Finally decided to order up some new parts.

New struts/shocks cause I'm fairly certain all the clunking I'm getting is from a blown strut. That, or it's a bushing. The struts and shocks are pretty much due for replacement anyway. I decided to try out the KONI STR.T set... supposed to be better than the KYB set, right? RIGHT?!? God, I hate KYB, why did I think it being for the Fit would be better than the previous cars I drove... =.="

New tires... cause my current set is pretty much down to the wear bars. Sure, I could probably last the summer, but despite the "W" still showing on the Continental DWS 06, I slip more than I'd like on wet roads. Snow is definitely out of the question, the "S" was GONE before it stopped snowing here and I felt it. I wish they still had the non-06. Those seemed better.

New wheels... PF01 in 17" cause my lame ass bought a BBK that didn't fit the 16" RPF and couldn't return them and it's been sitting in my garage for almost a year now (well, more like 10 months).

Well. I ordered the wheels now because the tires are close enough to be replaced. So, I'm doing it as a full combo, wheel plus TPMS and tires mounted\balanced\etc. I'm also assuming that once I get the new TPMS programmed in (dealer), the stupid TPMS error I have, should go away.

The wheels & tire combo should arrive by the weekend. The struts/shocks will take another month since TR is back ordered on the rear shocks. Oh well.

Highway stability

Just picking peoples brains 🧠
We drive to Florida in my wife’s ‘16 Mazda 3
and it’s super stable/planted on the highway
The Fit is a totally different car and I’m curious how other more knowledgeable car guys describe how the Fit drives on the highway
i find it feels like a squirrel loaded up on caffeine lol

I think it has something to do with the body shape and weight class. Compare Mazda Demio/2 to Fit, Civic to 3, and 6 to Accord, then we'll see they drive almost the same.
I live and drive in Japan where speeds maxes out at 100kph and my fit feels good enough for me. I tried running up to 170kph and still feels planted. I have mine lowered and has spoilers all over except the rear wing.
I also have lots of vortex generator and wind deflector in front so it may be helping me grip the road.

What's wrong with KYB? Aren't they OEM on Subaru's?

The 3, being a bigger, heavier car should perform better than the Fit on the highway. The Fit is ... noisy,... road + wind noise. OE suspension is too soft, I think, so it tends to rock side to side meeting crosswinds.

I used to run 195 section tires on mine, night and day difference in stability at highway speeds.

How does it affect acceleration? I have the stock steel rims 175/65/r15 and I really am looking for at least a 205 tire on a 16''.

Can you please elaborate on these tires
who makes them etc?
does 205 mean wider??
i assume they’re really grippy??
i have OEM tires and would love to invest in something like that in the future
i guess stiffer suspension and nice tires is my goal

So take the stock Fit's tire size, 185/55/R16. 185 is the tread width, 55 is the aspect ratio, meaning the sidewall is 55% the height of the tread width and R16 means the wheel size the tire is meant to be mounted to. Saying 195 or 205 means running a tire that's 195mm or 205mm wide. Picking a different tire size than stock will throw of your speedometer. So for instance if you went 195/50/R16 your speedo will read about a mile an hour faster than actual speed at highway speeds. 205/50/R16 is about as close as you can get and maintain a somewhat accurate speedo.

In case you're curious, go here.

To answer previous posts:

205/50/R16 Toyo Proxes 4 Plus on stock Sport wheels. The stock tires are crap, really crap. They are super bouncy, have bad handling and close to no grip.
The Toyos are better in every way.
As for acceleration, and since the wheels are the same in my case, the added weight is not really noticeable. Might different is you go from a 14" steel wheel to a 16" mag wheel. But since the Fit has from the start almost none acceleration, loosing a little bit for more handling, grip, and comfort isn't all that bad.

Why did I replaced the stock tires: I had a flat in the first year and I had to replace the tire. These tires were super pricey (all car parts here in Quebec are super pricey!), at almost 300$ for one tire, installed. Then, the year later, I had another tire that seamed to be sliced on the side, too dangerous to drive with it. Would have had to replace another one... For the price, I decided to replace the 4 of them and be done with it. I would never go back to the stock tires...

Hope this helps!

Side note: the 205 tires are a little wider then the wheels. IMO, it does not look ugly that way, but a little different from stock. Good thing, it protects the wheels when you park too close to a curb!

Debating whether to install now or wait until I get the rear shocks (front arrived with wheels)... wait for springs... or wait to mount the BBK.

edit: from TireRack, it came with lug nuts and a "lug installation tool." After thinking about it, I could only think it was a socket... but, why would I need a socket? It didn't come with my RPFs when I bought them oh-so-long ago. Well, it turns out, the provided lug nuts are "tuner style" or rather, spline nuts. Makes more sense now. Of course, it also makes my Amazon purchase of spine nuts a bit redundant... at least they're different color (chrome from TR, black from Amazon).

New tires

Hi all
any opinions on the tires
205/50/16 Michel Pilot Sport 4S
Thought I’d take everyone’s advice on
205 tires and see what all the fuss is about
I’ve read a few times here that the OEM Dunlops are pretty bad and I like to do some fast cornering (sometimes)
Am I making a good choice???

Toyos might be less expensive.

Don't know these Michelins in particular. But in the past, I have had Michelins on an Accord and hated them so much! They did last a long time, but they had no grip at all!

Up to now, never been disappointed with Toyo tires.
