Very true. This is only the second new car I've ever had, and the first one was a Fit that I never really felt the need to nitpick over. This one though, is another story. (This is probably a completely stupid question, but...) in the case of the door scuffs, do I contact the dealer's service department? Does it have to be the dealer I purchased the car from, or can it be anywhere?

I have to admit, I was very disappointed with the dealer prep and I suppose disappointed with the initial Honda quality inspection overall. I swear all that the dealer did was to slap on the wheel covers and call it a day. First off, when I got to the dealership to pick up the car, there was a white, what looked to be like a scratch, on the driver side rear door. I told the sales person if it didn't come out, I wasn't taking the car. Fortunately they easily removed it with some polish. But instantly when I saw that, I was a little hesitant in general. I didn't have much time for a really close inspection so I completed the paperwork and I went on my way. However, when I got home and I started a closer inspection, there was sticky glue residue all over the driver's door sill plate. And there was sticky glue residue over the entire upper portion of the hatch and on the Honda emblem. I had to really soak it down with Goo Gone and then rub and rub until it was all removed. It was very stubborn and tough to remove. Also, the driver's door weather stripping was pulling away from the front corner of the body frame of the vehicle. I pushed it on, and it slowly pulled back off. I pushed it on again, and is slowly started pulling away again. After several attempts of pushing it back on, and having it pull back off, I simply removed the entire weatherstrip and I put it back on myself - now it's staying put as it is supposed to do. I don't think they applied it with even "tension" around the body frame and it was too tight in the curved area where it was pulling away. Also, where the flap is on the floor, near the passenger seat, the one that covers the VIN#, there was all of this white fuzzy carpet padding sticking out all around the perimeter of the flap. I opened it up and the carpet and padding was all messed up and improperly shoved into the cover. I had to pull the carpet out and reposition it back into the frame of the cover and then I took sissors and I trimmed off all of the extra white fuzzy stuff that was originally sticking out. I closed up the cover and now it looks like it should with no fuzzy stuff sticking out. On the passenger side door pillers, there were white marking pen marks. . . 2 straight lines in one area with a dull area of paint between the lines - it looked like rubbing compound was used to polish the area between the lines, but it was still dull so I took some polish and I removed the white lines and I shined the area; another one of the areas was a large white oulined circle; and the other area was a small outlined white circle. They easily removed with some more car polish, but they looked ridiculous when I opened up the doors and I saw white pen markings against the red paint. I'm assuming the marks were part of some type of quality inspection, BUT, they should have been removed after the inspection was completed. And lastly, when I opened up the hood, there was this piece of black foam about 6"x1.5"x1/2" just lying on top of the engine. I'm assuming (hoping) it was just a stray piece of left over foam from somewhere. And I also had to vacummn and wash the car. You're probably wondering why I didn't take the car back. Well for one, and obvious good reason, I don't trust dealership repair service or their prep people and I knew that I'd do a better job fixing these (minor) issues on my own. I feel if they didn't get it right the first time, they'd only mess it up even more the 2nd time. And a point to note, they had 5 days to prep this vehicle. I love driving the car so far so I'm getting over my initial frustrations. And since I haven't owned a new car in so long, or a Honda, I don't know if this is now a typical experiece or just the product of lazy prep and poorly trained assembly people. I had thought of buying a used car, but I chose a new one to avoid such things. I did take some photos of what I described, but I couldn't get them to upload with my post. Fortunately, I still have hope that this is going to be a really great car! (P.S. Call me sentiment, but I like to keep such things - the window sticker was also torn in two. Are they really that difficult to remove?)

Well, mine was made in Mexico and it's very high quality. All the detail places and window tint shops around here are staffed with folks from Mexico and they are outstanding. I accept that there always challenges with a new plant in a different climate and newly trained workers, but with some practice I expect they will do quality work.

Your dealer did a very poor job on pre delivery inspection and preparation. My car VIN 22335 had no issues and I made a list of things to look for based on posts on this website. Honda will ask you to rate your dealer so I hope you were honest in your response. Sometimes the dealer may pressure you to give a top rating that is not deserved. I hope you get this fixed and have good experience with car in future. SR45--Thanks for your post, I could read it. Bill

My 2015 FIT LX-CVT VIN 22335 has been excellent so far. Delivered Sept 6 and now have 326 miles on it. Dealer prep can make a difference on car you get. I think the higher VIN numbers will show improvements.

I had more QC issues on my 2013 Accord built at the Marysville plant. Not a one with my 2015 Fit built at the Celaya plant.

I'd say it's easy to pick on the Celaya plant and blame them for the QC woes of the very vocal few, but it is not fair to paint the whole plant as failure because of it.

I also agree that it's the dealership's fault for not doing proper PDIs and letting the sale win over releasing a Honda that doesn't meet quality standards to a customer.

SR45, You are correct, I now see what I did not pay attention to. I hope this is the worst thing I do today. Sorry for the glitch! Bill

Please understand that I'm from Southern California and just like in Texas the Hispanic population is huge. My statement is not against Mexicans. Some of the hardest working people I've ever met are from Mexico. It's against the reputation and quality history that Mexico has. (Any vw bug or Jetts and ford focus as well as many other examples) Mexican plants have always been known to produce cars that are of worse quality then American, Japanese or European made cars. I would think it has to do with low wages and workers being undertrained and or possibly undereducated.

My vin is in the 13000s. The plastic piece on my steering wheel is perfectly aligned. My paint is near perfect--at least I have not spotted any defects, and I waxed in on day two. My door seals seem to work fine, but mine does pull away a bit when tugged in the upper doorframe corner by the A pillar. Doesn't seem to affect anything, and I would not consider mine defective. My sunroof seal has what I consider a slight misalignment such that the front two corners of the seal are slightly below the body, as opposed to being a couple mm above the body, as the rest of the seal is. I posted about this elsewhere on this site, and Honda corporate contacted me directly and is arranging to have it inspected and photographed for eval. at the dealer. Other than that, the car seems very well made. I agree that the floor mats and cargo liner are disappointing. Finally, the rear edge of my rear doors, down about knee level, accumulate a black dust. I don't think the car is generating this dirt pattern, but something about the way the wind passes the car at this point causes dirt build up. It's not really a defect, just odd and mildly annoying. Anyone else have this issue?

My friend just picked up his black LX 6-speed today. He already has to bring it back for some dents, and another friend noticed that both headlights have condensation. To be honest, I have not checked the forums in a while and had no idea there were so many QC problems. I feel guilty now because I talked him into getting a Fit instead of a Civic Si! He was coming from a 2014 Civic Hybrid.

I will take a closer inspection of his car in the daytime, but the condensation is bad news already!

Always wondered how condensation got into headlight casings anyway.

Why did your friend want to trade a 2014 for a 2015?

Kapper: I have what I consider a misaligned moonroof seal as well. My seal is slightly lower than the body in the front two corners. The rear edge of the seal is fairly high, higher than any other part of the seal. Honda corporate is having me bring it in for inspection at my dealership; the dealer looked at it already but could not determine for sure if it was misaligned since there was no other EX Fit on the lot. I have posted pictures. Search for "moonroof seal" in the 3rd generation forum.

He gave his car over to his mom because her lease was up. I was just thinking about how it got inside as well, maybe while washing the car for delivery they sprayed under the hood? There was a fair bit of it on both headlights on the inside part where the turn signal is.

Also, when I went to the press release event and test drove the EX manual for hours, I could have sworn it had less road noise than my friend's LX. I know that the LX has different materials for the undercarriage paneling, maybe that makes a difference in interior noise... I'm not sure there just thinking out loud.
