Add brakes, a drive belt, and one fuel pump to the list and that's how our's has been. More valve adjustments, but that's just because I can do them pretty quickly now.

 

2008 Fit Sport auto, currently at 247,800 miles. Overall it has been a great car. Oil changes have been Mobil1 since the 1st change and the auto trans fluid is always the Honda brand. Fluids are changed when the computer tells me to. I try to adjust the valves every year. I've replaced the wear items as needed- spark plugs, belts, brake pads, tires, and shocks. We've been rear ended 3 times so far which were thankfully all minor. Windshield was replaced after seeing too many gravel trucks.


As far as major-ish things that I have replaced:
Vtec oil switch went bad
Two of the ignition coils- common thing to go bad
The AC started leaking inside so I replaced the Evaporator and Expansion valve
The AC condenser fan flat out died- replaced it
The radiator- SUPER BRITTLE plastic broke removing the upper hose to get to the AC fan
Two wheel lugs after breaking\ cross threading (thanks Discount Tire)
Transmission mount was dead- these are apparently a common issue
I'll need a new Catalytic Converter since I've had a p0420 code for the past month.

 

Check O2 sensors before replacing the catalytic converter. They degrade over time so it might be them and not the cat.

 

2007 Sport manual trans. Bought it new for a single payment with 000041 miles on 25, April 2007. Now has 269k and still on the orig clutch and exhaust. Every service receipt and every gas receipt documented since new. Oil gets changed every 6K with Castrol Edge Syntec. I change it at 6k so I can rotate my tires while the jack is out, and never ever miss this interval. The alt went out at 173,208, wheel bearings at 208,708, coil pack at 252,145. The A/C compressor has been dead for 5 summers. It has the typical rear hatch handle issue but I can currently open it.

Lesser stuff:
--Driving on battery #4 (installed in Jan)
--4 sets of Dunlops plus 2 sets of Blizzaks, due for new Dunlops when I switch back to 3 season rims.
--Orig spark plugs replaced at 208,708
--Brakes replaced twice. (I downshift).
--multiple documented air filters, wiper blades, cabin air, head lights, etc

I have always driven the car hard, or at least at "I stole it" speeds. Several of the plastic body/trim items have literally blown off. I had to cut one front wheel well off with my pocket knife on a trip to FL a few years ago when it let go and was (LOUDLY) rubbing the tire. Driven hard, but I check the oil and all fluids at every single gas stop and have hand documented every detail since the car was new. So far so good, but I suspect a clutch job is on the horizon. This last paragraph of my first post probably makes enthusiast forum members cringe, but I may as well be honest haha.

 

I wonder why you are using so many batteries. I get over 6 yrs out of mine. Currently using one that came new on May built 2012 Fit which i bought in October of that year.

You went long without changing the spark plugs... any particular reason for that?
Have you ever done valve clearance checks or adjustments?

How are your cv axle boots? Any water pump issue?
How often were you changing the coolant. Have you replaced the hoses and the thermostat?

 

36 months 88k on the orig battery
30 months 79k on new Honda battery from dealer
62 months 101k on Autozone Duralast
Replaced with another Duralast in Jan.
I was a commuter for years and worked night shift. Returning home from darkness to day, I forgot to turn the headlights off a couple of times per week and was constantly having to roll, jump, or charge. I'm certain this contributed to the short battery lives. Working at home the past few years the miles driven has dropped dramatically.


I never had cause to renew the plugs. When I got over 200k I did so "just because." I've never once fiddled with the valves. They have never been even a tiny bit noisy so I followed the rec by Honda.

All of these items are the original from new, except the coolant has been renewed twice with coolant from the dealer. Maybe I'm lucky. Perhaps ignorance is bliss. Now that I joined the forum I won't be able to claim ignorance for much longer.

 

Just so you know...the exhaust valves tighten over time. Tight valves don't make any sound. Maintenance Minder calls for valve inspection on service number 4. Inspection means actual removal of valve cover and checking with a feeler gauge for clearance. I believe #4 happens every 60k or so.

That being said, you've had a good run. Could just roll the dice and keep it rolling.

The car is driving fine, but the p0172 was on. It burn a lot of gas. Replaced fuel injector, problem solved.

I'm at 97,000 and some change on my 07 Sport A/T, and just doing the front brakes for the first time (I downshift), I'll change brake fluid at the same time. Plugs were replaced recently; gap had gone from 0.044 to 0.052, but otherwise still running fine. At about 35,000 miles, I had to replace one of the shift pressure switches on the transmission, but that's about it. A new set of tires is also on the way from Tire Rack.

Interesting! At 200,000 I had to use an impact to remove my drain plug, so I replaced the plug. The hex head was getting deformed from use. Lots of oil changes in 200,000 miles!

 

My Silver 2007 Fit Sport Manual just turned 400K. Been running great and still getting 33 to 35 MPG on mostly highway driving at 77 mph. Just need to get my AC fixed again (3rd time). Other than that very inexpensive to drive and maintain.

 

Just wanted to ask if you have had your valves adjusted? What has your problems been with the Air conditioner? I'm installing my 4th blower fan tomorrow!

 

Valves adjusted only 1 time, at 237k. Factory A/C Condenser gave up at 239k. 1st Aftermarket Condenser lasted 6 months. 2nd Aftermarket Condenser lasted 3 years.

 

good to know. my 08 AT Sport is knocking the door on 260,000 - was hoping to get over 300k sounds possible!
replaced stabilizer links at 70K, one trany solenoid at 103K on coil pack around 180k, then all 4 at 235K.
battery after 8 years.
Have some N Illinois rust now and the rear hatch latch doesn't always unlock. otherwise running strong. I commute 48 miles one way mostly 70 MPH posted freeway/toll-road. I stay in the 'slow' lane at 72 and average 32 mpg.
