I really need to do the ship in a bottle thing and put walls, roof, and garage door in a large enough to work but also small enough to heat and cool... Cooling is the priority right now, it's 112 degrees outside now having cooled down since clouds have moved in.. It's better than yesterdays 116.5 high... I don't laugh when someone says climate change, Dallas is 100 miles northeast of here and they had record snowfall in January.

 

^^ holy crap that's HOT! i lived in houston over 3decades ago and so i know heat and humidty and the super t-storms you guys got down there. nothing like the tinkle crap we have up here. but our winters can go below 0F from time to time with windchill well below -30F so it's kinda chilly...

 

Houston is like hell when it reaches 90 I don't like it at all down there. I have only experienced below 0 temperature a few times in my life.. I was a newspaper contractor in Dallas in the early 80s and had more than half of my carriers not able to get out to my district to throw their routes after a heavy ice storm.. 3 of us had to use my VW diesel truck and get out about 1200 papers in mostly apartments.. I spotted my papers where I could walk a large area of over 500 papers and a 45 year old woman and a young man drove my truck and did all that they could.. The chill factor was 14 below 0 and my beard and mustache was white with ice.. I found out then that cold kicks your ass as much as heat does... I have worked quite a bit in cold weather now that I think about it.. I loaded and unloaded mail trucks at the back of a building everyone has seen in the background of the Zapruder film.. At the time the whole city was covered in ice for days..It wasn't all that bad and I was actually working up a sweat and removing clothes.. I had never in my life worn thermal underwear until then.

 

hi texas- yah, the heat index is very high even at 90F down in houston. ive experienced 120F on the thermometer down there back in the late 70's and it was unbelievable. and it's not like it cools down at night either. hahaha.

yep, when the temps get down below 10F your nose hair instantly freezes when you breath in. hahaha. when i was QD'ing my wheels just after a carwash it just froze. working hard labor in the cold is dangerous cause you dont know if you're really hot or suffering hypothermia.

needed to use a slightly higher f/stop on this one. i'll run another shoot out tomorrow to fix this.

haha, thanks. yah, i need to work on the lighting in that shot a little bit more and the f/stop but it looks pretty good for a quick shoot.

yah ive seen some folks' garage where it was like a dumpster.... i was amazed how much crap (as in junk) they forced in there and kinda bulldozed to get their car inside.

woot, my mini manfrotto tripod is on its way to me. it's a table top one but im going to be using it on the pavement to get my low angle shots of my car. this is one of the main reasons why i opted for the D3100 instead of the D3000 camera cause i have live-view on the LCD on the D3100. would suck to have to roll around on the ground to see where im taking the shots through the physical view finder for low angle shots. hahaha.

a lot of folks have asked me in several different forums what i use as far as wax/sealant on my Z's paint cause it looks real good.

they are surprised when i tell them nothing. LOL. hahaha. all i use is Griot's SpeedShine after motoring my car and watever wax that is in there keeps the car nice and shiny with a warm rich glow.

im going to be washing the car today so took a drive through rain to test out my Continental DW tires i got on the car right now. here is how well water beads with just the wax in SpeedShine.



as far as the Continental DW's they are about as good as my Bridgestone S04 PolePositions in both heavy rain and in the dry. with this much performance with 5-6lbs lighter weight, thing is a beast for street driven sports cars.
