555sexydrive Work In Progress
I have been chatting with TPcolgett and one iteration we were considering was an l15a7 running gk pistons and a delta 272 cam. That should really help spread the torque curve from 3-7k rpm but one issue we keep running into is finding an adjustable cam gear to move the lobe centerline so that the powerband doesn't shift higher up.
All Bisi parts have been axed. I'll have them in my possession shortly and will let them go quite cheap if anyone is interested. This has turned out to be the biggest waste of money ever from me, people would shit a full house if they knew the overall cost for what has turned out to be just a suspension rebuild, 6MT swap and p/p head with upped compression. I can only hope with the upped compression and p/p head that it brings a little more enjoyment when out on circuit. It has been such a nightmare really, that I don't even care about the car anymore. I'm hoping on my drive back from Osaka tomorrow, that it pleases me enough that I don't end up hating even more the choices I made with it. I'll see if I can get the dyno chart when I pick up the car, I'll just say it is not even close to what I was hoping for when I was excited at the prospects of using the Bisi parts. I don't believe J's did a dyno beforehand so nothing to really compare to. I know on an old roller dyno, it made 110 to the wheels and was corrected to be 131.7 at the engine.
All the wheels I have, not counting the 2 sets of 15", are 16x7 +42 or +43 to clear the calipers, well not true, my RE30s are 16x6.5+45 and need a spacer to clear.

Light Weight Fly Wheel
Chris,
I shipped this to you this morning. Your FW was shot peened to work harden it. Here are the pics, enjoy the FW and clutch:

Your clutch plate wasn't out of balance as bad as mine, so they were able to get away with drilling, in order to balance it.

NICE!!! Looking forward to it Doug.
All, De36 is good people indeed. Obviously that can be seen by the many DIYs he has put up on the forum. He took time out to lend me a hand getting these parts done and I know I've told him often, but it is VERY much appreciated.

Doug, it showed up just now. After work today I will ship it over to J's and then they can open the engine back up and fix the crank seal and get my car back out to where I love to beat on it, circuits.
Thank you again for your time in helping me acquire this. The #slowbeast's drivetrain also says thank you.
So finally got it back today from J's. Kaz drove it over from Osaka because their transporter was being used for a car or 2 of theirs in a Hot Version filming session in Gunma.
Anyways, the new lightened, balanced stock flywheel with SPEC clutch was installed while opened up. Looking forward to how it feels when pushed. Zero CEL, which is a known issue for lightened flywheels on the L15A7 due to harmonics causing the knock sensor to go into a freak out session. The balancing of the clutch and flywheel seem to be the way forward, though weight shaved was only about 1kg maybe, down to 5.6kg.
Stopped by a friend's afterwards and he snapped a few shots.

Like a slightly pissed off Fit. Has a really nice mid-range pull. Since power wasn't increased as much as I would have liked, it will need to go on a diet again. Lexan windows for the rear doors and hatch might be a future modification.
Just read through all 36 pages of this thread, and all I can say is wow! An inspiration to say the very least. By far my favorite progress thread. Keep up the amazing work 555!
Went on a drive up to Nikko with my friend on the 3rd, it ended up being about 500km with some fun touge action on several different roads even though it was quite wet for a good portion of the drive and some really dense fog that put a damper on some of the winding stuff. A few images...

Love keeping up with your threads (from Honda-tech to clubrsx to here). I love coming here to see everything you've done to your GE. Everything is always such a great read.
Do you have any plans in the future to pick up an additional or a different Honda model? Maybe and N-One or the new Beat?
Also for a commuter (and she says fun backroad tosser) , my wife is thinking about a 130G Toyota IQ aka Scion IQ. I'm currently trying to get her to lean to a GD or GE with an auto, but I'm open to the IQ idea if it's a worthwhile high mpg fun secondary car for us. Just curious of your opinion.

Never have even sat in the IQ, not sure how fun it may or may not be tossing on back roads. At least the Fit you know doesn't mind being driven hard, just doesn't get you anywhere too quickly.
As far as picking up another Honda, hard to say really. Guess that depends on the company making something that I wouldn't mind owning. The new S660 is cool, but would put me back into the same position with the S2000 that was before the Fit, no room for spare wheels, floor jack and whatever else to take to the track. With the Fit, I can bring 2 sets of spare wheels, floor jack, folding chairs, tools, a kitchen sink and some traveling clowns.
Honestly, the next vehicle will be replacing the RB1 Absolute and the K24 in it (already has the 5R head stock) will be removed and then destroked to a 2.2liter using the crank from a H or F and massaged into the bay of the Fit and then I can go attack some Exiges. Well those are my hopes anyway. As far as looks are concerned, the GE short nose just looks so damn good to my eyes and I really prefer it to all my past Hondas and it just needs some real power and I much prefer natural aspiration over forced injection and with the L not getting much more in NA form, an engine swap is the only way forward. Now if I really had a wallet with no end to it, I would take that K22 and put it mid-ship and have it power the rear wheels. That would be a blast, but it would end up being like a S2000 or S660 when it comes to bringing items to circuit.
Thanks for following along over the years.

The CTR, not released as of yet that I have seen and when it is, it was rumored to sell for like at least ¥4.5 million or about $37500. I'm not really interested in it, would much rather take the K24 out of my Odyssey, destroke it to a 2.2 with the H or F crank and push a very reliable all Honda internal 250~270ps NA in my less than 1000kg slowbeast that would no longer be considered a slowbeast by myself. haha
cajlog, thank you and honestly I'm not one for taking photos all that often really and when I do, it is just with my phone. It's more like I store the imagery inside my head. Though if/when I do take some, I'll post them up.
