Can you define your definition of "out the door"? If $15,900 included tint, gas, extended maintenance, taxes, and other garbage fees you got one heckuva deal.

If you don't mind...which dealership had that price?

I purchased my (first!!!) car on October 10, 2014
1. LX, CVT, Modern Steel Metallic, No accessories or extra warranties
2. White Bear Lake, MN (Minneapolis-St. Paul Suburb)
3. Dealer Price: $17,115
4. Selling Price: $16,900
5. Out the door price: $18,390.25
Details:
.$16,900.00 = car
...$1,098.50 = motor vehicle sales tax
......$292.75 = license & fees (government fees)
........$75.00 = doc fee
........$24.00 = electronic transfer fee (I paid down payment w/ debit card)
I paid $3,000 down and the rest financed via Honda Finance.
I went to three dealerships in the metro area. First one the guy was nice but didn't know much about the car. A month later I went to a second one where the guy was more experienced and knowledgeable, but too "car salesman-y" and they had no Fit to test drive, and he told me the soonest they could get my model+color in was the end October (this was late September when I saw him). The third place I went to for a test drive, no appt made, but the guy was great, knowledgeable and everything a car salesman should be, imo.
I was very specific about the color and model I wanted, and also manufacturing date. He gave me two print outs on different finance options (36 mo vs. 60 mo). I came back four days later after they were able to get ahold of the car I wanted (they did not have this model+color the day I came in). This is the first time I have bought a car (I've gone to dealerships while others bought their cars) and I would normally never buy new but I was in a time crunch and honestly just wanted to complete the process ASAP (needed a car for my new position, which requires driving about 500mi/week) so no desire to spend time haggling.
I feel very comfortable with the price I paid and the painless experience in buying it. Much better than other car buying experiences I've been present for. If anyone is buying a Honda in the Twin Cities I would highly recommend the place I went to and the dealer who sold me the car.
OK, hope I covered everything that people might want to know. I've had it for one day shy of a month now, put over 2,000 miles on it. Love it.

I have a printed certificate from Honda Finance for a $500 Military Appreciation discount. I have an email certificate from my local dealer that is good for $500 Internet discount on any Honda on the dealer's lot. The Internet discount states that it can be used in addition to any other factory offer.
I am going in tomorrow with my certificates to, hopefully, buy a Fit. My dealer has an LX CVT and an LX manual in stock...MSRP $17,115 and $16,315 respectively. After the $1000 discount, adding GA Taxes, and various dealer fees, the out-the-door cost for the LX CVT car should be $17,601; and the LX manual tranny car should be $16,747.
I have never driven a Fit. Tomorrow's test drive will determine which transmission I prefer....or, if I really don't want a Fit at all.
The unknown factor is what kind of interest rate I will be offered by Honda Finance. The Military Appreciation discount requires that the financing be done through Honda Finance. If they don't go crazy with their offer, I will probably sign some binding papers tomorrow.

Do a TrueCar price quote for the models you are looking for then take them with you and you might save you a few more Benjamins?

I don't think these coupons can be deducted from the TrueCar price. I did a TrueCar price through USAA and it only amounted to $180 less than MSRP. The coupons represent a $1000 savings from MSRP.

Fit
New member here. Loving the Fit. I got 40.2 mpg on my first fill up but I'm ok with "spirited driving" at 38 mpg too. 60/40 highway and city driving for those averages
I did the Edmund's Price match (2 weeks ago) and it gave me the 15K figure below and I basically told the dealer that had the model and color that I wanted that I would go with the dealer that would match the Edmunds price. I wanted to be in and out of the dealership in 2 hours and wouldn't deal with any BS add on or finance manager trying to sell me the security system.
1. LX, Blue, 6-Speed, No accessories/add ons.
2. Santa Ana, CA
3. $16,315
4. $15,991
5. $17,598
I put down $3,000 with the rest financed through Honda.
The car is fun to drive and gets great gas mileage. With that being said, it needs a serious upgrade in power. I guess that's what we sacrifice for the great fuel efficiency. I came from a 2000 Honda Accord Ex 5-speed (195,000 miles) and that car would spank the Fit every single time. It averages 27-29 mpg.
Also, what's up with the 6-speed? They should've just stuck with a 5-speed in my opinion. 50 mph at 5th gear is at 2800 rpm, switch to 6th and it goes down to 2500? I don't mind the engine noise but a little bit more power would have been really nice.

More Salesman psychobabble!
Here I go again ... I need a car that is comfortable and gets good mileage so I want to buy a LX. The only problem is the dealers are spouting the same thing as they did when I bought my 05 Element EX. ''The low price has already been built into the vehicle by the manufacturer in order to keep the price low so we cannot negotiate very much on the price.'' For some reason, dealers don't seem to realize that the same spiel gets old. I negotiated with an Internet salesman and finally bought my element for $2400 less than base sticker price, so where do they get off making this claim. No wonder car salesmen have the second most untrustworthy occupation in the United States behind diplomats and congressman.
Anybody else getting this runaround? Is there somebody else that works for a dealer that makes this claim and can explain it so that it is believable?

Aegean Blue EX/MT
Walser Honda
Burnsville, MN
17999 sale price
1170 taxes
286 title and license
75 doc fees
$19,530 out the door
They're giving the hard sell on comprehensive, life of the car, zero-deductible CNA service contract for $2500. We opted out but have 30 days to opt in. We bought a Honda because it will be reliable and won't need a service contract right?

The first interest rate quoted was 2.9%. It was dropped to 1.94% when I purchased the 7 Year-100,000 Mile Extended Warranty. I normally don't buy extended warranties on anything; but I am concerned about the longevity of the CVT. The cost of the extended warranty was $883 and is not included in the cost of the car shown above.
The Wheel well splash guards had already been installed on the car as part of the Protection Package; but I wasn't charged for them. I did not get the full protection package...only the splash guards.
