What did you do to your GK Fit today?
#1941
you and I have gotten along real nicely. lets keep it going *hugs*
but, I get what you're saying tho. also, a ton of people love the whole pissing battle of what brand is "better". I for one dont care for it, unless companies (like Megan) want to pay me
you said I should try the Progress ..... I havent ruled it out .... the progress one appears to be 2mm more thick .... that alone may make it a more superior rsb

I also chose the Progress RSP over the Megan because I didn't like the three piece setup and also feel a weld is better than a bolt. I also think there is something to the angle of the Progress RSB, that it is in more than one plane, that may add to its effectiveness. But, Charlize Theron, as they say (saw a movie where people tried to replace popular phrases with famous names...).
Anyways, what did I do today to my fit? Schroth 4-point harness with shoulder pads and pull tabs ordered! #racecar !!!

metal pedals:

the install would go something like THIS:

if $61 is considered "pricey", then YES.

First "real" work I've done to my little 2015 EX (6-speed), other than oil changes.
I love almost everything about my little Fit. It's a much more fun little car to drive than it has any right to be, but the front brakes really let it down.
So, off with the stock (and warped) front disks, and on with shiny new Power Stop drilled and slotted ones, along with a set of Centric's StopTech Street brake pads.
They look nice, hopefully they will also function better and above all....not warp....

Update if anyone is interested.
This upgrade made a huge difference!! I have ~ 5,500 miles since I changed these brakes, including a round-trip from AL to CA. I've pushed the brakes pretty hard on occasion, particularly on the long winding (and fun!!) road leading to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, and CA Hwy 9 from Saratoga to Santa Cruz (one of my all-time favorites from my motorcycle days) and not a hint of fade, no warping and holy crap do they slow this little car down in a big hurry!! MUCH better than the stock pieces. About the only downside is that they are a little noisy when cold, but only a little.
Hard to beat for the price. In fact, I can't think of any reason to use the stock parts when replacing front brakes on a Fit.

Lol i can confirm HPS are noisy and dusty, but they bite nicely when cold. Hot they are soso, after late braking into 5 or 6 consecutive corners they will fade. Good for the price tho, better than stock for sure. Good street pads will bite hard when cold, u dont want to have to warm them up like some ceramic pads to do an emergency stop when that random asshole cuts you off or brake checks you.

I've used HPS pads as well. They work much better than OEM, yes. But, as had been said, they are dusty. Performance pads usually dust more. Not a big deal.
For rotors, there's no reason to run drilled or slotted on a street car. Drilled have a greater tendency to crack. But they look cool, lol.

i find it interesting you all are seeing more dust with the HPS pads.
Idk what pads my car had initially, I assumed they were stock, but I just got my GE a few months ago (had 54000). Changed to slotted rotors and HPS pads and the dust level has dropped at least 50%.
Maybe they were aftermarket because they didnt stop well and dusted like crazy.
Anyways, Ive been using Hps pads for about 10 years now...they work great for my application and driving style. I obtained them through ebay for about $65 shipped.

They were probably aftermarket. And crappy ones. I've never had an OEM pad produce much dust at all. Last OEM pads that were dusty that I recall were VW. I recall tons of 90s, maybe early 2000s Volkswagens running around with wheels caked with brake dust.

Go Tuning Unlimited
It's not worth it. For significantly less than $1,300, you can buy, and install, better tires and brake pads. Your brakes will perform better and you won't break the bank doing so. You'll also blow the stopping performance out of the water compared to a rear disc conversion.
