Wish my '08 came with an armrest!

 

Too hot when its really sunny out, even when the AC is blasting. I believe its due to the car being 80% windows, lol. I imagine a dramatic improvement if I'd tint the windows, but I'm wary of getting ticketed in So Cal.

 

 

Tint is a must for comfortable driving when the temperature is over 85 degrees when the humidity is high... If the temperature is over 105, the humidity low and sun is beating down in the afternoon, surprisingly I have been very comfortable... The one good thing about this heatwave is how dry the air has been and how much better the A/C works without having to deal with moist air

A few years back, after a week of sub zero temps, I vowed never to complain about summer heat again.

What you folks have been dealing with in Texas might just have changed my mind, but then I realize I'm not from Texas. ;-)

 

This may well be a record setting summer for the highest number of 100+ degree temperatures.. The temperature right now is 83, with a temperature heat index of 88.. The sand is like powder so when it does finally rain there will be ruts in the driveway... We have had to park our cars over 100 yards from the house quite a few times because of that.. It is so hot that leaves are falling off of the trees and big limbs are dropping off. At least they are dried out and easy to move.. I have plenty of fire wood already on the ground that I can saw up when it cools off some.

 

I don't like the fact the that rear window whipper, when turned off does not always go back to its original place!

I was like : "Whaaaat??!!! You guys still haven't figured that one out, in 2007?

Unless they're tempered like sway bars, you could easily get a speed/performance shop locally to probably make you one.

I am in San Antonio... even with Texas legal tint and
a sun screen covering the windshield the interior is still
toasty after sitting in the sun at the office all day.

I don't even bother with the A/C given the office is only
2 miles from home. I'm lucky to have a carport at home
to keep the sun off the car.

I'm still soaking up the heat and enjoying it. Perhaps I'm
still chilly from years in northern Canada.

 

Really like my FIt !!! except for the brakes,very spongy ,scary at times guess I'm used to better brakes,this is my plan:EBC green stuff front pads,(don't like red ceramics had them in my Accord),HAWKS are rotor eaters. 2)steel braided lines,probably all four.Any other ideas you guys can think about,different pads maybe.Wish I could do it right and install bigger brakes up front ,and discs rear.,,,,too expensive.Any suggestions welcome.Yes,, I do drive faster than normal,it is a sickness.Thanks JJS

 

Slotted rotors and braided lines with the pads you mentioned should do it.

 

rear disc do not add significantly greater braking power compared to drums... they just look better... why? cause your braking power falls like 80% on the front... except when you're going in reverse... or.. you're building a drift car...

so swapping the rear from drum to disc is practically a waste of money.. (except if you have tons of $$ in your basement like felix does)

but the front is all good in your plan: change the pads, then the brake line, then the rotor, and money permitted swap it with brembo bbk for maximum stopping power... or my dream bbk: project mu.... drooling everytime i see a project mu brakes...

 

Thanks everybody!! guess I'm on the right track, wish could afford the bigger BREMBOS, but then again, have to stick to a budget.My driving is more tight turns and short periods of straight line and I'm still getting the hang of the FIT tendencies,oversteering,understeering neutral(no such thing) even in F1, and this car ,with the rear sway bar,little one,17mm does ok,, just tested it yesterday on wet roads,no traffic, Tropical Storm Irene was just around the corner,handles nice for a FWD, maybe replace tires......................THANKS EVERYBODY!!!!!

 

You probably right kodok3ribu , from past experience rear discs would not make a great difference,would look better but too expensive.I'll concentrate on the front brakes with all around braided lines,good pads and slotted rotors.Then proceed from there,thanks again,,,JJ

 

Big challenge will be the tires,but I enjoy doing that research,,,BEST SUPER PERFORMANCE SUMMER. no winter here.Just rain every now and then.Engine? K&N air filter and 0-30 or 0- 40 MOBIL ONE,,,that is it for now guys any suggestions welcome. JJ

Hey JJ, don't need Brembos on a Fit just for DD. That's a big investment just for looks. Just my take.

 

I don't really see myself upshifting or downshifting in any cornering situation where i'm turning the wheel more than one rotation , at that point I think i'd be holding my gear, I have a MT though so what do I know?

On the other hand F1 racks are like 1:1 so they're obviously never in that situation.

The only thing I don't like about my Fit is how I always blow the fuse on the AC outlet. Honda said I need to turn the car off before I unplug anything but i've never ever had to do that with any car i've owned. EVER. EVER.

 

It is a 20A circuit I believe. What do you have plugged in, and what could turning the car off have to do with anything.?.
