monitoring the temps on weaterbug (app on my droidx) i need to start planning the end-of season polymer application on my dd's. typically i need about 65F for the sealant to cure properly so i need to do it soon... like this coming weekend.

i think maybe thurs or friday i'll wash the car and then QD a section at a time while i apply the one-step sealant. should go pretty quick since i will be using my random orbital for this app. im basically skipping a step (polishing) as the sealant contains diminishing abrasives.

been getting crapped on by birds the last few days at the office on my G so im happy to carry around my BCE kit (bird crap emergency... ok, i just made this abbreviation up. )

the kit consists of disposable gloves, a small roll of soft paper towel, quick detailer spray (polymer based is preferred), rubbing alcohol, trash bag.

obviously you dont want to get bird crap on your hands cause it usually contains werd bacterias and even salmonela (sp?). if you do get any on your hands, use the rubbing alcohol to disinfect. i just pour into a small 2oz leak-free bottle i got at the container store and carry that instead of the whole bottle.

i spray a liberal amount of QD onto the crap while ensuring dripping is contained in my paper towel. i dab the towel and try to lift the crap off without rubbing the towel against the paint cause it will haze the finish. just spray, dab dab dab, spray, dab dab dab until you get it off. best to get bird crap off paint ASAP as it can contain harsh acids that will etch paint.

remember though, that quick details will freeze in the winter time if parked outdoors so any liquids will be need to be kept indoors.

the GE's wrench light came on so i need to change the oil pretty soon. thinking about maybe taking friday off and do it then.

finally got the garage ceiling painted yesterday... after 2yrs postponed x10000. wanted to motor my Z today but with rain and being tired didn't feel like washing after the drive so skipped and played some tunes in my music room. i got a new laptop stand for DJ's (no, im not a DJ) i can use for my macbookpro. i have a small audio mixer under it and the audio interface, HD, etc. it's a very convenient setup for doing my digital audio stuff. i placed in on a mini contemporary cabinet with casters so i can move it around the room.

when i have more time im going to paint the rest of the garage... that will need to wait until next year, probably x10000...

or not.... store did not have them in stock even though they said they did. crap, i need to source it locally since i wanted to have them in my hands today...

so this am i noticed my indian neighbor down the street who crashed her porsche suv a few weeks after taking ownership got herself a brand spankin' new full sized benz. wow, beatiful sedan.

while we live in a clean, organized, and well managed community our neighborhood isn't for rich folks... so the car looks out of place. i mean, when you see my GE in the same scenic shot you know one should've spent more $ on a nicer house first before getting an expensive car one can't really afford... hahaha... jk.

im sure she can afford the car, but that's wat it looks like.

I lived in a fairly upscale gated resort community from 1998 to 1994 and saw a lot of the same type of stuff... The lawyer/investment banker across the street had every kind of motorized toy there was for his kids, a 55 T Bird that was used in the movie State Fair, 2 Suburbans, a big Mercedes, an Infinity and huge Chris Craft day cruiser he used as a ski boat on the 600 acre lake that the community surrounded... It turned out that he was up too his ears in debt and heavily involved in the I35 savings and loan scandal and was bilking people by way of a ministry he also had started... I drove crappy but interesting cars including a 1972 Cadillac hearse, but owned my house lock stock and barrel.... The FBI got his house and an ex wife got mine.

yep, it's crazy how some high profile folks can get all tangled up in a bunch. not that my neighbor down the street is high profile by any means (otherwise they wouldnt be living there cause we have luxury home communities in the same village) but i suppose they like to act it out with their cars. which is fine and dandy and none of my biz but just sayin' it looks like someone wearing a t-shirt with nice leather dress shoes. rather the pretty benz then some rusty old crap parked on the driveway 24/7 i guess. hahaha.

so i sourced some lugs during lunch. couldn't find the SR35's but did get some black SR48's.

woot- changed the GE's oil this am (Mobil1 synthetic silver cap + factory filter), cleaned the car inside out. looks great.

didn't get a chance to motor my Z this am but i did swap out the spacers (added another 5mm up front) and installed the new lugs last night. the new lugs are 17mm vs my 19mm titeks so i have more room on the Weds to turn the socket. was a bit too tight with 19mm since im using special sockets with protective plastic sleeve.

i did test drive the new setup on my Z last night for 30min or so. very good.

Sitting here at TR getting snows wrapped on my factory G wheels. Carried the wheels loose in the GE. Did great in heavy rain.

I had the wheels in those tire totes, stacked one up on each other with a towel between the stack so didn't slip... well, until the very last turn into the store. Lol I'm so happy not to find scratches on the wheels.

Yah, back in the dayz when i was single, no kids, bunch of spare time I was like that. But reality is i have better things to do with my time than taking the car in for the fix it ticket and going to court so I just use the plate on all my cars. It doesn't bother me actually. I'd prefer not having one there but no big deal. just abide by the rules as a responsible adult. There's enough nonsense. No need to create one.

Here's the setup I used yesterday to nav myself to TireRack.

I bought the bracket/power adapter in one thingeie from Amazon. The arm is adjustable so I can use it on various cars. One downside is it uses up the only power socket the GE has. There's clearance with the shifter in Park but kinda tight.

This is the one. They sell one with extra socket too. Might get in the way though in tight situations
