Hey gettinafit. How is the gas mileage with the k20? Also is the K20 worthy of being used on a dd? Reliability is a big issue for me. Thanks in advance.

Gas mileage is 30+ when not pushing it. 20-25 when pushing it.

Reliability is 100%, it's a stock factory HONDA engine. I daily drive mine.

Bad quality though. But you still can feel it!

Crown VIc! HAHAhahahehehe NO WAY in the 1/4 mile drag could a police interceptor beat me!
"Top end" in a pursuit from 80-145 the Crown Vic would stick with me. (Must be those lights and sirens... hehe) Torque against the wind at higher speeds is better on the crown vics, and they are far more aerodynamic than the Fit anyday! Our Fit's are like a big wind sail of a sailboat, grabs so much air at high speeds, the downforce alone gets harder and harder to overcome in our cars at faster speeds.

It was snowing Sunday when you left! No way I would have driven my car "like that" in the snow! NEXT TIME!

How much did this whole setup cost? To get the k20 swapped and running?

K20A2 Motor/tranny/wire/ecu $4K; drive shaft, mounts,cables (come with the swap) ,
Headers and misc. extra parts $2k (including extras);
ECU $1k;
Labor (should only be 2K MAX so little cutting and none of it is precision, take 15 mins) ; total roughly Lowest 7.5K to 11K MAX

I am a Mechanic and thus labor is irrevelent to me. But basically depending on the price you get for things / labor it will vary. All K20 engines are not the same.

K20A3 is the 02-05 civic SI engine / 5sp trans. 160hp economical VTEC engine.

K20A2 is the 02-04 RSX Type- S engine / 6sp Trans. 200hp Performance VTEC engine. (THIS ONE IS MINES!!)

K20A is the JDM Type R engine 220hp performance VTEC engine.

And you can also do a K24 swap, or K24/k20 frankenstein.

That's up to you. info on K20's can be found at K20A.org .:. The K Series Source . Honda / Acura K20a k24a Engine Forum

Cheapest way to go is to be mechanical friendly and build your own engine and put it in yourself.

K24A Accord engine - $800
K20A2 Head - $800
K20A2 Transmission - $700
K20 Misc parts new - $200
K20 harness cables etc$200

$2700 instead of $4000 on the powerplant

So that would bring you down to 6K flat probably. No need for lotto!

Just DON'T spend money on (On your STOCK FIT) Intake, headers, voltage stabilizers, ignition boosters, rims, drop springs, HIDS, JDM tails, Stereo systems, etc.

If you are willing to put all your money in going Fast, this is IT!

If you have to pay for someone to do the work, then expect 2-3K on top of that.

Or Get the Cheaper and drastically slower K20A3 full swap. $1500 instead of $4000 on the powerplant. (but only 160 hp and economical VTEC)
