Green Stuff pads and EBC slotted rotors. Braided lines are back order from StopTech so they will go on another time.
I used EBC green stuff on the EBC blade slot rotors... I guess it's cause of my driving habits, but it was down to the wear indicator in less than 11 months (and I average 17k miles a year). I have a bigger complaint, but I'll get to it after a comparison.
After that 11 months, I switched the calipers to Wilwood's 4 pot DPHA caliper with matching brake pads. Those pads lasted 16 months. Interestingly enough, the Wilwood pads are a little thinner and have a smaller surface area. They're still on the same EBC blade rotors and the slots are still there, so my guess is the new pads are slightly harder to chew through. But they don't have wear indicators, so I have to pay more attention to avoid wearing them down to the backing plate. I had worn one edge of the EBC green stuff close to the backing plate due to uneven wear on the pad.
That said, back to the EBC pads... my biggest complaint is the dust. It's terrible. There's a light noticeable coating on my silver wheels after only a few days of washing the Fit, if you're standing close by. After a few weeks, it's quite severe, to the point that my front looks like the gunmetal color, instead of silver... and that's even if you're standing further away.
Of course, there's the grip aspect of the pads, I mean, that's its job, right? And luckily, it was a saving grace as they work quite well.
How do you go through pads so quickly on a street car? I'm at 97k in my GE and still have a bunch of life on my OEM pads....and I live in a city of 600k ppl.
Some dude mentioned flushing clutch fluid
i just bought my Fit with 66k on it
When do ppl suggest flushing it?
Is it the same idea as changing break fluid?

My issue after switching to Wilwood 4 pots + BP-10 pads was the rear brakes; not enough bite to match the front pads. Thankfully, our region gets disc brakes all around. Switched the rear pads to Dixcel ES. Much better now.

Wow!! Well if I go through them that fast I will be going back to OEM pads then. The dust might be an issue though. If it stops that much better then it might be worth the dust. I got a set for the wife's Pilot too.

OEM yes, he is talking about EBC pads. I can easily get 100k miles out of OEM pads. Some people are just harder on brakes.

My factory pads lasted something like 60k... which I think isn't too bad since I'm using my Fit for food delivery (stopping every other freaking block). The second set were still OEM, but shortly after installing those, I had the Sprintex installed. I got more aggressive on the driving and braking, so it wasn't surprising that those lasted less at 40k.
But the aftermarket pads were also on slotted rotors (installed with the pads), designed to chew through pads in the name of "cleaning." But I really wasn't expecting to get less than 20k from them. Apparently, I had remembered wrong, this was to the wear indicator, not much more.
I just went out to the garage and kinda thankful I'm a bit of a hoarder, since I found my old pads. I found the EBC green stuff and what I presume to be the 40k pads right before it (8 pads in the box). The 40k pads were almost to the backing plates, while the EBC pads had much more life left to it. The wear indicator of one had squealed for a while and then stopped... because it had snapped off halfway up. If I had driven until the next time that one triggers, I'd be eating the backing plate. The other indicator looks like it was close to contacting the rotor (unless it too broke a little off the tip), despite looking like it had the same amount material as the other indicator pad. Oddly enough, the non-indicator (outer?) pads were thinner than the indicator pads. Considering how many miles to trigger the wear indicator from fresh, the whole thing wouldn't have lasted another oil change (6k mile interval) anyway.
Oh, I'm at 148k on my Fit... on my 5th set of pads (2 OEM, 1 EBC Green Stuff and 2 Wilwood BP-10s)... too bad these are ruined after only 2 months and a few thousand miles (as previously mentioned in this thread a week ago). My solution is to BBK it!

Goobers, you gotta get rear discs ASAP.
If I'm lucky, the rear discs will be shipping to me this weekend... *fingers crossed*

Admittedly, I'm kinda stacking the deck against the pads. Slotted rotors designed to "clean" the pads by scraping off the surface. Using the Fit for deliveries (ie, I do a lot of braking in 5 hrs of a day), and I'd classify myself as a spirited driver at all times. You should get a little bit more life than me... but that dust though... yuck. I hate it so much, I swapped calipers to the Wilwoods because I had thought about it in the past and in the hopes of getting similar performance with less dust.

Wild man. This SC seems like it brings on more upkeep than a second car.

EBC pads aren't meant to fail at 15k miles lol. They are not aggressive pads at all. I know dudes who track their cars, leave the pads on & drive on the street that get longer pad life than that.
just as I started to do my deliveries, I got rattling noise. Long story short, my heat shield/cover for the (secondary?) catalytic converter half hanging off the car. Looks like the broken end rusted itself apart and is barely hanging by the other end. I suspect that is the rattling, since I haven’t had time to get under there to take it off to confirm.
That stupid flood just keeps on giving...
And here, I thought I could go a little bit without having to post yet another new problem with my Fit. Guess not.

Dunno what to tell ya there. I’m not saying that EBC is bad or anything. But this is my one experience. If there’s anything related to mechanical causes, maybe the sliding pins weren’t as well lubed as they should be, since the outer pads were more worn. Maybe, maybe not.
That said, I can make guesses all night long but I’ve already moved to the point that can’t use EBC pads, since I couldn’t find any that would work in Wilwood calipers. I stand corrected. Anyway, I’ll stick to Wilwood pads for the time being.
A friend mentioned a micro chip instal for the Fit
Anyone have one?
Microchip.... to do what? To change the way the ELD triggers the alternator? To "improve" MPG? To "increase" HP? To change the way the turning lights flash? To increase your hourly pay? To give your coworkers BJs?
If you have no idea what its for or why you'd want it... that's pretty much a guarantee to forget about it and don't bother. If you do have an idea, then you can find out whether it even works or not, let alone if its worth it (it probably isn't).

In less vague news... it turns out my heat shield had rusted through and broken 3 of the 4 mounting areas that hold it in place... one bolt of those three came off by breaking the thread it seems (pretty sure it should've taken more than a half turn to thread out the bolt). The other two were stuck. That 4th/last area... as I was trying to remove the bolt, the shield completely broke free. And since I was bending the brackets in my earlier attempts to remove the bolts, I just quit at that point.
Now, I have an exposed lower catalytic converter.
Now, I'm trying to figure out what to do... get some hose clamps and spacers? New heat shield and do something about the rusted bolts? F-it and just not park on grass or anything else that might burn?
But they are expensive, for what they do (I consider $50 or more as expensive for a cap). If you're a genuine Mugen aficionado, then by all means, especially if it's a show car. I'm not that particular about the cap, rather, I just wanted something that wouldn't chip and break like the factory cap I have. I figured an inexpensive aluminum cap would work.
The cap I bought was with the intention of just using it for a cap. I didn't plan on installing the emblem.
I still have the cap, since I decided not to deal with 3rd party returns. I might just see if autozone/advanced auto has a gasket that fits since that's the only issue. And no, I don't plan on installing the emblem now as well.
yea screw buying an "official" cap. i ordered this like 3 weeks ago and just got it today. $8 on ebay. leaving my emblem on. guess ill smooth the burrs down a bit lol
does your cap have a similar gasket? i gave my cap a quick spin to make sure it fit, but brought it inside so i could get a fine pick to reposition the emblem that came preinstalled. the gasket seemed ok but i didnt really look at its seal on the valve cover. ill see visually how it seals tomorrow in the light and determine if it seems safe. on a site i saw that the official mugen ones have a flat gasket. i guess if nothing else, opening the hood after a couple of days and finding the bay covered in motor oil will tell me if this gasket is ok

It does have a similar gasket, but when I went to test fit it, it was clear as day, the gasket is too far out, because the fill port had a little bit of oil that transferred over to the cap, showing it was smaller and completely missed the gasket.
I ordered a couple of parts from HondaPartsNow, so I decided to chuck in an OEM gasket and see if it fits... but of course, as I'm typing this, I realize... I have my factory cap&gasket, DUH. Oh my god, brain fart. Par for the course, I guess.
In other news, due to the ever annoying rainstorm we had today... I found out that the passenger side fog light gets... foggy (how ironic). I wonder if it's cracked somewhere on the backside. Unless it's the new LED light I put in, not creating a seal. Guess I'll need to check it out someday... it never ends.

wow..i didnt consider seeing if the oem fits either. that mobile 1 gasket is serious!
as for your foglight, make sure your bulb isnt actually smoking in there. i had that on my last car. one fog would run hotter than the other and the bulb would smoke up the housing if ran for long periods at a time, leaving the glass lens looking hazy from the inside. unless its literally condensation...then just disregard everything i said.

Personally, I'd leave it be, deal with it later. Until I've decided what to do and have the time to get it done.
Edit: Whatever you decide to do, I don't think it's a good idea to park on grass or anything that might burn anyway.

lol. i see i have a fan now. thanks for following me and my posts! kissiez!
glad i could reignite your interested in the fitfreak forum again...im sure after being here for so long things become stagnant. you do know theres millions of other websites to visit nowadays, right? aside from your negative attitude and posts to everyone...i still was willing to give you the benefit of the doubt and hold you in a higher regards since you have been here awhile. you know (probably not), like ur an "OG" with wisdom. but just like in real life, just because someone is old, or has been on the scene for awhile, it doesnt mean they need to be respected. some people just have nowhere else to go. funny thing is your probably like 25 years old. so how could you understand. instead be passive aggressive via the internet, interjecting. lol.
i pat you on the top of your head with your helicopter hat, and send you back off to play in your Powerwheel with goofy canards n mismatched wheels. yes they are round, but not the same. ok, ok, i know...u just want to stand out. and show everyone you have two sets of wheels. TWO!?!? holy s**t. balla in the house! self discovery and independence is all apart of learning to be a man. i get it. your an outlaw. all the women love a bad boy.
Maybe one day the "lil homie" will understand that cars are just meaningless pieces of metal in the end. no need to overload you on manhood now... ill let you enjoy your ice cream cone, getting it all over your face like a silly goose. better not drop it, cuz Im not buying you another one mikey.
I've been subscribed to this thread for eight years. To follow you would require doing something out of the ordinary. I'm here bc I can provide useful input and knowledge. One of about two GE owners that can still do so.
