I agree with everyone, and this is a great car but no car is perfect and it's interesting to hear what everyone thinks could be improved or different.
Here's what I have..
-Driver's seat sits too high, people 6'2 and up who love hatches have always had a little trouble though lol
-Basics like the carpet and cargo cover need to be purchased
-Drums in back, I've owned four 1991-93 cars all with discs, however the drums work well enough +no brake dust in back :-J
-Don't care for the way shifts feel with the big, light shift knob. Looks cool and feels okay in my hand but a Skunk2 knob gives me way more feedback
-Stock taillights remind me of Toyota Matrix lights but thats just personal opinion
-**Dealer's fault** That damn dealership sticker that they put on the back (I forgot to tell them no)
-The front doors aren't made for interaction while driving (resting your arm on) unless your really short and lean to the left a bit..

4. Bigger wheel well so putting a 17" or 18's would do fine without rubbing just in case a person want to put these sizes of wheels(I don't mind my stock wheels and tires, I'm actually happy with it).
5. Alarm with shock sensor.
6. Factory floor mats should have been included.
7. Cargo cover should have been included.
8. Armrest should be standard for the Sport Models.
9. Should have 6th gear or taller gearing for better fuel economy.
10. Sunroof should have been a factory option.
11. Seats of the GD3's or even the GE8's from front seats to back seats to be laid flat just like the element seats.
12. A Hybrid Fit?
13. Factory Sunroof as factory option.

All of these while keeping the same price range.
ummmmmmmmmmm

I just stuck 3 washers under the front rails, raising them a bit. I think I can feel the improvement.

Not sure I would go any more.
The seat front is noticeably higher than the passenger.

Will try to get a pic.

most if not all of these gripes would be solved with a more expensive car

5. No map lights for base(adding them this weekend)
6. No cruise option for base
7. Keyless entry standard(quick fix though, thanks to fitfreak)
8. Roof spoiler too aggressive for me, would've liked 1 a little bit less aggressive like the Yaris'.
With all that said I love my Fit and have come up with solutions to most of the items listed.
half of your dislikes are cured by purchasing a fit sport. its a decision you made by choice to get a base so its not really a dislike, you shouldve gotten a sport.

things i dont like about mine is
-sport models should get audio ctrl regardless of nav no nav.
-the stock drivers armrest sucks(cured with oem console armrest)
-lack of seat height adjustment
-no coin holder(cured by coin holder from squalking)
-noticeable loud wind noise at freeway speeds
-only one trip meter
-no outside temp/water temp
-cheap paint chips like crazy
-thin sheet metal for all body panels(dents so easily)
-cheap windshield chips like cheap paint

with all these hates and negative annoyances i still LOVE my fit. things i can mod are slowly being addressed and everything else i would prefer fixed, but i can live with its quirks because i love it.

its like a wife, you have the urge to choke her from time to time but you love her so you live with her quirks.

I don't like the sport thats why i didn't buy the sport, sure buying the sport would have taken some things off my list, but my sport list would've been alot longer than the my base list. With that said I love my Fit.

I know it's not the same bolt pattern. But the fit LX rims look the exact same as the hybrid wheels. I like the look, it looks like a 80's spaceship. They fit the fit better because of the sharp edges of the car, while the civic is more roundish.

Yea the Fit shouldn't have problems fitting anyone, I was just talking about my old hatch (93 civic) which wasn't too bad up front but taller people had trouble sitting up straight in the back. Damn 6'10 thats tall and he still has no problems riding in the car, I give Honda 2 thumbs up!!

I can't beleive he has no problem with more than 2 meters, I'm 6.2 and I think that the fit has a terrible lack of front leg room (plus the overall seat and position that aren't great). the biggest issue with the lack of 6th gear.
Older civic always had more leg room than the fit and a better position imo, even if it's smaller in the back (except for the super cool wagovan which I have).

Damn I wish the LX trim was available here in the states, that would have been the ideal model for me. Oh well maybe next time.

Yea I like how you sit lower in the cockpit in my Eh3 civic, The Fit was made to incorporate many different body types of people I feel, but more chair position controls would be great, at the same time though the Fit isn't a luxury car so those options may be out of element. I would like it if the driver's seat sat a bit lower than it does but theres not much I could ever do about driver leg room, the dash seems to extend enough so you'd think you could put the pedals a little further back but remember the firewall is right there and the engine is tucked in there. A wagovan awesome man! Hold on to that thing

I love to read this thread every so often.... It helps me realize how lucky I was to have gotten a first generation Fit.... Actually I doubt that from my perspective there is all that many things about the second generation cars that I personally would find all that bad and I have owned and driven many different kinds of cars, trucks and motorcycles that I can compare to.

It's not a luxury car no, but it's not the cheapest either. The yaris sedan en higher trims versa has the height adjustment, and jdm/edm fit also I think.
And for more leg room without more actual room, they would have to allow the "front" of the seat to be higher and the "back" lower, more inclinaison. The hips would be supported better.

Also the fit is almost 8 inches longer than the jdm fit, instead of putting everything in the front/bumper they could have tried to allow a bit more room.
