Only use this oil for about 2000km and change. Since it is a racing fluid. Yes that is much wasted money, but that is the whole point of money isn't it? To spend, if not it never would have been created. hahaha

 

How about in the heavy traffic? Or u don't daily drive your car?

 

Daily drive yes, with the cooler outside temps I normally see it get up to about 85~90.

Watched it live at the hospital with my dad on Al Jazeera's live feed late last night. Truly horrifying.

There seems to be a lot of natural disaster stuff happening lately.. The noon news had video from Japan that was horrifying to me... Now in addition to horrifying acts on man by mankind nature is getting it's licks in as well... I hope it isn't as bad as it looks like it is over there.

I haven't been on much, neither have you, apparently. When I saw the news this morning, I thought of you immediately. I hope you and your wife are fine, and you escaped all of the turmoil going on over there. Frightening stuff on the news, for sure.

All of these people nitpicking about environmental, governmental, blah, blah, blah, issues... and all it takes is a few seconds of a fairly strong earthquake, tornado, volcano, sunami, etc., and somehow all of that senseless, human-created crap mankind piles on itself -- for various and assorted selfish reasons -- just seems so d@mn3d petty in comparison.

Be safe, and stay that way, 555sd. And PLEASE, let us know you're alright... ASAP!

For never meeting any of you in person, it is truly gratifying to know that I was in your thoughts. Thank you very much. I'm doing alright, no damage on my end to report, it was a bit frightening to go through and I was 400km away from the epicenter, but even at that distance the recorded seismic activity was about a 5.2. That pales in comparison to the 8.9, but it was enough for this South Florida native. Seriously, the length of the thing was what really made it scary, after the first 2 minutes, I was already holding onto my 55" tv for support, it just kept getting stronger and stronger and the 2nd floor (living, dining and kitchen) just was buckling pretty good and sounded as if it wanted to go down. At that point, put the tv on the floor, surrounded it with the sofa pillows and got downstairs and outside. It lasted for easily 4 minutes and then just 30 minutes later, well about 25~26 another 7.2 hit which was about 275km northeast of me. That one also rocked the area decently. Since that time as expected, numerous aftershocks have been felt, ranging from 4~6.5 on the Richter scale. A 6.2 just hit this morning at about 10am and was felt down here, nothing like Friday, but still felt.

Now comes the time where we will go into rolling blackouts, from what I have found out, my area will be without power twice a day from 9:20am~12:50pm and again from 6:50pm~10:20pm everyday till the end of April. The plan is to divert electricity up to the Sendai area. Gas stations are already out of gas, I filled up Friday before I went home and experienced this thing, but not sure when I might be able to fill again, so definitely won't be driving anywhere leisurely for awhile. It's going to be a trying next 6 weeks for sure in all of Japan and even longer for those individuals in Miyagi Prefecture. I still haven't heard from a friend that lives in Sendai and I'm really hoping it's just service in the area and not much worse news.

Thank you again for those that had me in your thoughts, it's nice to know that people of decent character really do still exist.

You and everyone that was affected by these catastrophic events have my blessings, i never been in an earthquaking living in south florida all my life. but when it comes down to natural disasters its nothing to mess with! i hope your friend in Sendai is alright as well!

 

glad to hear you're ok, my in laws are also in the kanto area and will be going through the same blackout schedule. it was really nerve wrecking when we couldn't get a hold of them for 2-3hours after the initial quake. we've been watching the news almost religiously since.

just thought i'd let you know, even in capitalist america there's a few nice people out there... most major tv providers are showing TVJapan for free ($20/mo just for 1 channel normally) and a lot of cellphone carriers are giving free calls to japan until april. and regarding donations, i read something very inspiring recently... Afghanistan, yes...that Afghanistan donated $50k to the efforts. Pretty surreal hearing that, since they obviously have little money to start with. It was their gesture to thank Japan for the continued donations since the war.... nice to know that people care


hope all is well... a lot of talk about Japan coming out better from all the jobs created by this, much like the kobe quake in 95. we're heading back at the end of may and really not sure what to do... in 08 when we went there was also that huge quake in tohoku area. seems to be the trend when we go...

hahaha kenmei, yes that is definitely true about nice people still abound in the US. I just know I see a huge difference in customer service (doesn't always translate to a person's general niceness overall) when I go home to visit family in the US compared to how it is here in Japan.

I wish I had the "evil capital" available now to just come ever there and help out... I would be there in a New York minute!

My wife are I are donating as much of our "evil capital" as we possibly can in order to help out with the situation over there.
