Why change the coil packs? Are they bad / Check-Engine-Light? They work until they don't. Easy enough to change later if any go bad.

as Emergency Stop Gap so I can start installing my Dynaudio Esotar but before I can get a Brax MX4

I am forced to Buy and Install a cheap Sony XM-GS4 power amplifier few days ago...

even the way I install it, its kinda "emergency style"

By the way,

Today, I did the wiring/soldering etc so I can utilize the stock Honda Fit OEM Head Unit as a music player on the dinner table...
I supply it with power from my extra car battery with a Schumacher PSC-12500A Battery Charger to recharge it.

I rewire the Hazard Button so now it's function just like ACC position on our car key

I also bought a cheap MDF speaker box by Atrend on eBay
and use a pair of Morel Hybrid Integra 602 2 way Coaxial as the speaker...

I originally bought this brand new Morel Hybrid Integra 602 2 way Coaxial for the rear door speaker,
but I change my mind and do not want a rear fill speaker anymore,...
was trying to sell it back on eBay but change my mind again and finally decide to use it at home...

so at least the stock Honda Fit OEM Head Unit now have some job to do instead of becoming another unused piece filling up my storage space

Man, I hate that I have a stock Fit stereo sitting in my basement.

I can't imagine ever putting somewhere people will actually see it. You're wild.

Hahaha,
Yes, I agree with you,
the stock OEM Honda Fit Head Unit is not the prettiest thing out there,
but
I hate when I have things that still work but do not do any work,
even if it is an ugly stock OEM Honda Fit Head Unit,
I still rather have it work for me in some capacity some way than just "sitting ugly"

Hey, new guy here. Installed my first mod yesterday, a shiny brand new Pioneer X731BT head unit. The old one was perfectly fine, but bluetooth is great and the speakers sound 100x better. Would have done it myself if the thermometer wasn't on the wrong side of 0 Fahrenheit (I'm up in Western New York). Took it to a (heated) car audio shop and had the pros take care of it.

Can't wait to do more. Your cars are inspirational

Why don't you use an old 12V charger/transformer from and old device and wire it in, just plug it in the wall and forget the bulky battery?

Hello,
I got this battery brand new for free as warranty claim at Walmart,
so if I don't use it, the battery will be dead too...
I also don't have old charger/transformer,
so I decided to buy a brand new schumacher psc-12500a charger
and connect it to the battery...
this way, not only I keep the battery fresh, just in case the one in my car die,
I also have a new battery charger (that can function as jump start mode)
that I can use forever.

Here is the picture of the charger:

I can't, I have to plan for long term,
because as soon as I can buy a Brax MX4 for my power amp in the car,
the Sony XM-GS4 amp will be relocated from my car to the dining table to power this system and it will need powerful charger so it can charge quickly,
beside I want to have a powerful charger that can jump start the car if I need too..., buy one and keep it forever without need to upgrade...

few months ago, my walmart battery in my car died, so I had to buy a brand new one, because I don't have a jump start charger,
until I realize, my old battery still under warranty so I get a free new battery extra as warranty replacement, anyway it's complicated hahaha

I also don't have old coffee table,..
but I have a lot of cartoon boxes from buying all the parts for my Fit

I just check my VIN number on Honda webpage for recall,
Mine is 2013 Honda Fit Sport,
and voila, there is a recall issue for my passenger side airbag just 2 days ago...

I check on the repair manual,
looks like they have to take out the Audio unit too...
well, that mean I better took my head unit and many things myself,
to make sure the dealer do not drop or scratch mine... before I left my car at the dealership for replacement passenger side airbag...

anyway, I made appointment online to a dealer near me,
hopefully I know soon whether they have the parts in stock or still long long wait...

They replaced my airbags and door switch in under 2 hours while I waited, although they told me most of the day... in and out.

i honestly thought this mightve been a mistake, but then i REdid my VIN (which had been checked a couple months ago in 2017) - and sure enough, there is a new recall from 2018-jan-09 for my 2013-fit-base !!!

THANK YOU, for letting me/us know... this board, and its users, are awesome... h.

ps - will have to check in with dealer during daylight hrs, etc, etc...

Long time member but not very active. 2009 Honda Fit Sport owner. Recently hit a deer and had to replace the headlight assembly. Getting quotes on the hood repair but FINALLY installed the plug and play horn upgrade. It was all the rage back in 2009. I had easy access to it as I had to pull the front bumper.

I've had the car for almost 10 years, purchased November 2008. It's been a GREAT car. Still fun to drive after all these years and almost no issues. I did have the airbags replaced under warranty. The switch for the fan also needed to be replaced. Despite my car being out of warranty Honda USA did pay for half of the repair when I showed them the TSB. Enjoy your Fits everyone and thank you for all the info over the years!
