In any event, no actual mods today, but I ordered the s204 lip and progress RSB today. I'm going to play with the adjustable spoiler mod this weekend and maybe play with some plastidip for the lower rear bumper section and emblems. I just wish we had a place for build threads that wasn't just the pics/vids section.
That would be a mighty dead section amigo. It would be over whelmed with cars with the following mods:
Lowering springs
Cheap wheels

That's the extent of 99.9% of 'builds' here.

given the miserable aftermarket support this car has... you're right.

Where are you seeing miserable aftermarket support?

I've never struggled to find parts that I want, they're cheap too.

or should I say lack of development? then again this is fueled by lack of demand so I can't say much. maybe i'm more annoyed by how spread out things seem to be or I just don't know the vendors well enough.

what do we really have? (specifically the ge8)

there are a couple of intakes, hopefully one of them makes power.
Axle back exhausts at cat back prices.
i think t1r has the only true catback?
engine management - nil
forced induction - nil
cams? pulleys, header? - nil (well, sort of nil on the pulley, header is no for obvious reasons, cams really do need engine management first.)
intake manifold? spoon has one but i think they're just recolored stock ones.

in the suspension area things are significantly better if you're willing to go coilover. The lack of performance shocks for a good matched spring/shock combo sucks though.

brakes are a toss-up but for 99% of enthusiasts with this car, better pads plus fluid will do the trick.

exterior/interior mods. can't really complain as I don't much care for them. I think I'm sticking to the s204 lip and making a riser for the rear wing. maybe a short shifter?

ok so in retrospect it's not quite as bad as I think. maybe i'm more accustomed to vendors that are one stop shops with well laid out sites like modernperformance.com

No I put on the Auto Ventshade ones on cause I didn't want to drill nothing especially being as new as it is, mine was made in July.
I also went and bought the Turtle Wax Black box for it too. Mine is Crystal Pearl Black.

Things are easier for GE than GD.

excellent! thanks for volunteering to be my go-to guy when planning mods.

I just need to get used to the learning curve of modding this platform. Are there any other forums to look at for info or is FF pretty much it?

It'll get there, there's tons of aftermarket parts in Japan. I'm jealous just browsing the websites over there.

There's a few GE Heros on here, really nice cars. Once we get a local ECU tuning option it will really change things I think.

ecu tuning will help but I'm concerned that the main purchasing demographic for these vehicles doesn't mod, then on top of that, the demographic that does mod is mostly younger and unlikely to blow that sort of cash on these cars.

I'm also concerned that the integrated exhaust manifold will really spike the cost of entry to "bigger" mods. By the time you buy a tuning solution and an aftermarket head, you might as well start thinking about a k-swap, which leads us back to reduced demand, thus no aftermarket tuning or heads. lol.

Still, the main strength of these cars is light weight, low cost and responsive handling. These can all be further enhanced without touching the engine bay.

And you're touching on another point that's bothering me. There is no one or two vendors stateside that carry the bulk of the "good" or quality parts for these cars. You're stuck navigating poorly laid out sites and really having to dig for it, especially since the fit isn't performance parts market leader and most sites cater primarily to other cars.

Just do your research on here and buy parts from various places, that way you can more easily get the best price possible rather than being held hostage by one vendor.

with other cars, like the srt4, you could find one vendor that carried almost everything and had damn good prices. It saddens me how "fractured" the honda marketplace is.

Drilling? There's no drilling involved with the OEM or Mugen visors.

[QUOTE=Waizzz;1205311]Hmmm, what model are those from?

I have been around Volks for awhile and have never seen those caps

I just order it from ebay and it comes in Thailand, seller said that it was from TE's, don't know exactly which model it came from. It's looks nice to me and I'm happy with it that's why I bought and just arrived today Volk Racing Wheel decals Maintenance Parts.

I actually bought these replacement decals for my TE37s - VOLK RACING decals for TE37 Wheels: Black. They're actual thicker vinyl so they'll last, unlike the actual Volk paper thin decals.

Yeah, that's what i noticed also. Do you think how many years it will last before the color will fade?

Today I started the rear wiper mod. My wiper motor burned out, so the two are hand in hand. Prepped my replacement motor to stay upright, popped the inner cover. What's giving me trouble is the wiper arm removal. The darn thing is so rusty that even after a wd40 soak it won't come off. Currently looking for a bolt removal agent to ease the job.
