So the latest was a cracked exhaust manifold. I went the Honda OE route and ended costing me $750. Would be cheaper if I had order an aftermarket header off ebay for $200.

I got my coil packs from Amazon. You just have to keep an eye out for specials. Mine were Original Honda items and ordered from the .com (not .ca) and still way cheaper than dealer price after shipping.

I was towing my motorcycles back to storage last week and the spare wheel area finally rusted thru (where the hitch is attached to the tow hook), lucky I made it to the storage and not damage the hitch or the trailer or the motorcycle. I am smelling a bit of GAS smell inside the car, so I think its time to move on, either to a cleaner (less rust) 1st generation Fit or a newer model (2010-2012).

I have only 45,000 miles on my 2007 model Fit that I purchased mid summer of 2006.. I have had it apart more often than not doing performance modifications to it.. Old age has caught up with me and I'm not able to do much nowadays. Right now I need to install new Innovative engine mounts, and Clutch Masters clutch and flywheel assembly and a few more other things to make it right.

are the items you are replacing because due to wear and tear or are you upgrading the car? Would all those parts make shifting faster or something that's good for everyday stop and go? How much for all the parts ?

My experience

2010 Fit Sport Manual bought new from dealer 01/2011. 112,000 miles.

37,000 miles: Developed a rattle only when up shifting early at low rpm until in power curve. Never could find what it was and it still persists 75k miles later. Checked all heat shields but nothing.

45,000 miles: light on A/C button went out. (The tiny light that makes the letters on the "A/C" on/off button glow)

82,000 miles: A/C compressor suddenly died. A/C had been perfect before too. Refrigerant was spec level and full. Unknown cause. Did repair right myself and Replaced compressor (aftermarket brand), condenser, evaporator, valve, etc. Cost around $600? in parts and another couple hundred in vacuum pump and gauges and other tools.

All other maintenance was easier headlight/signal/cabin interior bulbs, spark plugs, air filters, wipers, serpentine belt, oil changes, brakes pads and rotors, fluid changes etc. per manual spec.

The A/C compressor failing at only 82,000 miles was a major bummer and unacceptable to me, but over all and with all things considered, I love this car and have not had any other issues. It is currently mechanically perfect so can't complain.

The same light went out on mine 2012 Sport around 30K miles. I don't know what caused it but I haven't bothered to try to figure out if it's worth fixing yet. I pretty much know the location of the A/C button LOL.

Uh...they don't contain propane...and you don't have to be professionally licensed...

lol I hear you there. I went quite some time before I replaced a lot of other extra bulbs and decided to tackle it. If you have the plastic trim tools handy (which I definitely needed and you can get dirt cheap from harbor freight) only took me about 1.5 hours to slowly work my way through the Helm manual (I know I cheat but it makes it SO easy) to replace the 6$ Tiny bulb I got from Honda parts now.

Interesting. How much did the tools cost, out of curiosity?

9 doll hairs. This is the one I used. Only needed a couple of tools but chewed up the plastic trying to use a flathead first. Then these did the trick. I think they are mirror image of what the official Honda tool set it. http://m.harborfreight.com/5-piece-auto-trim-and-molding-tool-set-67021.html?utm_referrer=direct%2Fnot%20provided

Well oddly, the light has come back on all by itself, after almost 15K more miles. I can find the AC in the dark again!

I have a 2007 automatic Fit bought new in February 2007. Basic maintenance only except new coils at about 230K, and a new catalytic converter at about 290K. I'm at about 303,500. Love my Fit...

Is this actual? 493,000 miles? Have you had an engine overhaul? Any major problems or replaced items? Is it a 5 speed manual transmission?
This is amazing. You should inform Honda of North America. They may want to use you and your Fit for advertising?

I'm quite sure this is miles, not kilometres. The poster is in the US.

rockauto gives quotes in Canadian and ships to Canada very very cheaply with no duties or customs. I got my four coils from them, the OEM hitachis, for $192. Rockauto even with the shipping and *currency exchange* is consistently far cheaper than anything in Canada.

At 190,000 miles. Just bought the wife a new car, so the miles on her Fit will slow down now. Couldn't let it go cause we love it too much. Probably time for round two of mods. First round was roughly 189,000 miles ago.

Are folks having to replace struts/shocks? Are many of these high mileage Fits still on original struts and shocks?
