Had my oil and filter changed at the dealer!

Replaced my HVAC filter and engine air filter myself!

FUN FUN

Hoping my Fit lasts as long as my 86 Accord 3 door. 384K...almost cried when it died.

Washed, clay bar'd, polished, waxed the Fit. First time doing this or having to have done this whole process but the fine scratches in the black paint were driving me nuts and I thought i'd give it a shot and hope the process removed them.

Indeed it did, but I only got the front of the car done since I was doing everything by hand. Looking forward to finishing it tomorrow. Took away the nasty looking spiderwebs the paint showed in the sun too.

Also threw some touch up paint on some knicks I found on the body panels to help avoid rust. The front bumper has about a million knicks on it, looks like someone took a sand blaster to it from 10 paces. No buffing that out I suppose. The car is pretty well highway traveled so I guess I shouldn't expect any less.
The clay works great I have done all three cars, did the windows, lights and bumpers. Plan on doing this again in the spring.

Front took me three hours or so including washing the whole car. I did spend some extra time on the bumper, but probably could have skipped it, the knicks are here to stay unless I wetsand it I think and i'm not going to do all that. It's like the plastic is raised on the impact spots, probably from road gravel. Because of that it's not really touch-upable, and the bumper is black underneath, so it's not like I have black spots on a white car. I do have the Honda NBP touch up paint, which is great, drys fast, matches very well.

I just picked up some stuff from Autozone, bought Meguiars clay bar kit and I already had their ultimate compound polish I used to fix some paint transfer on my wife's car (it worked perfectly). I had some Turtle Wax in the garage my mom bought me like 3 years ago. Next time I will use a better wax, i'm not a huge fan but it was free and sitting there, so... I already had a bunch of microfiber applicators and towels.

So foggy this morning the condensation got all over my car, will rewash the back section before continuing I may just try the detailer + claybar first on one panel and see if that's ok without rewashing. Is that acceptable?

GE8FTW - I'd caution you against resting your hand on your shifter while you drive - I can't say with certainty this is true with this tranny, but this is well reported to wear parts (shift fork, slider and synchros IIRC) -- VW and Audi explicitly warn against it. Takes years, but why risk it?

Camera didn't get very good pics because of the nature of the scratches and the lighting. You can kind of tell in this picture. The A pillar I didn't get to, but the fenders and doors were done. You can kind of see the scratches on the A pillar but the doors and fender are solid. I am happy to have been able to fix this myself. One more thing I can do now lol

^ definately noticeable, esp on the black. once done, wax the car like a mofo!

firsts of 3 buffing stages is done....if it looks this good, the next 2 stages plus wax is going to be insane......

Got my JDM bumper installed today. Just waiting for the remaining bumper parts to come in then repaint (it's pearl white right now).

That pearl with wax is going to look so deep, i'm excited to see the finish

inkster what did you have to remove from the rear bar to fit the rear bumper? It looks good. I was thinking about switching to one of the JDM "base" plain jane bumpers since mine has quite a few hits on it anyway, so i'm curious.

Other than shortening the crash bar, everything is a direct fit. The shop was able to "wiggle" the muffler in without welding.

Parts for the conversion:
-JDM bumper
-tow cap (USDM does not fit)
-Honda Insight reflectors
-black grille (picture)

make sure the muffler lets the exhaust out far enuff, you dont wanna melt that bumper.... or direct contact can cause vibration wear or heat wear.

Did they just shorten the attachments to the crash bar or something? I'm not familiar with how it's bolted on.

They shortened the crash bar legs then weld it back on. They also had to trim the outer ends because the bumper curves in.

BMW ALPINA has a thread on it.

don't tell your insurance that. they could see it as modification of vehicle structure/safety and could deny a claim if something happens........
