ive been trying to eliminate this intermittent vibration i get from the front passenger side. its gotten to the point that it only happens when i hit a bump but it goes away. i thought it was from the torque rod mount rubbing on the cusco bar, so i had it taken off.

 

Annoyingly, I can't find my 10mm deep socket. Actually, I have three, and can't find any of them. And I'm too lazy today to wrench off the tie down posts. Here it is on my table, though:

ok so i took the Fit for a cruise a little while ago trying to see if the vibration went away. unfortunately after taking the cusco bar the vibration is now present at all speeds and worse when coasting (not breaking).

things i've done:
1. wheel balance
2. wheel alignment
3. passenger side driveshaft and both tie rods replaced
4. cusco bar removed.

now, the way it was before i removed the cusco bar, the torque rod mount was resting right on top of it. everything was fine except sometimes i will get the vibrations. now that i've removed the bar there is nothing pressing up against the torque rod preventing it from excessive play.

i'm thinking its the torque rod mount. after a few months of rubbing and bouncing against the cusco bar, it damaged and wore out the rubber bushing inside and in the same way it also kept the movement of the torque rod to a minimum. upon removal of the cusco bar, it gave it more room to bounce around, hence the vibration. need to get under the car tomorrow morning and take a look and see how much play it has.

one good thing, the squeaking is gone.

 

Not that I'm a mechanic but your logic sounds right to me. Especially with coasting because it would put pressure on the torque mount. I also get a bit of vibration when starting to move or reverse. I feel it in the pedal when it happens & most of what I have read points to the mounts. I have also read that the reduction of movement of the torque mount can cause the other engine mounts to wear faster.

Got some 205/50 R16s on the car finally, what a huge difference in handling and road manners its practically a whole new car.

 

to top this off i found two rounded off spacer lugs. my spacers are thin 11 mm and so are the lug nuts that it came with. i was able to change out the front tires to my snows, but i couldn't change the rears. FML!

 

Wheel specs? Thats good to hear you found some new life in the fit with a different tire option.

Haven't done much these past couple of days, however, I ordered the following:

- Tailgate cover is becoming loose, I think this happened after I tried to do the JDM wiper mod which by the way I had no luck with it.

- Taking off my HID kit, didn't want to mess with retrofit as I just purchased a pair of new headlight assembly and was too chicken to open them; went to buy some nokya artic white as I read around these forums they are as good as OEM bulbs.

- Replaced my brake pads, I still had the OEM ones; I had a rusty sound when breaking and replacing the pads fixed most of the noise. Also black-painted the drums, look better now.

- I removed the plastidip from the mugen spoiler, will be painting it tafetta white in couple of weeks, trying to have a cleaner look. I also removed the plastidip from the rear diffuser, think I got tired of it.

I haven't washed the car in couple of weeks, can't find the time to do it so hopefully I will do it after my nokya bulbs arrive.

 

Murpheys law, that dark cloud seems to follow you between the chipped hood, vibration now this. My spacer nuts are funny, they flare out @ the bottom so the socket wants to teter while tightening.

I rotated my tires last night. I lowered my car earlier last week, but it was so late that I decided I'd just rotate my tires this past weekend. Well, when I was pulling the wheels off, one of my lug nuts got gaulded and messed everything all up. So I had to go buy a tap and dye set, and after a bunch of struggle, I finally got it all fixed.

I ordered some Plastidip and it should be delivered on Wednesday. I'm hoping for enough time this weekend to get it done. I'll hold off on telling y'all the color until I get them painted, for a little bit of suspense :P

I also washed the Fit last night

 

yeah man definitely frustrating. i went to pep boys out of desperation today to get the two lug nuts off. they did a pretty good job not damaging the lugs themselves, but they had to break off two of the two rounded nuts. they did not damage the spacers much more than i did but i don't think ill use such a thin spacer again. and of course, the kid that installed my blizzaks had them pointed at the wrong direction, so i had to swap em out when i got home. slapped some antiseize (which they didnt) and put my +25 mm spacers on (yes i havent learned my lesson).

the vibrations are still there. so after swapping out wheels and checking out the old tires, there was no cupping or uneven wear evident. i went ahead and ordered the torque mount from bernardi. I hope the repair gods are finally good to me and that fixes the problem. I hope bernardi shipping comes thru by the weekend so i can put it in.

I'm still rocking the stock sport wheels with the Hankook Ventus 205's, I'd like to get some 16x7 RPF1's but there is a large Honda scene around here and they would just get boosted sadly.
