How much did you pay for your Fit?
Extending the warranty is probably a good idea for us even with a car as reliable as a Honda. Just my opinion. For what it's worth, I went with a 6year 85,000mile extention (Platinum Coverage) and paid $1,074 from a dealership in Tampa. Enjoy your Fit!
Just purchased 2010 Fit, Base, manual, storm silver metallic at 15,525, not including TTL. Negotiated keyless, alarm, cargo tray, wheel locks, splash guards into the price. Base car, including delivery was 14,900.
purchased a white 2010 base w/ automatic for $14,000
with tax title license etc.. in california is was about 15,900 out the door
i am sort of conflicted over whether i should have gone for the sport but the deal was good. i bet if i paid for the sport i would have been conflicted about paying even more for a mazda3 hatch or golf... if you give a mouse a cookie

^^ Nice job on the rebuilt title. You can score a nice deal that way if you can find the right car. A friend of mine just bought an 06 S2k with lowish miles for like 13k because it was a rebuilt car (theft recovery). He probably saved at least 5k over a clean 1-owner type car, and it looks and drives great.
As for me, I just bought an '09 TW Fit Sport with 23k miles for ~15,800 out the door. Car was bought from a Florida dealer and was delivered to Huntsville, AL.
I had the chance to buy a BSP Sport with slightly higher miles for like $500 less from another dealer, but I wanted white bad enough to pay the extra.

2010 Honda Fit Sport M/T (w/o Navigation) w/ protection package (Wheel Locks & those things on the doors that protect it from hitting objects) and Phantom Footprints (Everything in the car can be traced if stolen)

$17,908.18 OTD

2010 Honda Fit Sport A/T in Blue Sensation Pearl - 5 miles on the ODO, included wheel locks, door edge film, and phantom footprints (didn't find this out until after the deal was made)
Negotiated price (without tax, tag, title): $16,874.50 (all done over e-mail and telephone, figured in ~3% profit for the dealership) @ 0.9% financing with no money down
I chose to extend the warranty as well (peace of mind in the desert). At first they got me for 7yr/100k no-deductible for $1910. After the deal was done, I had a really bad feeling in my gut like I'd been had, so when I got home, I googled to see what others were paying. When I found out my deal blew mad chunks, I called the dealership back and asked to change it. Expecting a huge fight, imagine my shock when they were super pleasant about my concerns. If I wanted to cancel it completely, they said they'd do that. Wow.
I was shocked and amazed.
I ended up with 8yr/120k no-deductible for $1615, which was $500 above the cost chart they showed me -- may have been BS, I don't know, but it looked about right since MSRP was about $1500 above the number. I gladly/knowingly gave them $500 in profits for what I think was remarkable service.

I feel you about the tax; Las Vegas is 8.1%. Yuck.
Bought a 2010 Fit Sport with Navigation yesterday. Managed to talk the dealer down to $17,900 including destination and then (which I'm sure was part of the strategy) the manager came over and said they'd be losing too much money on the car at that point and that it was below invoice. I ended up getting the car for $18,300 plus tax and DMV fees, and they covered my last lease payment of $400 on my old car (so really if you factor it in I did get them down to $17,900).
Thought this might help someone who's still in the market. Here's how I came up with my target price on a 2010 Honda Fit Sport:
1) Get the Invoice/MSRP Price of the vehicle you're interested in.
2) Find out the Dealership Holdback rates and any Dealer Incentives.
3) Calculate the cost to the dealership without the Destination Fee by subtracting the Dealership Holdback and Dealer Incentive from the Invoice Price.
4) Add on what you believe is a fair amount the dealership should make on the sale. Typically 2-3% of the cost price above.
5) Now add in the Destination Fee.

Bought my 2010 TW Fit sport M/T for 17000.00 including tax/title in the middle of November...tried to sell me gap and extended warranty...said no and took off with my new car. It also came with allweather mats and trunk, rear bumper gaurd. I just picked up my window visors and Armrest today. Going to be installing them after work...

Sometimes dealer just wants to get rid of the car and do not make any profit out of it.
I paid 14K with armrest, security, keyless being part of the deal. Someone paid same 14K for base automatic. But just one day before this deal i stopped by at some other place and they wanted 800 over MSRP for some protection package and did not want to talk at all..
It all depends...
