The passenger side CV shaft broke. The shaft cracked underneath the boot on the prop shaft where they always seem to corrode away and break. Was close to home. Girlfriend bailed me out. Missed a day of work.
Dirty mass of rust on the other side.
Mine happened 5 years ago, and doesn't seem as nearly as corroded as yours.

Apparently, the axle has something called a "balancer" on it (that rubber covering)... and that's where it snapped.
My current theory is... it cracked during my road trip (July '11) when that side slammed into the ground because my front wheel went off the pavement when I didn't turn sharp enough. After that, around spring of last year (maybe Mar '14), I got a lot of water under that rubber and it got weaker from there.
Having the supercharger from the preceding Christmas/New Year (Dec '13/Jan '14) just sped up the eventual destruction.
So, I don't think it was a simple/quick catastrophic failure... but a cascade of events starting from the road trip. But it's just a theory.
I had the mechanic do a transmission and clutch fluid change since those were overdue... and while he was at it, to inspect the fluid being drained in case there were any metal in it to indicate a failure. He didn't see anything in the fluids and they otherwise seem fine.
It might not be -40 around Chicagoland... but it's f-ing cold enough. I'm tired of this shit.

Did you replace it with a factory or aftermarket axle? Seems the factory ones are too expensive and prone to corrosion under the damper, and the aftermarket stuff tends to be junk.
Some folks cut the rubber damper off the factory axle. Seems like a good solution.
I had it replaced with OEM ones from Bernardi Honda online. Looks like HPN is a little cheaper. This is for MT. It's still pricey overall, but it gives me a little more piece of mind than the super cheap aftermarket ones.
I might eventually just get a pair of remanufactured axles. At this point I'm not even sure which one is clicky anymore...however...the new one is floating around (not affixed to the outer CV joint) which can't be good.
Opened up the rear drums of my 2009 with 118,000 miles (manual transmission) for the first time to see how things looked. Surprisingly, good as new. A quick clean, grease and a few clicks of the star nut adjuster to tighten them up and I'm good to go.
FWIW, I'm early into my third set of pads up front (stock, then Hawk HP+, now Hawk Ceramic), third set of discs up front (stock, then centric cryo solid rotors from tire rack, now centric regular solid rotors), and have been running goodridge braided ss lines front and back for past 10 years.

Yeah my drums looked good as new when I trashed them back in July last year. Front brakes lasted till 60k before needing a refresh. Running the 11 inch conversion on the front now.
Yesterday, I rotated my tires. As there are more people out and about walking in my neighborhood, a quick job turned into a long one as each person wanted to stop and chat. But that was fine, as I had plenty of time on my hands. And gloves. Time and gloves.

I hope they were keeping a good distance. No point in this quarantine if folks are visiting more than usual.
Installed new speaker drivers! I work for a store that sells car audio so of course it was cheap for me. Just the fronts plus the tweeters. Huge difference. They do require much more power
If you don't mind me asking how did you get enough slack to run the tweeters in? I bought a six speaker set and installed it a while back but couldn't get enough slack to use for the dash tweeters. At the moment mine are still stock.

Not sure, the one who installed it was our installer guy........ go figure.... he doesn't work weekends
The tweeters just slotted directly into the stock housings since the Sport already has tweeters, We just used the wiring that was already there. We didn't use the fancy tweeter pods that came with the set. He just took the connector off and put the wires in. For the crossovers he intercepted the wires from the stock amp. Stock tweeters dont really have a cross over, it's basically just a high pass filter made from a single cap. The hardest part was modding the door cards to fit the silcone baffle and adapter rings to use the stock grill
The set up looks 100% factory there's no way of telling there's fancy speakers in there vs a stock Fit Sport

Today I found out that my '09 GE Sport's mpg meter is overly optimistic and says I average 38 - 39mpg, when in fact I actually get 32 - 33mpg.
Had me fooled for a while till I actually did the math.
Anyone with an out-of-warranty GE managed to get TSB 09-086 done to correct this? How much does the dealership usually charge for the ECU reflash?
Upon this new discovery, my Alfa is now the most fuel efficient car in my stable... maybe since it's a bit aerodynamic and half the height of the Fit.
How did you compute fuel mileage,, its how much you added to the tank from 0 reading plus 10 liters found at the reserve tank of the car
I go with how Fuelly calculates it which is the Trip distance divided by how much gas the car took before it clicked itself off.

Thanks man -- I had it on my white FR-S and had to bring it back when I got the Alfa. I'm just trying to collect them all.
...but I'm not going to bother with #E3E3E3 for my Storm Silver Fit.

That is amazing!
Now I'm wondering what the closest hex code for Championship White would be... FEFFF0, maybe?

Haha, time to bust out the eyedropper tool!
Btw your 500k+ thread encouraged me to get a Fit (I think you were about 400k when I bought mine). My '09 GE Sport has only 150k mi on it... I have a long way before I catch up to you.
