for conveyance and any other dealer fees?

Personally, I don't think paying MSRP is all that bad for this car if you want a MT and a specific color. Sure, you hear reports of people getting great deals but it all depends on the location, supply, color, etc. You can't get blood from a stone so if you want a car in short supply, you gotta make it worth the dealer's while because they will have another buyer in a day or two.

I was tracking cars and white MT Fits in my area were not on the lots for very long. This is what I paid a month ago and it may not be a great price but I was happy with the deal and I am not sure I could have done much better if I had stood on my head.

I like it as a drive but I dont drive very economically but still getting the mpg listed on the sticker.
