I've done a few in the past

I would keep the main power wire as far as possible to the rca cables and speaker wires. I also run the power wire in an "s" rather than straight thru and keep the ground wire as short as possible.

 

Yep, power wire runs down the other side of the tunnel, then speaker wires will run up the sides and into the door.

 

Damn you doing it the hard way. Its gonna look super clean though.

 

I'd rather see those signal wires and power wires more farther apart. I do them right by the door sills.

All tested and not a lick of noise, so I think I am good.

Here is what I did today, in the home stretch now. Just need to mount the terminal strips, put in the working crossovers (still haven't finalized a design yet, I am playing with them), tidy up the speaker wires (waiting for the final position of the terminal strips) and then I need to cut the carpet to shape and put that in. I also need to get a longer ground wire and figure out where I want to put the jacks for the sub-woofer speaker wire.

is that a 4/5 chann A amp? I don't think confining it under there without proper ventilation is a good idea. Also, check if installing the amp upside down is ok.

Five channel class D. It gets warm but not hot, even playing loud. The way the heatsink is shaped and with it being enclosed, mounting position won't matter. If it ends up being a problem I will install a fan to get the air moving (already have a 12v supply back there now, so easy to do).

The end by the back of the seats has a 1.5" or so opening to the cabbin and there are plenty of airgaps arround the rest of it, so it should actually cycle air itself reasonably well.

 

Yep Class D's are very power efficient. There not like old class A, B, and AB amps from back in the day.

 

Yep. It's great.

If you think class A solid state is bad, try tube amps, the one I have disipates 22w just for the filiment heaters. It is 8wpc.

 

What do you need a tube amp for? Is it a museum piece or an old ham radio? Almost anything vacume tube is super inefficient. Transistors FTW

 

I play with it in my home stereo from time to time. Can't say it isn't cool.

I dont know why but when you say that it makes me think of doc Brown from back to the future.

 

Received the ETC that I bought from SSMTEN.
After about 25 minutes of driving I achieved this on the highway for the first time.. which equates to nearly 40mpg, then averaged about 36mpg throughout the whole trip that included heavy traffic and highway driving.


Mounted it here (afterwards);

 

Installed the I-Drive (S-Drive) ETC and a DR400G camera and then wondered down to the beach.

The "Old Guy" here. I installed a Wolo Bad Boy horn on My 2012 Sport today. Three hours, (and lots of bad words), and the "meep meep" factory horn is no more.....
