I installed the Sprintex on Saturday and Sunday,
and today
I was doing a lot of troubleshoot with my AEM F/IC-6,
finally after overcome a weird OBD error cause by the setting on AEM F/IC-6 map,
I manage to get the car run ok...
I still need to go to a tuner to tune it though...

Now, I am having another weird problem.
I put the AEM F/IC-6 inside my glove box and I could be positive that I heard a rattling sound from the glove box and almost like it came from AEM FIC vacuum boost hose line and sometimes like high frequency electrical pulse but sometimes like ... a rattle, only happened when I push my feet on the gas pedal (engine under load).

I read an older post from Litz at CRZ forum, I quote it here in bold:

I had a similar sound, due to my Sprintex install--belt was slightly too long and making the noise where the pulley was slightly hitting the auto-adjuster--fixed it by getting a tighter/smaller belt. The thing is, I could swear it was a heat shield making that sound, and spent hours tracking it down to the actual source until I got a friend and a stethoscope--and found the source of the problem in seconds.

Now strange is, as soon as I let go(release) the gas pedal, even if the car is coasting at high speed, the rattle gone...
Which pulley that your auto adjuster hit?(this is me asking Litz at CRZforum)
what you mean by auto adjuster is the adjuster that we had to move with 19mm wrench when installing the belt right?

I am really confused...
I even change my AEM FIC with an older FIC that I had for spare, still making same sound, so It can't be the AEM FIC...

Funny is, I can not hear this noise when I am standing outside of the car with the hood open and my wife rev the engine, I can only hear this noise from inside the car..

if anybody have any idea, please let me know...

Now I am worry the rattle that I hear might be actually ping/knock/detonation...
but I always use Highest Octane fuel available at either Shell or Chevron or Mobil in California which is 91 octane, it is not the highest in the country but I don't think gasoline quality should be an issue...
plus my car run very smoothly now (both engine and transmission)...
the Air to fuel Ratio is also at ideal range (near 14.7) during closed loop,
and goes to 10 (very rich) at open loop... and the aem FIC also retard timing (well AEM FIC can only retard timing anyway) and Sprintex boost level is low...
so is there a chance this is a knock/detonation?

If it is a knock or detonation will my engine goes to limp mode?
because I do not have any OBD error code now, and never goes into limp mode...

I hope I can secure appointment with tuner tomorrow...

Just return from a complete Dyno Tune at Church Tuning I got 148.2 horsepower at 6,500rpm and 127.1 lbft at 3922rpm.

The car is faster but not that much faster especially on the top end (top end not much different).
But the shifting is much more smoother than before supercharger... which I wonder why...

the problem is the rattling sound is still there, I think it cause by the soundwave from the supercharger carried by the long vacuum hose...
I will try to find the source of the noise this weekend, now too tired and have too much work to catch up...

oh, the tuning at Church also eliminate some knocking perhaps due to California lower octane...

I am happy that I finally supercharged (and not just the emblem on the fender but really supercharged) hahaha.

Here are the graph and pictures:

By the way, these are pictures from the install:

Before install
I adjust the Valves spring clearance to make sure it is within spec,
turn out the intake valves are all ok but all the exhaust valves is a bit too tight so I make it less tight a bit.
(I also flush the AT fluid one more time (last time I did it last month) to make sure clean fluid).

What amazing is our engine valve cover is made by Mahle !!!

Previously I was already using Denso IK22 but for this Sprintex application,
I take no chances an upgrade to an even colder IK24,
below are the pictures:

Since I won't be using the 5th injector,
I use the Acura RDX 410cc injector, along with the wire adapter that I bought from Jackson Racing, this way it is pure plug and play without the need to modify with TC scion clip:

Below is a picture of the injector wiring loom that need to be taken out from the plastic enclosure since Sprintex lower manifold don't have enough space for them. I took out the wire and protect it with wire loom than cover by another electrical tape for ultimate protection

I upgrade Sprintex PCV valve hose breather with Samco:

Samco hose going to AEM F/IC-6 internal MAP sensor,
I think this long hose also transfer the rattle problem that I know have
when in boost... act like a long vibrating tube...

Samco hose that feed Defi Boost Gauge sensor,
notice the above and this below need adapter since the fitting on the Sprintex is larger than the other fitting at AEM F/IC-6 and Defi Boost Gauge sensor:

I grease the intake manifold opening with Toyota rubber grease:

I also grease the two square and round o-ring below the Sprintex unit:

Using long 19mm wrench to adjust the belt tensioner (this is easier with 2 person job) !!!

I also replace this black rubber hose that goes to Sprintex Vacuum bypass valve with Samco, and I make sure I transfer the internal limiter inside
this black rubber hose to Samco

Flow limiter below:

Notice on the right side, Sprintex vacuum bypass valve now have nice yellow Samco hose instead of the black rubber one

I upgrade my Big 3 wiring with nice distributor block from Streetwires
and Rockford Fosgate 200 amp circuit breaker. I still need to add one more
distribution block later for dedicated power cable to sound system,
but this would need to wait until next year when I have budget for complete sound system overhaul

Finish product

Nice pics! Great dyno! The power isn't falling off at all but still climbing. Awesome to say the least. I have nothing more to add.

Omg i am constantly amazed by everything you do.... I didnt read the whole thread but do you think the stock AT Can handle the extra torque and power without premature wear? I ask because now i want to do this....

Hi Connor55,
Yes, the stock AT can handle the torque and power,
from what I read so far the Honda Fit AT can handle up to around 200hp.
Same thing with the CVT transmission on Honda CR-Z before they start to slip.

HKS had a supercharger kit for CR-Z that can be adapted to Honda Fit with J's racing adapter kit, but this would cost around 3 times the Sprintex kit... (with J's racing adapter)... but if I haven't bought this Sprintex unit,
I would bought that HKS kit.
Problem is, J's Racing came up with the adapter kit about 2 months after I bought my Sprintex... oh well...
now that HKS kit (with HKS upgrade kit) can produce 200hp on CR-Z with stock internal which mean at least around 170 to 180hp at the wheel of Honda Fit (without electric motor of the CR-Z).

This thread were started and contributed by many Sprintex owners before me, Thanks to all the pioneer before me.
I really came late
but I learn a lot from others experience, that is why I have a very smooth installation with my Sprintex... except I am also the only one with this rattling problem now... hahaha

Hmmm you make me so tempted for this. But i will be broke after december for a little while. I think you know why
Some day i will install this too... I am just worried about it being reliable. You do not have to deal with -20 winter... Unfortunately this might hold me back. But thank you for paving the way so its easier for me to follow lol

The Sprintex supercharger held up fairly well in 90+ hot humid central Florida weather since I installed it on my daily beater back in Dec 2013 with 97K on the odometer. My car now has 159K miles and ~62K miles on the supercharger and still with the original piggy-back SMT8. I have not repinned the wiring harness even though I got new pins from Gary. The only maintenance is checking the gear oil level in the charger and changing it every 25k miles. We have very mild winter in Florida so I cannot comment on the charger in the extreme cold. Overall I am very happy with the Sprintex reliability.

Yeah, I am looking to convert to KTuner within the next couple of months. According to a KTtuner posting on their forum, the speed density option will be availability in an upcoming public release. I am very excite because I look forward to ditch the 5th injector, the MAF sensor, the SMT8 piggy-back and see what power I can make reliably.

Hi Steven Hung,
It is encouraging to hear about the reliability of the Sprintex.
I am using my car as daily driver too.

I had a chance to have a long drive today,
and I found the real cause of the rattle.
It come from my vacuum hose that goes into the AEM F/IC-6 internal MAP sensor,
I read and turn out many people have this problem due to pulsation from the supercharger/turbocharger.
I will try to find the solution soon, but so glad it is not knocking sound.

I place my AEM F/IC-6 inside my glove box,
so I close and open the glove box door and I can hear it get much louder when I open the glove box door.
then I hold the vacuum hose, and can feel the pulsation.

I also looking forward to see the K-Tuner update, I might buy it to replace my AEM F/IC-6 piggy back if on the next update they include a lot of features that is still in beta now.

How is your fuel economy compared to before? I read that supercharger increases fuel consumption a bit. Thanks

Fuel economy might be down very slightly but that also because you would like to have fun and drive faster with the supercharger.

It's been fairly 'reliable' for me on Ktuner. It's been 105' ambient temp, my IAT's were 175' in stop and go traffic. But it seemed to deal with it. I've had some growing pains with it.

Cool! some extra people would help ironing out the issues, my commute is 90% highway, and some issues didn't surface until I had to do some city driving. It was rough trying to replicate and resolve them. I'm anxiously waiting for Speed Density. Ever since i've went to 3" intake, i'd had drivability issues. I'd like to finish my tune and see what my car actually dynos.

My mpg was about 31 mpg with 90% highway cruising at 70-75 range. Currently its 28 with light throttle driving. I suspect its due to the car having to burn premium fuel (i lost 2 mpg when i accidentally put 93 when i was stock) and the parasitic drag from the supercharger (maybe 1-2 mpg?)

Hi,
I was really considering K-Tuner because I like the fact that K-Tuner:
a. Cost cheaper than Boomslang Harness and AEM F/IC-6 combo that I had. On April, I paid $664 (including shipping) directly to Boomslang that was the list price of the harness for Honda Fit at that time.
Today I check Boomslang website and turn out Boomslang LOWERED the price to just $399 now !!!
That kinda sucks and I also had to pay the AEM F/IC-6 plus dyno tuning (no online tuning), so K-Tuner will cost me much less.

b. K-Tuner have the capability to turn off the OBD error associated with the second O2 sensor, Adjust the VTEC early activation and remove speed limit (although the speed limit removal not really matter since we won't be able to hit 200mph anyway, hahaha but it's nice to be available).

Several things that prevented me from buying the K-Tuner were:
1. It do not have the expanded map table for boost, (so I worry about the resolution of the tuning especially when it transition from no boost to boost that occur in many in town driving with many stop and go and transition between off boost and on boost).

2. It do not have Injector resizing (needed for easy re-scaling of the larger flow Acura RDX injector)

3. It do not have Speed Density Fueling

but if K-Tuner include the missing features above for the next release, I might switch to a K-Tuner unit (depend on the review/result at that time).

I get between 28 to 30 mpg depending of aggressive driving level on 70 miles daily commuter that has a mix of highway and local driving on Michelin Pilot 205/50 R16 A/S. Mileage was slightly better by about 2 to 3 mpg on stock tire size 185/55R16.

I had a home made short ram air type air intake. When the weather is hot it really zap power. In stop and go traffic the intake temperate can go above 150°F on the UltraGauge. The stock airbox is much better at keep heat out. I am looking at the Aquamist HFS3 water injection to fix that problem once I ditch the 5th injection with KTuner.

The nicer KTuner options are in beta. I can't hardly wait until they are available.
- injector sizing
- custom map sensor support
- speed density fueling
- expanded table for boost

I have ordered RDX injectors, injector connector adapters, map sensor block off plate and EGR block off plate. Someone of this thread is giving me a map sensor fitting. Thank you so much. I most likely start the switch on a four day long Labor day weekend.

Here is my home made air intake with a K&N filter.

Well it's good to hear someone has had a good experience with the stock kit! I'm still waiting for the warranty to expire in 1/2017 before I really consider getting the Sprintex kit. I wonder if anyone has the kit with the new intercepter tuner.

Good to hear, i thought the extra load on the engine from the SC would definitely reduce MPG by a lot

I've recently installed the Sprintex system as well and can verify that 28-30 MPG. I just finally got the car out of limp mode though, so I'll see if that changes any. I'm still hoping someone can figure out this EGR CEL issue that has been plaguing us! I'm not very good when it comes to that sort of tinkering. My car is fairly modded, so I need to get it tuned sooner than later. I'm running a lot more flow than stock. I want to grind out that restrictor, but am worried it'll cause me to go way too lean. Already have cold air intake, larger throttle body, header through exhaust on the car.
