so heres, my story:
on the day i was going to purchase my new 2010 honda fit, i had an appointment at goudy honda, but the morning i woke up, my mom talked my dad into telling me to buy it used instead. i said okay, sounds good i kind of wanted a gd3 anyway.
so i look around online and find a tafetta white (color of my choice) gd3..07 with about 30k miles on it. it was located at the mini cooper dealership in irvine ca. i drive down there but the guy wouldnt give it to me any less then 14k otd. so brian from goudy honda (appointment that i missed from goudy honda) called me and told me to come in to check out some of his used gd3.
i go into goudy honda while it was closing. he told me that they made lots of sales that day, and he can give me a deal. so i spotted a tw ge8 in the lot and fell for it o.o, love at first sight i must say. the drawback was that it was loaded with all sorts of accessories such as: window tint, door moldings, center arm console, cargo cover, and door sills. the sticker said 23k O.O he told me not to worry, thats just to fool dumbasses so i said okay.
he then told me how his commissions work for the honda fits, he only makes 75 dollars for each fit he sells so he didnt care about marking it up on me since he already sold lots of cars that day.
his manager then approved for him to match my quote of 17k with destination from another dealer, and give me all the accessories for free.
otd price came out to 19k
the manager got a little mad when he found out how many accessories were actually on the car, and found out that they lots 800 on the sale =X
so i pretty much got a steal!

I bought my '10 Sport (Blue Sensation) two weeks ago from Continental Honda here in Anchorage. I had actually placed a deposit on it the day before it was built, back in April. I patiently, although anxiously, awaited its arrival.
My buying experience was a little unexpected, in a weird way. The sales staff at the dealership are patient and professional. My sales guy was about one notch above average, I guess. The spoiler was the lady with bad hair, mini-skirt and no stockings from the Finance office. She had quite the attitude when I declined her offer to finance the car instead of paying cash, rust protection and extended warranty. She started getting curt, finally repeating that I need to make sure that I really like the car because there are NO refunds. Again, NO refunds, so I better be sure. Bitch, please.
I've had a lot of fun with the car so far. It takes some getting used to, but I love it.

It's tempting to get wild or drive a lot when you first get a new car. But if you can take it easy, your rates will go down after that first year. If there are no tickets, no accidents.
My insurance gave me a tiny rebate, because I drove even less than what I had estimated I would drive. So that may help you too.
It takes a bit of time to get used to the front end distance. And it's a good idea to get used to the car as a whole.
The worst thing that can happen is what I saw on a neighbor's car. They got a brand new car. And within the first couple weeks, smashed in the driver's door from taking the turn into their parking spot too tight.
Another neighbor scraped the front bumper. Parking garages can be very hard on cars. Those concrete pillars are not at all forgiving.
Picked up my 2010 Nighthawk Black Pearl Sport AT on 06/03 for 17,314.12 OTD at 5.2%
I really wanted a White MT but there were none in the state and only a few MT in other colors, none of those even local! So we told them if they could make the price right we would settle on the AT, I think we made out okay. Overall I am loving the car even with the AT, have a few mods planned and some accessories already in route
Full detail coming soon, I will post pictures after I get it in proper order this poor car is swirled like crazy from the dealer
How they even try to claim that they 'detail' cars is beyond me.

They should know better and care more. Well, now you know, so if you drop the car off for service, be sure to tell them not to do any 'complimentary' swirl jobs on it.
2010 Fit base
2010 Fit base in Blue Sensation Pearl with Auto Trans.
Purchased 6/29/10 at Hamilton Honda, Hamilton NJ
$15,538 + $249 doc fees (Showed Consumer Reports Bottom Line Price to the salesman and he agreed to the price!)
$9,500 down and remainder at 3.24% (I got a good interest rate from my Credit Union and Honda Credit matched it!)
Acessories about $650
Body Side Moulding
Cargo Cover
Rear Bumper Aplique
Floor Mats
FREE!
Lifetime Oil Changes @ 15% oil life 7 days a week.
Lifetime Car Wash at anytime 7 days a week.
Overall I think I did pretty well.
I am surprised to hear that some people have had trouble finding a fit. Hamilton Honda had both the base and sport in just about all colors. If they didn't have it, they could get it in a few days. I think they have almost eight Fits in all.
So far I have 300 miles, average 30 mpg in mixed driving and I love the car.
Suggestions:
1. Get the Consumer Reports New Car Report and show it to the salesmen. It changes the game entirely.
2. Don't tell them how much you want to spend for the car. They will always work up from there. Let them tell you what they want to sell the car for.
3. Go at the end of the month and the last two hours before closing. Especially if it's a Friday or Saturday. They'll be worn out from negotiating all day.
4. Everything is negotiable, interest rate, trade in, accessories. ( Although I think I got a little beat up with the Accessories)
4. Be willing to walk away. There are other Honda dealers.

Still new to me :)
I bought a 2010 Honda Fit, Storm Silver color, 5/4/10.
Bought at the Honda Hugh White dealer in Columbus, Ohio.
Base model with no accessories (although may get some later)
Got a great rate from Progressive Insurance ($333 for six months)
Word to those looking for an insurance deal. Progressive offers a service called "My Rate." They give you a gadget to can plug into an outlet below the steering column and it tracks sudden lane shifts, how quickly you take off from a stop, and the times you drive.
If you don't drive after midnight, for example, or don't put a lot of mileage on the car (the rate benefits those who drive between 1000-1200 miles per month), then your rate can be reduced by as much as 25% at the end of the six month testing period.
I may pen an ode to my new Fit. I love it that much!

2010 Fit Sport A/T, Taffeta White, 2010/05/29. Preferred a Sport M/T but there were none to be found in the entire county.
Bought from Fuller Honda in Chula Vista, CA at $17k flat + $2k in taxes and fees. All-season floor mats thrown in for free.
$2500 down. Financed by dealer at 60 months at 3.94% (which somehow beat everyone else I researched).
Insured by GEICO; appended to my parent's insurance plan, as their full coverage was cheaper than being insured solo. Yet me driving a new Fit is the most expensive part of the plan (even more so than me in a '84 Porsche!), because despite my good driving habits and lack of incidents, I'm still a 18-25 male.
Already installed floor mats and dashboard cover, and in the process of replacing stock bulbs with LEDs.
Eventually plan to replace the horn and install door visors, rear mud flaps, rear bumper applique, JDM cargo mat, footwell lights, JDM side mirrors, JDM hazard switch, JDM door sill trim, a locking gas cap, and DIY side molding.
Still waiting on my plates and registration card too. Hopefully I can get them before drill weekend so I can get a DoD decal and access cheap Navy gas while I'm still on the first tank.
Already scratched the bottom front bumper coming out of a driveway ><

Silver Sport, A/T, regular equipment otherwise. Got it 4 weeks ago, and paid a little under 18,000 for it. The only thing I have done to it is red flames pinstripes on the sides and hood. Don't see any reason to do anymore. Like it just the way it is, and much better than the 09 Base I traded in on it. Got 4.5% for 72 months.
On order
on Order is my my 2010 Fit Sport, Manual Transmission in Blue Sensation.
$16,500 for car including destination. + taxes & fee's
This is my 4th New Honda Purchase, my 3 previous cars were a '95 Civic, '02 Civic & my current '05 civic.. all Manual transmissions. This was the first time I've ever had a problem w/the dealer finding me a manual transmission. I have to wait about a month for it to arrive from the factory
The closest one they could find is in NC and they're not willing to work with a dealership that far away... so I anxiously wait.

Which dealer did you go to?
What was your OTD price?
Im from South FL and own a 2009 Fit. I have been trying to buy a second one, but all the local dealers are asking $19,400 for a 2010 Sport Manual Out the door.
I will travel to your dealer if they will actually "deal", and they might send you a few bucks for the reference.

At $18,200 OTD for a Sport manual, it would cost me about $19,100 or so for the Sport Automatic, which ends up being the same as I get quoted here.
Thank you so much for the detail though.
