Huh, yeah there are probably a bunch of variables involved. Oh well, for my next car I'll try to push back harder on the financing. Congrats on your Fit!

I got a EX-CVT

MSRP was somewhere around 19270?

And the dealer emailed me saying they had 5 cars that were $2199 off MSRP.

Edmund's estimate before TTL was 18.6 and I paid $18.8 OTD.

The second cheapest I found was $1000 off MSRP and when I emailed them the 2199 off MSRP offer they said they couldn't sell it for that little.

I have been shopping for a new car recently including the new FIT. Dealer told me the Current American Honda Finance Rate (for excellent credit only) is 3.99 for a Buy or Lease. For a Lease of the FIT it has to be through American Honda at 3.99--Honda does not use other monies for their leases. Dealer explained to me that 3.99 is a not a great rate--so he can't recommend a lease on the FIT. For a Buy my dealer recommended using my bank or credit union (1.99%) which has a better rate right now than Honda if you have excellent credit. Otherwise pay cash.

The Dealer explained that Honda's preferred recent lease or buy rates of 1.99 or less are incentives for their 3 high volume cars only: Civic, Accord, and CRV. The FIT he explains is a low production model (100K units or less per year) so is rarely pushed by the factory. Dealer told me that 2015 production of the FIT is over for the model year. Dealers have their allocations through August of units that remain to be shipped from the lot in Mexico.

The FIT production lines were re-tooled at the end of February and the first new Honda HR-V Mini-SUV's are in a slow quality control production now which will ramp up for the next 6 months with first dealer delivery by the end of the Spring of 2015. He says Honda will return in approx. October to begin production of the 2016 FITS for dealer delivery by the end of 2015.

Thanks, that's interesting info. I didn't think the dealers were usually privy to so much info from manufacturers, or at least they don't like to share it. This means that Honda would have to have quite a few cars stockpiled to handle the roughly 10 months of sales............hmmmm.

Picked up my EX CVT for 19.1k I believe that was a couple of hundred off MSRP. The dealer showed me their pricing sheets at my price the dealer made $300 on the car. I have no problem with that. Dealers that are charging 2k off of MSRP is just crazy on these cars, they must be raping people buying Odysseys and Pilots.

Dealers also get their 2-3% holdback, so they're doing ok.

Good point. They don't have 10 months of FIT inventory.

The General Manager that provided this information said that FIT inventory will run out in approx. August and that in the FIT assembly plant in Mexico, the entire focus now is to bring the HR-V to market ASAP as it is woefully late. (Was due the end of 2014).

So, a potential shortage of Fits........again.

I doubt that they will be stopping production of Fits to ramp up HRV. There is likely more than one line.

Virtually anything a dealer says is speculation. They move the tin, they don't make it.

I just purchased my 2015 Honda Fit LX, 6MT in white yesterday. After getting quotes from just about every dealer in the area, one came in several hundred cheaper than the others (Anderson in Palo Alto if anyone out here is looking). It ended up being a surprisingly easy (but long) purchasing process with minimal attempts at upselling. Financed through my credit union with no trade in. I'm super stoked for not just my first Fit, but my first brand new car.

Price: $14,988
Doc Fee: $80
State Fee: $20
License: $224
Taxes: $1356 (9% - OUCH!)
Out the Door: $16668

Oh wow thanks for this info, I just had this issue when I financed my Fit a few weeks ago (I posted a page or two back). Although I did a good job with the haggling process for a great OTD, I failed on the auto loan front since I didn't get a quote from my bank/credit union before showing up to the dealership. I ended up with a 3.9 APR w/excellent credit although it's through Capital One instead of AHF (best they could do they said...). I probably should have snagged the college grad rebate for $500 @ 4.99 APR and refinanced ASAP. This is my first car buying experience so live and learn I guess .

That's good for a LX! When I was pricing them last month the lowest I found was $1000 off MSRP. I think that was in Vallejo. But Fremont, Hayward, El Cerrito, Serramonte were all only a few hundred off MSRP.

See if you can get it refinanced through your bank or credit card company.

Great deal! Even with the 3% higher state sales tax (no bogus $5/tire tax for "disposal" like in PA?), that's $700 less than I paid. Still I feel ok with my deal as well. IMO the car is not a bad buy even at msrp, Honda set a pretty fair price, and while I gave the dealer more than I would have preferred it's a well run dealership employing good people very near my home. The 7+% cut the state took on the other hand was very difficult to swallow. Thankfully I'll make that back by paying less in gas taxes with this car for years.

Congratulations! 16668 OTD for a new FIT is tremendous. IMHO--the value you got plus fuel savings is like $$ in the bank.

9% Tax--I feel your pain! (In LA)

Thanks to everyone who posted on this thread! It definitely helped me in the quote process. I absolutely love the car . . . and the gas mileage! I'm getting almost double than my beater truck. MPG was a huge incentive to buy this car since I drive ~500 miles per week. I can't speak to the other models, but it seemed that there was quite the inventory of LX 6MTs on the lots in the Bay Area. All but one dealer had at least one in white and all had a few in other colors. It finally seems to be more of a buyers market (at least for the model I bought).

best offer I got so far is:
19,800 out of the door all fees included.
19,1225 w/ tax.
doc fee: 369
dmv: 301
tire tax: 7.50
EX CVT, modern metalic
NJ north area

Still contemplating about it.
What do you guys think about the price?
Thanks.
