They are in, just not INSTALLED yet.

Nice!

That may be a different clutch than we have. Ours is an OEM replacement that came in a white box with blue writing. You might be good to go with that one!

So the flywheel i got was wrong in the box, its for an s2000 and had the following code engraved on it: H9.6357. Turns out this good deal is not so good anymore.

I recall another member running into the same problem. Seems to be a lot of mislabeled Fidanza boxes or something.

Got some rear doors at a U-Pick. Need to replace the window regulator in one of my doors....plus I'm going to gut these for race doors.


Spare rear doors....for gutting!

So each rear door is about 43 lbs, including the interior plastic, speaker, glass etc.
The glass weighs 5 lbs. Similar sized lexan would be about 2.5 lbs.

So far I have removed about 20 lbs from the door, including the glass and latch, a lot of metal and 1 of 2 crash bars. So some more to remove (last crash bar, excess metal) but also need to reinstall the latch and lexan. May have the door handles shaved too...we'll see!

Gutted door so far...

So far I've got the rear door down to 17.8 lbs, but still need to add Lexan. I need to test fit this on the car and make sure everything is OK and then perhaps I can trim some more metal here and there. I think I will have the door handles shaved for a cleaner look. Some extra bits can also be removed from the latch itself. So far I am pleased with the results! 43 - 17.8 = 25.2 lbs loss. So if I am lucky I might be able to lose 50 lbs in total from gutting the rear doors...pumped!

I can't wait to see that thing on a scale someday! Have to get a good picture of it on a scale next time at the track with it stripped.

Both doors now gutting, same sanding and trimming left to do on the 2nd door but so far it's down to 17.6 lbs. So that makes a 52 lbs weight loss before the Lexan is added. Ordered two 1/8" thick Lexan sheets in 2ftx4ft size from www.aircraftspruce.ca for $130 shipped and taxes included...cheaper and thicker than the stiff at Home Depot, at least here in Canada. Now to look into those door handles getting shaved off.



Both doors gutted

So I think my 4 year old ultragauge is dying...when inunplug it from the obd2 port, it will shut the engine off? Checked for loose battery ground but that did not fix then problem. Which isnfine since i was looking for a reason to upgrade! I ordered the new Ultragauge EM plus that has additional performance features and wideband support. 😁

so my electrical problem seems to be a missing ground for the spark plugs. Should be an easy fix if it wasn't so damn cold, lol. Bought some new wire to upgrade existing grounds at the same time.

interesting and inspiring project, just finished reading through the log for the first time. It looks like you're focused mainly on drag events, i'm curious how your build does on track days, as a newb fit owner it strikes me as the event that these cars would really shine in. either way: excellent progress, i really like the fuzzy seat covers

Thanks for the kinds words. Yes these are born autoX cars but I've always been a bigger fan of finding ways to make power and reduce weight on an unsuspecting chassis at the drag track. That's why I sold my ultra racing bars, it's not going to help straight line acceleration. 😉 and I love the seat covers too, hahaha...gives the car a bit of humor!

So I've got worked booked off for 1/4 mile runs on May 26th at Greenfield, dragway here in NS. Will be my only race for the year but I will be going back to Japan at the end of June.

to do:
Clutch/flywheel install and break in
replace wideband o2 sensor
purchase and install Lexan for spare rear doors
purchase nitrous jets to lean out my too rich AFRs

if money is good:
buy lighter wheels and better tires
hondata and tune!

Turns out a loose ground was causing the issue, on the drivers side of the block. Now i can unplug the Ultragauge without it turning the engine off, lol.

MVI done on Monday, had to get new rear drums and shoes and front sway bar end links and 1 new tire. All work is done but that definitely puts a dent in my race funds haha. HOWEVER, Passed even tho I have no cat, pleased about that!
