Surprise from Honda!

Well!

I just got a book of ten free car washes from my Honda dealer in the mail. All I do is bring them coffee whenever I go for servicing.

Sometimes it pays to be a nice guy.

Windows tinted...YEA!!! Did some research online, drove into Austin. Bought Llumar, (Llumastar Hi Performance ATR)...35% front windows; 15% rear windows and rear windshield. $223.09 out the door, (included shop supplies and sales tax).

I'm stoked!

Took the Fit down to the Honda Dealer to look at a new CRV Very comfortable inside and it drives really nicely. That'll be a nice family Hauler with more rear legroom than the fit by far. A lot more interior space that the fit too when the seats are folded flat.

I used to take a 6-pack to the local Ski shop whenever my skis needed to be tuned/waxed. I'd walk in and they'd say... 3-5 days to get them done, put the beer on the counter and they were ready in an hour. Guy I used to work for bought lunch a few times a week for the guys installing his pool. his wife always had a pitcher of lemonade and a bucket of Ice on the porch with a few clean cups. Work was done in under the quoted amount of time and it was meticulously done - not a detail missed.

Our Honda Service Dept likes baked goods. We had a number of cupcakes left over from my son's birthday party so we took them in to the dealer. Definitely pays to keep them on your good side.

oh yeah, the CRV is for my mom.

Today was window tint day. Formula One Pinnacle 30 on the 9 side windows/rear window, and Air Blue 80 on the windshield.

I tend to keep cars a long time, only average 8-10,000 miles a year in the car now (with more miles towing the car behind the motorhome), and the car lives outdoors 24/7 365 days a year. So due to all that, I wanted a very high quality window tint and spent the extra for the Formula One Pinnacle.

I was going to go with a lighter tint than 30, but the 50 looked VERY light, and they didn't have enough 40 to do all 9 windows the same tint level. 30 is as dark as I would ever go - I'm just not into the real dark tints. Came out great, and from inside looking out 30 is fine. Outside looking inward it appears darker.

It's rare for people getting violations/fines/tickets (whatever it's called) for tints being too dark, but here in WA and OR, 35% is the limit.

I'm a SD resident legally, with registration, plates, and driver license in SD. So the SD tint laws over-ride whatever state I am in at any particular time. I am retired and a full time RV traveler, in different states all the time.

Different websites show different tint levels legal for WA.

This one says 24% light, 35% reflective. The tint installer said 24% as well.
Washington Window Tint Law - TC Window Tint

WA State Patrol website also says 24% light, so Pinnacle 30 is legal in WA: Passenger Vehicle Equipment - Washington State Patrol

Oregon 35% Oregon Window Tint Law - TC Window Tint

SD 35% front, 20% rear: South Dakota Window Tint Law - TC Window Tint

So technically, with SD plates/registration my front windows are 5% too dark.

Edit: Pinnacle 30 transmits 33% light, 7% reflection.

^ Dude no worries. I don't think any trooper's going to give a retiree RV traveler a ticket for tint unless you have crazy 5% limo tint...

Thanks Black3sr for the link. I installed the springs to stiffen up my drive by wire. This didn't solve the pain in my lower back, but it did help with the over sensitive pedals.

The ride is a dramatic improvement over my beat-to-hell former setup. I was completely unprepared for the dampers to do their job so well. Everything is so much tighter and more unified. Bumps are a little harder, but they don't rock and rattle the chassis. Even the weight shift on acceleration and deceleration feels more neutral. It's like a new car, coming from my old setup.

After I took those photos, I removed the adjustment ring on the rear springs, because it was sitting silly high. It's still a bit higher than my last setup, and it looks a little silly on my 15x7 wheels, so I will probably take out the perches soon. The front is also a little higher than on my old setup, but those are set pretty much as low as they will go.

Time to start saving for some 16-inch wheels for next spring.

Did you get the tried and true 1st-gen JDP spoiler, or the new duckbill that he's doing. I like the duckbill, but I love mine more. It looks pretty OEM in size...until you park next to a stock Fit.
