Sweet deal.
There are a few maintenance procedures that I recognize would be done best by Honda, but I would certainly set some ground rules with the Honda Service Manager BEFORE I would turn over my car to their service department. You have to be careful about what you are signing when leaving your car for service---and I plan on asking about that over the phone before even making an appointment.
1) I terribly overpaid for things that I later found that I could easily do for a fraction and little time commitment such as cabin air filter and engine air filter.
2) I paid way too much for things that are a waste of money. Got talked into "fuel injector cleaning" which cost a good bit more than I later found it should have, and it wasn't even needed as the car was running fine and I had never used anything other than Top Tier fuel.
3) Never figured what was going on with my brakes - one time they indicated that I needed pads, so I did it, then just a couple or few visits later they claimed my pads were worn and that I might want to go ahead and have them replaced... I said, "No, this seems rather early for that and we'll talk more about it next time" -- and next visit, the service report showed only modest wear and nothing like what was indicated the last time.
4) Dude wanted to replace my tires somewhat earlier than needed, and offered a "today only" "bargain" if I would go ahead and let him. My own visual inspection left me thinking they had a bit of life yet, and the tire store next door thought so too when I drove right over after the service visit was over.
4) Bunches of other things that later didn't seem right or necessary
5) And everything was more expensive than I would have thought -- perhaps typical for a dealership but still expensive.
In the end, while the prices were high for the work and parts, I'm more upset over the unnecessary work.
It took me a while to start catching on and either going elsewhere or engaging them only for very specific things and nothing more. Of course, the service manager / associate was always such a nice fellow and seemed so honest. Don't trust that.
I guess it was the brakes thing that got me to looking back at all of those invoices and noticing a lot of things that were questionable. Shamefully (I'm quite embarrassed about this), I just didn't look very closely and trusted too much that they were doing only what needed to be done. I really felt like a gullible and inattentive fool, and I'm hoping I've learned from it and won't repeat my costly mistakes.
Good for you for refusing to cave on the stupid overpriced add-ons. I really wish more people would do that, and maybe dealers would get the clue and stop pre-bundling accessories and the "protection" packages. They know well enough that if it isn't already on the car and they try selling up on accessories, few are going to take the accessories when told, "We recommend floor mats for $200, and wheel locks for $400, and..."
But if on the car, most will just take it.

) because in the 2 months they'd been selling them, not a single person had asked for such an outrageous thing, especially for a car in such high demand. I was livid when they told me that, to the point that my hands actually started shaking. Lol. I think that's my one big takeaway from this whole thing. Do not buy the proctology package!!
I'm sure that spaghtina really feels like going to that dealer for service after the way they tried to hose her down at the sale. (Not!)
I am hoping to find a local independent mechanic to take care of much of the maintenance I am unable to perform (under-car work is totally out of the question for me due to health problems.) Spaghetina: Please enjoy your new car. Think more about how well the car was engineered and designed, how carefully it was built---and completely blot out the memory of the few days that car was in the hands of a complete reptile. Just imagine how happy that car is to be in your hands now.

Morgan, do you have some advice about which procedures are better done by Honda? I've generally always taken my car back to the dealership to have work done because I figured they were at least moderately trustworthy. I don't know why I thought that because nothing else about dealerships are such, and I've heard/read that they make most of their money from service.
And thanks, guys! I will definitely enjoy the car! I already had a good 'ol time testing out the bluetooth phone integration last night, since I'm coming from a long line of cars lacking any kind of proverbial bells and/or whistles. I'm interested/nervous to see if any of the weird quirks/bugs that are showing up in other cars are going to show up in mine, but I hope they don't.

Bugs/quirks? I'm running Android, and while Bluetooth works well with it, I have found that voice dialing through the car is pretty finicky. I haven't done well at getting it to consistently figure out who I'm wanting to dial and which number (some want me to say "preferred" and others "cell" or "home"). I resort to just pressing the mic on my search button and voice dialing through the phone itself ("Call John Doe on Mobile").
During this period I tend to watch how they go about the work and notice the attitude of how they work. But mostly, I am keeping my eyes open for the type of work they do on other people's cars. Do they work on a lot of new cars? I would certainly ask if they maintain a number of Hondas. Do they perform more advanced service procedures?
I go to a shop where the "waiting room" consists of a line of chairs that is right at the head of the three vehicles that they are working on---just a few feet away! There is NO sign which reads, "Customers are not permitted in the service area..." The owner of the shop is working. You can listen to the banter between him and the other mechanics. There is usually an apprentice being brought along. Everything is ship shape. The entire shop shuts down for lunch at the same time, and any customers present are always asked if they would like some pizza or whatever and join with them in the meal. These are people who enjoy working together.
--------------
No..... I won't share with you the name of my shop. I actually like that it is still not difficult to schedule an appointment. I sense that they are auditioning customers --- trying YOU out as a customer. Shops like this have no trouble keeping busy --- and they prefer customers who are polite, appreciative, and don't get in the way---but I've always been asked to come over and have a close up look at something they've turned up. I KNOW I am paying way less for service than I would at ANY new car dealer----and I never question a bill. They always will offer an estimate up front. You never leave there wondering, "What did they do?"
So I finally got the last refund to my principal. Credit Life, Accident & Health, and Extended Warranty. About 4200 in refund.
The dealer didn't even process my application initially. a month later I called asking for the status, said they didn't even have it.
So they were trying to pull another one on me... but I harassed them so much they finally got it all processed.
Obviously I'm still upset, but happy that I have 4200 refunded to the principal so now I'm not spending 30,000 on a car worth much less.

Thabks
1. EX, CVT, White. No accessories
2. Findlay Honda in Henderson, NV
3. MSRP. $19,025
4. $18,900 + taxes and fees. Second car purchase with no trade. They gave 3 free oil changes which can be used on my Pilot or Fit

Sadly, you may have gotten the principal returned; however, I don't think the total financed amount will be reduced, so unless you dispense with the loan with absolute haste, you're still taking a beating unless your loan rate is literally 0.0%.
Live and learn. Next time you'll know how ruthless these people can be and you won't get screwed next time.

Bought mine today
EX-L White
MSRP: $20,590
got $250 off MSRP ($20,340) through COSTCO program.
Dealer tried to sneak in a $198 film protection whatever. Had them remove it.
OTP price $$22,321. I'm in CA with 8% sales tax. No accessories, no nothing, just the car and no extended warranty (I cut them short on the sales pitch).
Was in and out of the dealer in 1hr., though I will get the car in 2 weeks (in-coming car). Took advantage of their .9% financing deal for 36 months.

Paid MSRP, but here's a Costco data point for you
1. EX, CVT, Aegean Blue. No Accessories on the financed deal.
2. Mountain View, CA (San Francisco Bay Area)
3. MSRP $19,025
4. MSRP (no trade in)
I felt fortunate to even get this Fit because they are so difficult to find in the SF Bay Area! I really wanted Aegean Blue. I got it 2 weeks after I put a deposit down; it was actually another person's "hold" but they ended up getting a Fit in a different color somewhere else. Supposedly, mine would have arrived a couple days later, but who knows with the way Honda's delivery service from Celaya, Mexico was faring?
I did their financing deal (0.99% for 0-36 months), which Honda still has going until Nov 3, 2014. This was better than my credit union, which could only offer 1.99%.
I added on splash guards outside of the financing deal. I turned down all the other deals like extended warranties for 5 more years at $2056 (they did have a discount of 20% applied b/c I was a AAA member) and a Simonized coating.
I also talked to the sales person at the authorized Costco dealership, but they didn't have any blue ones in the pipeline. They had 1 Fit (silver) on the lot when I visited them, but told me that it would be very difficult to "trade" with another dealership in the Costco authorized system because of the lack of inventory. When I called them back a couple days later, they had none in stock! So even though the Costco price was below MSRP, it wouldn't have helped without a vehicle!
For another data point on a 2015 Fit EX-CVT via Costco:
MSRP: $19025.00
Costco savings <589.19>
Subtotal: $18435.81
But then they had dealer installed accessories which they don't take off:
(Splashguards and Wheel locks) $250.00
So the price was $18685.81, or a $339.19 off the MSRP (before tax and license, etc).
Add the dealer fee of $80.00 and it's only $259.19 off the MSRP.
So for $259 off the MSRP with no available car from Costco, it wasn't worth it for me to wait for my Aegean Blue Fit to come in. Note: They won't quote anything over the phone. You have to go down in person. But even if you go down in person, they can't give you a hard copy quote if they don't have a Fit physically in stock, because they need the VIN #. Maybe it's different at other Costco dealers, but that was my experience.
I'm really glad I got my Fit and can finally join the ranks of proud new Fit owners! This forum has been great for passing along advice, providing encouragement, and giving data points! Thanks!

This post helped me so much. Thanks, y'all!
